Polish sausages bring a certain joy to my heart that is unmatched by almost any other encased meat. I am so glad to have found Celina's Deli. It's a small, local business with many imported Polish goods. They have ready-to-eat sausages hanging behind the counter, raw sausages in the deli counter, fresh sauerkraut, fresh pickles, home cooked soups, potato pancakes, the list goes on. One of my favorite treats are these mini croissant-looking items with a sweet kind of marmalade inside. omg, those things go straight to my hips! This is. a really nice place with all kinds of Polish goods that were once abundant in Chicago but seem harder to find. Tucked inside this quiet little market is a taquería, and once I saw the grill and smelled the meat cooking, I had to try it. I ordered three tacos, two asada and one al pastor and wow, I wasn't expecting them to be this loaded. Each taco came piled high with meat, way more than you usually get. The asada was juicy, tender, and had that smoky, slightly charred flavor that tells you it just came off the grill. The al pastor was even better. A little sweet, perfectly spiced, with crispy edges and just the right amount of pineapple to balance the rich pork. It tasted like it was cut straight off a trompo. And the red salsa? Incredible, So good. Smoky, spicy, and it hits you with a slow burn that makes everything pop even more. It's a super casual setup, just a few tables inside the market but the food is legit. And my usual market does not carry cleaned deveined shrimp so I came here. They have it and it was reasonably priced. since I was there I took a look around and got some red bell peppers and onions for the salad along with some other stuff (not about to give you the recipe, quite good though) The place is nice and well stocked, clean and service is helpful and nice.
