I am writing this review to show my displeasure of this particular Albertson's located at 451 NE 181st Pl, Portland, OR 97230. They have an employee who is an angry old man who intimidates others. On 1.26.25, I was at the Starbucks drive through that shares this Albertson's parking lot when this Albertson's employee (see photo) in a black Chevy Silverado truck (see other photo) Oregon license plate #127 EXL) verbally accosted me and my wife. He took offense to my being in the clearly identified Starbucks drive through lane and wanted me to move my car out of his way. Needless to say, my wife and tried to ignore his gestures and verbal abuse including calling me names until he literally got out of his truck and pantomimed me moving my car where he wanted me to. He looked like the village idiot and was threatening to others. He acted like he was the Mayor of that parking lot and others need to get out of his way. He is wearing a black Albertson's hat and had a black Albertsons apron on with his name tag. I was too shaken to get his name off his name tag but my wife took the photos you see on this review. I am also writing to Albertsons to inform them of the obnoxious and deeply disturbing behavior one of their employees displayed while clearly wearing the Albertsons uniform. Shame on him! read more

I am ADA and though I do like to get some waling in to work on my stamina, having two different people there send me (incorrectly) to the opposite end of the store to get something that was actually not there gets to be a bit much. I had a short list of items yet walked the length of the store a ridiculous amount of times. Also, there was a pretzel listed on sale which was not only no where to be found in the store but asking three different employees working at stocking in their chips who seemed confused by the question or why they would know that information. They were not from another vendor but actual store employees. So apparently no one who works at this store knows the location of any item in the store. I will give them some credit though and their produce seemed pretty incredible as far as freshness goes so there is that which is important for sure but you are on your own if you need to find anything. read more

Decent Portland grocery store considering its in THE PORTLAND GHETTO , and there are bums, crack-heads, and drug addicsts standing directly next to the front entrance demanding dollar bills. Also their Employees smoking cigerettes next to the front door (not sure i want to eat the fresh made on location food)... And there is only ONE ENTRANCE AND EXIT , because so many bums and theives and ghetto rats infiltrated this poor albertsons, they had to close all the entrances/exits except for one. So then they have metal dectectors as u arrive in to prevent the theft. But they seem to have traditional Safeway prices which is good (Now that SAFEWAY-ALBERTSONS have formed a MONOPOLY it is what it is). below average fair produce though. Thank you Albertsons for your response. However I was back yesterday and found zero carts inside. Again. I went outside and grabbed one and it locked up on the way to my car. I'm disabled so when scooters are not available I use the cart as a walker. This made it extremely difficult to use and taxed my energy trying to drag it the rest of the way to my car. The staff is getting more friendly and the deli chicken was amazing. The last few times it was terrible. This trip however, delicious! read more

Been going to this Albertsons for 20+ years, always going to be issues with any store, especially nowadays when nobody wants to work. But they do a good job of keeping everything stocked, helping customers with anything you might need. Always friendly service for the most part. Just because you have a bad experience one time because someone else was having a bad day, doesn't mean the store is bad or that the customer service isn't great. All in all, I'd recommend anyone to shop here, especially over Fred Meyers (which is trying to buy Albertsons/safeway currently). A very good, clean, reliable, and well stocked neighborhood store that has good deals, fresh food. read more

Went by Albertsons and they had a grill going with Signature cafe St. Louis style pork ribs bbq by deli staff. Bought half rack and they are absolutely tender and delish! Very yummy. I popped in here pretty regularly over the years, because it's convenient on my way home. Tonight I had to pop in for a handful of items. I was sadly in Ruthies line again, I have always tried to avoid her as she had previously been rude to me and a client I had brought to do shopping. Ruthie was very friendly with the customer in front of me, even going to the next isle over to grab her a few candy bars. My turn now and I bought a reusable bag, she didn't bag anything. So I asked her, do you guys bag for your customers; no answer and she looked right at me. So I had to bag my own. Paid and 'waited' while getting my keys out and putting my receipt away. I wanted to see if she was going to bag for the customer behind me, and sure enough not only did she bag but she was so happy and friendly. It was then that I realized she had bagged groceries for the customer ahead of me as well. Now is a good time to mention I am white. Guess what, the customer in front of me AND after me were both black women. On the way out I asked security who the manager was and he wasn't sure who was on duty. So as soon as I got home I called. Manager was on break so I called back. I spoke with the manager on duty and she was pleasant and though her management level couldn't do much she gave me direction and answered some questions for me; confirming the store number, store directors name and the number for corporate that I found on the receipt. I look forward to speaking with the store director and getting ahold of corporate. Funny how the manager on duty said the name of the cashier, she knew and I had not told her the time or checkout line I went through; what's that tell you. Says to me Ruthie is an issue, why is she still employed there!?! read more

I don't live in this area, but I was visiting a friend and had to get something I forgot to bring for a potluck. The layout of the store was open and easy to navigate. The staff was friendly and I was able to find what I needed within a minute of arriving. I went through self-checkout. And it seemed that people who went there were mad. I commend the staff for putting up with that. If your ever in this area and go to this store, please be kind to the staff. They work so hard and smiling would help them feel better. read more

I go to this Albertsons when I only need a few things and don't want to drive all the way to Fred's. They usually have what I need, it's just the prices that I am not all about (compared to Fred's). I usually pick up some flowers as they have a pretty nice flower selection and usually a pastry as well. I also love their fresh baked bread for dinner- especially right after they come out of the oven, it's hard to pass up!. The store is pretty easy to navigate and pretty clean; the staff is friendly and never had a problem. Currently they have covid 19 rules in place and sticking to them. The selection is mediocre, the service is decent but they're regularly understaffed. But worst of all, they've started locking customers in the store like criminals, allegedly to prevent thefts. This is the worst pharmacy I've ever encountered. Every single time I call to fill prescriptions, no one answers. I leave messages and try again over hours and still nothing! I call customer service with no answer a lot of times as well. When I get ahold of someone they pretend they can't help me over the phone that I need my prescription refill numbers and to do it online or something. Once I finally get someone to do their job they tell me the prescription won't be ready for 2 HOURS!!! What??? On top of that, every other time I come to get my prescriptions that I've called in, they aren't filled and weren't put in even! Unbelievably unprofessional to say the very least! read more

The dirty bathrooms, out of stock items that's advertise as the weekly or daily special, long long lines or the extremely rude blonde haired old woman. I was at Albertsons today and realized that I had left my phone in my car at check out so I can retrieve my digital coupon. And the checkout line I was in which was Joshua's was absolutely delightful, wonderful and helpful. In the past I've asked this one particular checkered I'm not going to say names if she could help me when I left my phone out there for a digital coupon and she wouldn't anyway Joshua went above and beyond and I am going to look for his tall beautiful gray hair every time I'm in there to get in his line so thank you Elder sense for such a great employee and thank you Joshua for being a good employee. read more

I made a visit to this store and there were no lanes open so I went to self checkout and the worker there told me I have too many items but there were no workers in any other lanes. UPDATE: So I've regrettedly been shopping here again because...its the closest store to me and I've been trying to stay close to home during Covid. Again, spend $200/250+ here a week. Still the same horrible store and the EXACT same issues with the deli, meat dept, produce and the oddly and under stocked items. The latest is they are NOT enforcing Covid protocols. I've felt so unsafe shopping here recently that I decided to take the 20+ minute drive on the freeway to go elsewhere. Shame on you Albertsons!!! I stopped for the first time today. We are in the midst of COVID-19. Because of risk factors, I am cautious. This store was TOTALLY unsafe for anyone wanting a comfortable environment to shop in. Some of the Staff not wearing masks, many (most?)of the customers not wearing masks. Did I miss hearing the plague has disappeared? "Like magic." Noticed shelf stockers blocking aisles and not wearing masks. They are handling the products we buy. No hand cleaning stations. They did have floor marked for checking out and some aisles marked one way. But non-mask wearing customers standing in middle of them. I walked down front of store to quickly exit this store that cares nothing for its customers and observed what I have described. This store does not.deserve to be in business let along opened with their disregard for human life without a sign out front saying they are not providing safety measures just encouraging some of them. Masks not necessary. With that information I can make a decision to shop there or not. And not have to enter the store to discover this. Cannot comment on goods sold within the store. Shelves looked well stocked. In general, the store looked clean. Only saw one checker open and customers seemed to be using U-check. Oh, the one checker did have a mask...hanging down from one ear while she chatted to another staff member 2 feet away who did not have a mask. I came here a few weeks ago to get formula. When I walked in the store, I asked the worker where I can find them. She said to go straight to the register and they will help. So I went in line, and was given the nastiest attitude from Ruthie. It was so unprofessional and honestly, this is the closest store to me but I'd rather drive miles to Winco so I never have to deal with her again. She was upset that I didn't have a paper with the picture of the formula. She was upset when I told her what brand and color (she said that wasn't specific enough) AND THEN she got upset when I told her I can walk with her and SHOW HER WHICH ONE! She was even upset when I said I could google it to show her!!! I had to tell her NUMEROUS times that I can go somewhere else if this was too much trouble for her. I no longer shop here because of Ruthie. That woman lacks the ability to be professional and sincere. She should consider a job where customer service is NOT involved. I could not believe how hard Ruthie made it for me to get some formula for my baby!! If a customer is trying to help you, and you clearly need it, there's no fault in accepting help. I really dislike this place. It is now my closest supermarket but today was the last time I intend on shopping there. I hate that I have to have a card or download an app to get the advertised deal, very annoying. Today I used a digital coupon for the first time with the app. I had no idea how to use it. The woman checking me out got all irritated and snippy with me. I called her out and said there was no need for that. That seemed to escalate things. How dare you raise your voice to customers? There is always an issue at this place, I was actually commenting about that with the person I was there with and then this happened. I honestly don't understand why people shop here other than its location. It's very overpriced and usually doesn't seem to have what I'm looking for. The place is usually unfriendly as well. When I say hello to an employee, I at least expect some sort of acknowledgment. I feel invisible or unwelcome there. Employees here don't seem to give a s**t about customer service. I won't be going back here again. Drive the extra distance to Grocery Outlet, they are friendly and the place is clean and has good deals. Something I forgot about; I went to the deli, at 3:30, and asked for some Swiss cheese. The girl said the slicers were closed down already becuase they sliced hundreds of pounds of stuff earlier. I was treated like a criminal and accused of forging a raincheck for $5 worth of ice cream. I'm sure that there are shoplifters who push out carts loaded with meat and alcoholic beverages every day and they are not bothered. But I try to use a rain check that the manager says I should have never been given in the first place. So accused me of writing my own. The ad did not say limited quantities. The shelf was empty of the type of ice cream I came to buy. I asked for a rain check and was willing given one at Safeway. But the checker, it says Ruthie on the receipt but I wonder if every checker is Ruthie, grabbed the rain check and said this is from a different store. I said I thought Safeway and Albertsons were all the same company now. It was for $5 worth of ice cream. She ran to the manager who came over all huffed up like she caught me stealing $300 worth of steaks. It was degrading. The receipt says the manager is Janine. Another issue with this store is their block on Wi-Fi and data. My cell phone never can open the Albertsons app in this store. So I can never add a deal if I find a sale while I am there. The store manager, who stands by the U-check, said if it's not in your app already, then I will not give you the sale price! Tough luck! read more

I am going to say, that it is worth my time to drive further to go to Safeway. This Albertsons is a bit of a crap fest. Obviously these stores are franchises, so while one may be diligent about social distancing, others may not. This store has a problem regulating social distancing at the checkout lanes. The cashiers constantly have their masks pulled down below their noses. Might as well not wear one! I have had unmasked customers crowd me at the register, and when I said something to the cashier-she rolled her eyes about me to the unmasked people on my butt. Last week there was a woman crowding me and putting her things on the belt while I was still checking out and she only had a plastic visor on without a mask underneath. She was panting heavily and the sides of the visor are completely open and exposed. This is a huge contrast from the safety efforts at Safeway down on SE Powell. Going grocery shopping isn't worth risking my life because of poor safety precautions. I have addressed this with management previously, but it does not appear that they take this pandemic seriously. read more

The pharmacy here is horrible they *updated software and since than can not seem to figure out how to submit to insurance. When I call in the am and ask for a prescription to be filled and am promised than show up to pick up the prescription and it is not filled and am told "whoops forgot, well we are busy now come back tomorrow". They constantly have the AC on blast. This causes any of the fridge or freezer units to mess up their defrost cycles. This means that meats are turning green and ice cream is soup. You have to sort through everything to find something that looks like it's been kept at the actual proper temperature. This is a great place if you like food poisoning and workers who look like they do meth. read more

I live very close to this store and I must say that the staff is very nice and helpful!! If I worked there I can't say I would be so nice due to the horrible customers. I have noticed a lot of shop lifting and have even notified employees of shoplifters. This is a great place if you just need to get in and get out. Great produce! After a recent remodel normally high prices sky-rocketed. I doubt I would have stopped shopping due to their turn-of-the-century decor... but I will stop because their prices are criminal. I will only shop Albertsons if I can't get to WinCo. I recently requested Gods Greek yogurt because it was so high-priced at Fred Meyers at $3.99 but when they got it, it was priced for $4.29. What in the world? Beyond high prices, after the remodel some of the best products Albertsons carried were discontinued. For shame. The only reason I can feel good about giving this store 3 stars is that they have Buy 1-Get 1 Free meats. Sometimes they have the most awesome cuts of meat you can buy this way... i.e., 2 pot roast for the price of 1. From $16 each to $8 each. Not a bad deal. Other than this, this is just another typical grocery store. The only other thing that makes this store have 3 stars is the friendly, nice and helpful staff.. really wonderful people... too bad the prices are so prohibitive. read more

Bought a sheet cake from the Albertson's bakery on 181st and Glisan, for our company's 36th birthday in-house celebration. Was decorated beautifully and the flavor, from frosting to filling to cake itself, was superb! Would highly recommend this bakery, I really would. Ordering and picking up the cake was hassle-free; I paid in advance so I could swing by on my way in to work in the morning and pick it up.
