So... I have not had to go in the store for about a year. I got to stater Brothers or the other Aldi's. Was surprised at how bad customer service has become. Just overall lacking when you check out. Very disappointing experience with Albertsons delivery. I just got off the phone with someone who identified himself as the manager, and instead of helping, he basically blamed me for their delivery issues. He told me that if I want my grocery delivery to arrive on time, I either need to order earlier than the delivery window I actually want or pay more money. Even worse, he openly admitted that he would never use Albertsons' own delivery service because he "knows how it works" and said I should expect that I'll never get my groceries on time. That's incredibly unprofessional and not something a customer should ever hear from management. If the store itself doesn't believe in its delivery service, why should customers? read more

Thursday September 25th, approximately 1000 am, my first time to shop at this establishment to buy fruits. Saw a sign for a free flu and Covid 19 shot at the register. She directed me to the pharmacy since I asked her. I walked to the pharmacy area, there was this lady chit chatting with the pharmacist for quite awhile not even acknowledging my presence. Finally I tried to flag someone and she directed me to the other window. Those two still kept talking, oblivious to their surroundings. I walked to the other window but the guy left but soon came back. He wanted to know what I was there for. I told him for the free flu and Covid 19 shot. He impatiently asked me for my ID. I got the impression I was bothering him. I gave it to him and he asked for my insurance. He must've gotten out of the wrong side of the bed because he was not personable. Did he think I was just there for a freebie...? I have medical coverage but I figure I was there and save me a trip to my provider. They would charge my insurance anyways. His attitude towards me was short and condescending. When I told him I had Kaiser, he quickly gave my ID back and said we don't work with Kaiser and he left. So rude. Albertsons continues to be a poorly managed store, if this location even has a manager. Just over a year ago, after being a loyal customer since moving to Ramona almost seven years ago, I decided to give Stater Brothers a chance. The difference between the two in personnel is like the difference between night and day. Last Friday, September 19, I decided to try Albertsons again to see if any changes had been made during the past year. It was around noon and the store was not busy. Not only are they still the same, my experience was so creepy, I decided to make it public. When the customer's transaction in front me was finished, THE CUSTOMER said "thank you" as he was handed the receipt and THE CASHIER said "you're welcome." What happened to cashier's saying "thank you," which is a simple show of appreciation of your business? Nothing new, though--It's always been missing at this store. When it was my turn, the cashier didn't even acknowledge my existence, as usual. She never spoke or even looked at me. When she was finished ringing up three bags of groceries, she simply handed me the receipt without saying a word. I took it and turned to the bagger and said "thank you" to him for bagging my groceries (so I didn't have to do it, which was usually the case), and without a word or acknowledgement of any kind, he turned and walked away. Sadly, it appears these young people are being hired solely because they can breathe. I've never experienced a stranger cast of characters in any store in my life. These employees are sorely in need of training and there seems to be no one to provide it. They are still unfriendly, even rude, and lacking in customer service skills. But these people are not limited to cashier positions. One of their assistant managers is still walking around with a "mad-on." The last and only time I had the displeasure of speaking with her, I told myself never again. I finally left the store, and was glad to get out, feeling like I just walked out of the Twilight Zone. Back to Stater Brothers, where they have human beings, friendly ones, too, who appreciate your business. read more

It's finally time. I've lived in Ramona for 5-3/4 years and I've postponed writing about Albertson's poor--at times even rude--customer service for almost as long. Since moving here, I've shopped at their Ramona location for a minimum of once a week. It doesn't seem to matter whether they are busy or not. The last time I was there, they were not busy, but they were still slow, disinterested, and unfriendly, as usual. Today, they were semi-busy at the time I was there, although I was only the second person in line and no one ever entered the line behind me. It makes no difference whether the cashiers are male or female. Today, the cashier was female. She wasn't slow, but she was disinterested and unfriendly. I'm sure I've been in her line before because I recognized her technique for checking out customers--no greeting, no smile, no thank you--not a word was ever spoken to me. In fact, she never even looked at me, because she was too engrossed in a conversation with her bagger. She will even hand you the receipt without looking at you and without saying anything, as she doesn't miss a beat with her bagger. To say the management is poor at this store is an understatement. In fact, they are now on their third manager in the past five years. The current manager is the one who stood up for an employee who body-slammed me out of the way about a year ago as he was running to his register. I've also almost been run over twice by two different female employees who were racing with large carts full of food without concern for shoppers, causing me to abruptly put on the brakes to avoid a collision. I hope Albertsons has a good insurance company because one of these days someone is going to be truly injured. Obviously, Albertson's doesn't bother to train its employees. During Covid, the manager at the time told me they were finding it difficult to find people. Must still be the case. Still, that's no excuse for rudeness and repeatedly breaking the long-established rules of customer-service etiquette--over and over and over again. They seem to hire anyone with a pulse. Before moving to Ramona, I shopped at Ralph's on a regular basis. They never failed to greet me at the register and thank me for me for my business as they handed me my receipt. Sometimes at this Albertsons (although not today) they will greet you, but they will NEVER say thank you. Occasionally, a checker may manage to mumble, "have a nice day," which is better than nothing. But it's not the same as showing appreciation for your customers' business. "Thank you" is the appropriate expression for customers choosing Albertsons over its competition. Instead, Albertson's personnel make you feel like they're doing YOU a favor--often even acting like you're encroaching on their time. Because I have never felt like I am a valued customer at this store, I have finally decided I won't be back. They aren't the only grocer in town. Stater Brothers, here I come! read more

This store is always stocked. Prices and quality are great as well. But what I was blown away by was this particular cashier that checked my items, Lucky. It's very rare you find someone with THAT level of customer service and great energy. I hope he gets a raise or a promotion because employees like Lucky truly can make a customer's day. Unfortunately. I am forced to go here since i now live in Ramona and don't always have time to drive to Poway or Escondido. The best way to sum up this place is to say that you will pay Whole Foods prices but it's an Albertsons. Stater Brothers in town is cheaper but i like Albertsons deli and bakery has items i really like so I still go there but MAN this Albertsons is expensive. Every time I go here I am shocked at how expensive it was. I have spent more than $400 here before getting the weekly shopping done and every time I say to myself "" GODDAMN it Melissa - get off your ass and drive to Walmart or Vons in Poway. Two weeks ago purchased fried chicken mix 9 count, so light & not greasy it was Great! Today 7 March 2021 boyfriend went & purchased fried chicken mix 9 count and was salty, overly cooked that ends were burnt and skin was so hard that I couldn't bite into just the skin. Not happy. Albertson's isn't always the cheapest but they have good specials and this sounds odd, but I really like their organic bean selection for making my own dips or hummus - they are typically low sodium, which is a great advantage. Great craft brew selection and their bakery actually makes some pretty tasty tortilla chips! The employees have always been friendly. read more

Five stars for Miss Victoria who assembled my last minute balloon order. I was lucky that she had the time to put it together last minute. She was professional and personable too! I did curbside grocery pickup at this location and the curbside attendant gal was very nice. The reason I could not give 5 stars for curbside is because the shoppers need to pay attention to customers' notes. I specifically asked for FIRM tomatoes and what I discovered when I got home was 2 tomatoes in advanced state of decomposition, super soft and leaky. GROSS! Completely unusable for what I needed them for and now I'm out $5 worth of tomatoes. SHOPPERS, READ YOUR CUSTOMERS NOTES, and use some common sense. Would YOU be ok with receiving what you are putting in your customers bags? I'll give these guys one more try... read more

Albertson's was the only other choice after the other place began to turn into something far short of a grocery store and Albertson's was incredible! For whatever reason things seem to be changing pretty aggressively in this store. For me they are. I went in tonight looking for 2 products. I found 1 because I knew exactly where it was and I'm glad I did. When I inquired about a product with the first employee I walked near on the floor he was far less than interested in helping me than he was his current task. NOT GOOD! A buying customer isn't even getting a question answered about BUYING a product?? Yep, and it would stay that way. "David" explained to me that he was sweeping. I was clearly able to see this. His answer was that he didn't know if they had that product and directed me somewhere he wasn't rather than stating, "I don't know but I will find someone who does". I even suggested maybe he use this exact quote with me and his answer was to tell me about his current task of sweeping and the details of that task. Something I am absolutely not interested in as a customer looking for a product to BUY. He then suggested that I wait for him to finish sweeping, and then maybe he could help me. I said, "Disregard, have a good sweep". And went to the front to search for someone in management. I found a "Supervisor" that was much older than David and I explained the scenario that just took place. She proceeded to give me detailed information about David's task and chose to not even entertain addressing my question while interrupting me twice during my explanation of the situation. Then she asked that I wait a second for her to call Dillon who, I'm guessing, is maybe the senior supervisor for the shift. I suggested she should cancel the call and I'll simply go elsewhere and she rapidly responded with, "OK, no problem". WOW! I guess anything you can do other than collecting money and your immediate task is better than generating a bit more revenue for the company. So after having to interact with 3 people, vicariously a 4th, I never got an answer to my question and it was never even entertained. That's pretty horrendous customer service guys especially for a customer with, what they call in the sales industry, "Buying signs". Hey Albertson's folk, I'd love to hear everything about David and his sweeping timer. I will entertain a conversation about ALL the details of sweeping in a store with loads of people trying to buy stuff. My inbox is always open. Usually everyone is pretty helpful but after my last run in with GINA I will never shop at this store again simply because of here. I am a small store retail manager and would never treat any customer they way she decided to treat me. Totally appalled and it was not a one time event. After using the pharmacy here for a couple of months, we noticed that none of our medications are as effective as the ones we get at Target. Kinda hesitant to use them anymore since we can never be sure if our normal daily meds are going to work this batch, or be completely ineffective. They should probably go with a more consistent pharmaceutical provider. I now refuse to do any of my grocery shopping here anymore because I am sick of all of their products being spoiled. I try to check everything because of how undependable they are, but sometimes, when shopping with 2 small children, you just forget or are rushed. So far, I have bought off the shelf 1. Meat that expired two days prior; 2. Yogurt that expired a month prior; 3. Refrigerated rice pudding that expired a month prior; 4. Canned goods that expired two months prior 5. Boxed cake mix that expired three months prior; and my personal favorite 6. Frozen pizza as a treat for my son that expired FIVE months prior that I then got to explain that he couldn't eat because it tasted disgusting and then I couldn't take it back to the store. How long does a frozen pizza have to be sitting in your store to have expired months prior and no one bothered to pull it off the shelf? I used to work at a bookstore and at least once a week we went through and pulled old magazines off the shelf, and no one gets food poisoning from eating those. And that isn't counting the things like how they leave things like plastic bottles of juice lying around in hot store rooms or warehouses so that they taste fermented and undrinkable even though they taste fine everywhere else we buy them. Or how the fresh produce goes moldy the next day. If you enjoy wasting time making multiple trips to the store to return spoiled food, or wasting time checking every single product you buy to make sure it didn't expire months ago, or if you just love throwing your food budget straight into the trash can, this is the grocery store for you! read more

I have never been a fan of Albertsons, but when they were doing that Rachel Ray dish promotion I decided to give it a shot since I can spend 200 bucks a week easy they way my family eats. My first impression was that it was small, way to small to have a starbucks inside for sure. The aisles are very tiny which make shopping very irritating when they have those giant displays in the way. You must always make sure you check the dates on everything just like any other grocery store but for the most part they do pretty good on that. one thing that bothers me is that the Roma tomatoes are always old and soggy. After a month or so I have gotten use to shopping here, learning the ins and outs of everything and i am starting to think that the elevation has something to do with the way some of the melons look. On another note shopping here may be a bit more expensive but compared to Stater Brothers the produce and meat keeps longer and that is the main reason I still shop at Albertsons. read more

Props to the other reviewers who warned about Albertson's bad habits. It's unbelievable that within a day of purchasing strawberries and an avocado they went bad. I've got the receipt to prove it too. The day I bought the strawberries they were fine cut some of them up for a meal prep into a yogurt parfait. Next time the rest of the strawberries were already starting to rot and an avocado has gone bad. Fresh produces? What a joke. They can't even properly mark their aisles. Was looking for juice and they labeled a frozen aisle for juice. It was near the end of the store so they've got two aisles for juice although apparently one is a decoy. Prices are ridiculous here as well no wonder their chain is dying off. Better off shopping at Stater Bros. read more

Nope, not 5 stars. Wonderfully friendly and helpful staff. Clean store. Reasonably good selection (for Ramona). However (isn't there always a however?), Albertsons' pricing is predatory. The regular prices are insanely high; typically more than 20% over another store. If you go for the sale items, stick to the cherry picking and forget everything else. The inflated "regular" prices will negate any savings from the sale-priced items. Also, they have pretty good beef but again, you have to get the sale items (and not that bullshit BOGO free). I've had lots of good beef at pretty good prices when I stick to the sales. Which brings me to the final point: Albertsons predatory pricing. BOGO (buy one, get one free) sounds like a good deal at first but then when you get to the store and the item is priced at $11.99 a pound as opposed to every other store's $6.99 a pound then the deal is crap. If ever you see an ad that does not list the price for the item that is supposedly "on sale", run, don't walk, run away. So, watch your wallet and you'll love the store :-) read more

I received my first Covid vaccination at Albertsons. They have cancelled all appointments for the second dose with little explanation and no updates. I went into the store to ask about this in the Pharmacy department. The young woman at the pharmacy counter was no help at all, and was rude to me. I'll never shop at Albertsons again. read more

I rarely review grocery stores but when you get this kind of extraordinary service, then you recognize the source of that service. I went to get some groceries for dinner I was making for some guests that I was expecting. So I wanted to buy some tomatoes for a caprese salad and I didn't know which would be the best for my dish. So I went up to the produce clerk and asked for his opinion. This is where the fun starts! He spent the next 10 minutes walking from tomato to tomato letting me try each variety until I found one I liked! Who does that? This guys does! I believe his name was Bill and he is exactly what someone hopes to find when looking for help. A patient, service oriented person that appears to love their job. read more

This place has the nastiest beef I've ever tried to eat. The last few times I've purchased beef from the meat counter it has been absolutely disgusting. I just had to throw out an entire 3 pound tritip last weekend only AFTER I wasted an hour grilling it to perfection. Tasted absolutely rancid. My wife bought some "ribeyes" that were NOT ribeye. There was a portion of one of the steaks that had obviously been died as it remained fluorescent pink no matter how long I cooked it. Stay far away from the beef away this store. read more

I was in charge of feeding 450 youth for a weekend retreat in Ramona and Eddie, the assistant manager was amazing! I haven't fed this many people before but with help it all worked out. Eddie was so helpful and coordinated my long list with produce, bakery, grocery, and deli. He made sure I had everything I needed and checked prices for me as well. Our produce was crisp and fresh and we had everything we needed from ice cream sandwiches to coleslaw. Eddie even helped arrange delivery. Thank you so much. Definitely extraordinary service. He took the time to call two other pharmacies for a really outdated medicine that my physician prescribed, walked me through the currently available options and was incredibly compassionate.
