I just casually stopped at this Aldi location. Upon entering there was a sign posted about their temporary closure on 8/28/25, as it seems they are remodeling or something. I saw some unique items but many of the shelves were empty. I will have to come back once the remodeling is complete. This probably wasn't the best time to visit this location. read more

This isn't my usual ALDI, but it is one I go to periodically. It's much larger than the other stores closer to me. It has a much more open and "classier" feel to it. I've learned that each store is shopped differently, so if my store is out, I might be able to find it here. Added: Didn't remember I had reviewed this before. Another day, another produce refill. Don't sleep on the meat selections either... you just may surprise yourself. Your reusable bags will serve their purpose here or just grab an empty box to use (I always leave my bags in the car). A long line never truly feels like a long line here because the process moves so quickly. The store stays orderly and assistance is easy to get if needed. read more

This Aldi was very neat and clean. Great low prices and a large variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. They have a great freezer section and some of the lowest prices I've seen on meats. Employees were friendly and helpful. This location does not have self checkouts. read more

I used to never come to this location, but I recently found out their sales tax is much lower here! Don't quote me but I believe it was 5% versus 10% at most other stores in Birmingham. They always have lots of fresh produce here, and their prices are always pretty accurate. I've seen too many times where other Aldi locations advertise a price then later it is higher once you get to the checkout. This particular store is also super clean and always been nice to shop at. read more

As I was checking out the cashier was very rude. I was paying cash and I put a penny down as I looked for more change. She said"Is that for me?" I answered yes and she said " How about you pick it up and put it in my hand?" I was shocked and appalled at the same time. I am 68 years old and generally a pleasant person, I think I should be spoken to with some respect and courtesy. She also kept picking my grapes up and roughly sitting them down, I'm sure some are bruised. I am very disappointed in this store. read more

This ALDI was very clean and neat. The service was 10/10 My go to grocery store is ALDI because of the good deals and reasonable food prices. I will always recommend ALDIs if you want to get fresh produce. They also have reusable bags which is great for the environment. read more

I am such a huge fan of Aldi and happy this store is less than a mile from my house. If you are not familiar with the Aldi concept, the store is laid out similar to a warehouse style. Products are left in there shipping boxes and most are generic brands that look surprisingly like the name brands we recognize! There is a huge assortment of products from fresh produce, meats, dairy, bread, paper products, etc., that you would expect in a grocery store, but not multiple choices of each. Every week some limited number products are brought in that only last while they are there. I've purchased small kitchen appliances, yard items, and electronics. Get them while you can! The pricing at Aldi is excellent, because they are passing their overhead cost savings on to you. Limited lanes open, but they are fast! Bring your own bags or grab one of the empty boxes to take out your purchase. Or you can pay about $0.10 a bag. Also, when you get your grocery cart, you need a quarter to unhook it from the rest. You get your quarter back when you return (or leave it in there for a nice gesture for the next shopper!) The store is clean and easy to navigate. I am in there often, and the staff is always pleasant. read more

I went here for the first time today and loved how clean it was! I found that the prices were really good too. I was first confused to not see the normal brand names you'd see in a typical grocery store, but figured out the products are rebranded much like Trader Joe's. I also learned that they don't bag your items and you need to either bring your own tote bags or buy ones they have at the cash register. read more

When I realized they were FINALLY building an Aldi on 280, I got so excited! A new Aldi right across the street from my workplace?! This is going to make grocery shopping that much easier! Who isn't a fan of Aldi's rock-bottom prices and quality fair? Even if you're not shopping a sale, you still leave with more money in your pocket than if you went to one of the other chain grocery stores. This location is easy enough to get to via 280 and leaving is just as easy. It's in a shopping center next to a light which is a godsend when dealing with 280 traffic. The store is bright, shiny, new and one of the biggest Aldi locations I've ever been to. They have a great setup, clean facilities, and pleasant employees. The only thing that keeps my review from five stars, is the fact that shelves are often bare due to out of stock or just non-stocked products. I understand that keeping up with demand during the first few weeks of opening can be daunting, but it's quite inconvienenct for me. read more

I love ALDI and normally got to the ones in Irondale and Trussville. I moved to 280 recently and this was my first time in the store. It was very clean and well-stocked. The cashier was very rude. He was nowhere in sight as I walked up. He didn't say anything until the end when he asked if I was paying with a card. Then, I was pulling the cart to the counters and he said in a tone again, "I need that cart!" There were 2 others behind him he could've used with nobody else on the registers and quite frankly, not sure why he ran off when another woman behind me was walking up. I went to Walmart today and the lady ringing me out was very pleasant and paid a good bit less. read more

Honestly, I'm not sure why I overlooked this place for so long. REGRET. I overpaid for groceries for so long in Birmingham before I came to Aldi. I purchase about 90-95% of my groceries from this store. The store is clean, well organized, and modern. If you don't know, you need a quarter to get a cart, but you get your quarter back when you return your cart (as any reasonable person would do anyway). There may be certain specific items you can't find here, but the savings you have are completely worth it. I really enjoy the wine and cheese selections. A few things I always buy are the greek plain yogurt, frozen fruit, a bottle of Riesling or two, apples (they even have some of the rare varieties when they are in season), canned pantry staples, aldi's version of nutrigrain bars, and the three wick candles. Produce can be hit or miss at times, but carefully choose your produce, and you should be fine. I've only twice had to return produce going bad quickly in about 2 years. If you're not married to the brand names of your groceries, you will find that Aldi has some wonderful offerings. I love the seasonal aisle that has so many fun and surprising items from food, to holiday novelties. They also have a ton of organic options. I highly encourage everyone to check Aldi out if they haven't yet! read more

I needed a few items and hoped I could wrap up my errands here. Even though everything on my list wasn't found, I still give them 4 stars because of their prices, clean store, unusual selections, and my normal experiences. The only reason they didn't get all 5 is because the cashier was heavy handed with my items and rushing me. I took my zippered insulated divided shopping bag inside so could just transfer it directly back into the back of my vehicle. It allows me to keep my items separated from my brothers AND cold items protected. I'm able to load my purchases quicker too. The cashier wasn't happy I was paying for items separately. They don't use bags so as she rung up items she mixed up the items as she slung or threw them back into the basket. I mean she actually threw my chips, bread, and meats into the cart! I looked to make sure the hot dog buns's bag wasn't ripped with her "Free Throw mannerisms". I SMH, opened the egg carton to check for breakage and just took a deep breathe rather than make a scene. Yes, she slung the eggs too! Not as bad as the chips but rougher than I was comfortable with. I moved to an area to separate my items again, pack the general items and properly pack the cold items that had to be unloaded when I got home tonight. I hope it was just an off day for the cashier and not her usual behavior. read more

I am an avid Aldi shopper. Always find the prices to be lower and their store brands are just fine. Great selection of produce, cheese, wine and oddities. However.....last week I did my weekly shopping and spent $120.81. When I checked my bank account, I discovered they had processed my charge twice! I stopped at the store today and tried to explain to an employee what my dilemma was, but she blew me off and said my bank had to take care of it. I am really disappointed in the way I was treated and I'll be re-evaluating my choice for grocery shopping. read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE having an Aldi nearby. This was the main thing I missed when I moved from Homewood to Chelsea. I visit this store every week to go grocery shopping. They always have a good stock and I'm usually able to get everything I need in this store for a fraction of the price which is important for us and our family of 5. I love that they're environmentally friendly as well. You can also get organic products here for affordable prices. The store is always clean and the cashiers are always super friendly. They also have a great wine selection and their weekly sales are always fantastic. I've also never had to wait more than 5 minutes to checkout at this location which is amazing. read more

I love love this Aldi's!! So convenient located off of 280 close to the Wendy's Well Fargo. This location is always clean and I never have a problem finding great produce. The bagels and juice are staples in my cart every time but I always find something new to add. Only downside is that they almost always have lines like Walmart with only one cashier open. read more
