I love this Aldi's! First of all, if you don't shop at Aldi's I would recommend you start since it'll most likely have your grocery prices. This one is great because it's never too busy when I go and it's been recently renovated so it's always clean and well stocked. They usually also have some limited release items from different parts of the world (usually Europe) that are fun (and still affordable) to try! They also added a lot of self checkout counters so my trips to the grocery store are even faster! The only thing Aldi's doesn't do well is fresh fruits and vegetables (but you can pop into the Cermak right next door for that!). Not sure what happened but they don't do limited entry anymore by the entrance to ensure social distancing. There'd be a couple workers doing a headcount, wiping down the carts for you, & and enforcing the masks. This would've made it so much easier to navigate throughout the store. It felt like real life PAC-MAN in there. Definitely way too crowded to social distance. As much as I love their store items I am not risking my life for that. Sorry, not sorry. Compared to other Aldi's I have been to, this is the busiest but also they try to maintain it as full of product as possible. It's usually very clean and the staff is quick. The lines might be a bit long, but again, the staff is quick. They get new stuff in weekly. read more

This location is relatively quiet, clean, and checkout is reasonable. Aldi has some gems for cheap. The cheddar penguins are a great alternative to goldfish crackers. I actually prefer them! There's also a spaghetti sauce that is just great for your pasta dishes here. I believe it's the Reggano Primavera. Forget the ragu and the prego! Don't forget to bring your own bags unless you don't mind paying for some bags at checkout. Wish there were more Aldi locations around! read more

5 pm. Aldi 1700 west cermak RD ( not the correct address but near.) This is a Hispanic neighborhood Aldi I wish it was no stars. I'm waiting in line to checkout, a Black Security officer left his post in the front. I noticed all Hispanics paid for their groceries, the Black security Officer didn't check them out. Waited until I checked out, came over to the cashier because I am a black woman dressed in BLACK. Of course, I dressed in black, I am a security Officer. He left when he saw I had my form of payment. Today is May 12, 2020 around 6:30 p.m. I have several complaints and they are as follows: 1. When I got to the cash register, I told the cashier, Benjamin, that "I would pay with SNAP (food stamps) first and then any outstanding balance with a credit card". The cashier, Benjamin, told me, "I had to tell him how much was on the food stamps first before I could use them". Then, he canceled out my food stamp card. This makes no sense because he can see how much was on the food stamps when I swiped the card, chose "EBT" and entered in the card's password. I reminded him that I was using food stamps for food and would pay any outstanding balance and non-food items with the credit card. He kept repeating, "I had to tell him the balance on the SNAP card first" and he gave the card's current balance. I informed him that he had just "told me the balance and could we move on to finish the purchases?" I used the SNAP card a second time and the card's amount was credited. I asked, "How much do I still owe?" Benjamin pointed to an amount on the screen facing me without saying the amount out loud to me. This is rude behavior because I asked him directly, yet he did not respond directly with the amount. 2. When I arrived at the store with my reusable bags and waited in line to go inside the store, there was no sign notifying customers that we would have to give our bags to an employee before going inside. I left my bags with a young, Latinx man. He told me, " I had to give him my bags and I would get them back when I came out of the store". He put in the front seat of a grocery cart with other people's reusable bags. He called me "my man" which is not my name. He could have said, "Sir or Mister" or used no title at all. The employee wore no name plate on his closed jacket and wore no face mask. Though, he did have on sterile gloves. I took a cart from him and went inside. After I finished shopping and waited to checkout, there were no signs about purchasing bags in the store. If I had not brought my reusable bags that I was forced to leave outside, how would I have taken my groceries home? I have no car and use public transportation. During this sheltering-in, I do all the grocery shopping for myself and my mother who cannot got out because her health is compromised. And when I was waiting in the checkout line, why did I see two empty reusable bags laying out in the front seat of the customer's cart in front of me? His bags were not taken from him before entering the store. The cashier offered me no bags to purchase for my large number of items. I left my cart inside for 2 or 3 seconds, to pack my groceries away inside the store because I had finished shopping. The employee who took my bags before told me "I couldn't bring them inside". I strongly expressed my frustration with this situation because I needed some grocery bags to take the items home. I would pack the groceries myself because this Aldi's has never employed baggers even before this current pandemic. He said, " He couldn't do anything about it, and I would need speak to the manager." Instead of being offered the opportunity to purchase bags and pack my thirty items inside the store, I had stand outside putting my groceries in the reusable bags I could not even bring inside. 3. My mother and I have shopped at this store for over ten years, and we are very disappointed in the careless behavior of your new employees in the middle of a pandemic, their rudeness and lack of professionalism, the new high prices, and the lack of specific information to help your customers. read more

A nightmare to check out- so poorly managed!!!! Waited in one line, to be told that they were now closing..... went into the only other open line, behind six other shoppers with FULL carts. Then, the line I was told to relinquish, was "reopened" and filled by other anxious shoppers.... then a third line was opened and quickly swarmed, and those of us who had been waiting in line for ten minutes were not pulled over to be prioritized. The checkout structure of this store is feeble, and not worth any meager savings to stand in line and be subjected to the indignity of this "you aren't valued" mentality. I was impressed by this grocery store. Each time I go in here, it was always clean, organized and well stocked. The staffs are friendly and helpful too. Every department has a nice selection of goodies. I am able to get everything I wanted and there are also few specialty items which is surprising. I like their selection of fresh produce. The only downside is their prices, few products has higher prices compared to the other stores but other than that the store is still great and the location is very convenient for me. Checkout is quick too even if sometimes my cart is full, all thanks to the efficient worker in the counter! read more

I was so impressed with the grand reopening of this Aldi! Aldi got a face lift, and it is brighter, cleaner, more spacious, and hosts more products than ever before! I did notice more artisan, seasonal, holiday-specific, and organic fare too after the reopening. It was cool to see some items very comparable to Marianos/Whole Foods for that "aldi price". However, I feel that the prices did go up slightly to accomodate for the new facelift and hot commodity products. Still, I got a showerhead for $10 so NO COMPLAINTS! I LOVE ALDI'S read more

This is an above average Aldi, thanks to a reliable and prompt staff who make even a 4- or 5-deep line at the check-out sail through in no time. Often my biggest problem with shopping at Aldi stores is dealing with the large crowds and the skeleton crews, but this Aldi does not generally have that problem. I'm also impressed by the expanding line of "Fit & Active" products that are still very affordable but aren't loaded with calories, fat, sodium, and processed meats like so many cheap grocery items contain. For instance, their ground turkey, priced at $2.50 for just under 20 oz. if I remember correctly, is 93/7 and doesn't have any funky ingredients like mechanically separated turkey that you typically find in packages of cheap ground turkey. I would not recommend doing all of your shopping at any Aldi (for instance, the produce is never all that great), but it is perfect for stocking up on package goods, especially now that they offer more "Fit & Active" products. read more

The cashier Yesenia was extremely rude and did not handle my transaction effectively. Double charged me for my $13.98 lean beef amongst my other groceries. Scanned my items roughly and dumped my heavy beef on top of my fragile eggs. I swiped my debit not yet noticing that I was being overcharged. After I finished bagging my things I kindly went back in line to her and asked to be refunded that 13.98 because I only had one pack of beef. She rolled her eyes and snatched my receipt to fix it. These young girls need to learn how to communicate with their customers. It's the little things that your customers never forget. read more

They have a great variety of items for everyone. Just make sure to bring a quarter to get a cart. you get it back when you return it. Prices always competitive, albeit for off brand items- better since Trader Joe's is the same company now. Aldi stores I have always found pretty consistent in layout, at least in the Chicagoland area. Junk food seems to always greet you as you enter the store. Handy, but just don't go there with the munchies ;) There used to a time some time ago where no matter what brand of hotdogs they have they always tasted like they had sand in them. Glad they fixed this. Consistent selection and quality. Good location. Pretty clean. I remember when the cashiers used to have to remember how much everything was, but now they have product scanners like everyone else. My first go to place if I don't need specialty food items. They usually run great specials and you can find similar items that are comparable to major grocery chains. Sometimes they could use an extra cashier but the line goes very fast. The major issue is the inability for the security or staff to control the screaming children running up and down the store. Some of the shoppers are not aware that they are not at home, stop your kids from running around crying and screaming. Bring change to receive a cart and bring your own bags, Aldi charges $0.11 a bag, this is a company policy. Debit or Cash only, they offer cash back. read more

I used to shop at the location on Monrtose and loved it! For a couple yrs now I've been going to this location and not all the products are consistent. Fit and Active products are good for the price. I don't do all my shopping here, recently I've been getting meat products at Sam's. The pork chops here for example are too expensive and the product is not that great. They have steak and it looks good but when you open it the bottom of it has all this fat on it, not worth the price. AVOID SHOPPING HERE ON THE FIRST OF EVERY MONTH... That's when everyone's link card gets reloaded. I had no idea until one day that I was there on the first. It gets very busy and hectic. Rude people talking on their cell phones when they should be paying attention to what their doing. I prefer to be in and out, not the case on the first of the month. Recently I've noticed that they have not been having alergy products. Apparently they stopped because they keep getting stolen. Why not put them in front by the register? What's the point of having security guards? Usually their just at the front standing around. Pretty pointless in my opinion. read more
