Once again, as usual, this is the worst grocery store in the valley. A busy Saturday and two cashiers, out of 1/2 gallon milk, couldn't get the (national) brand of orange juice I wanted, $8.99 for a pack of Oscar Meyer hotdogs and moldy blackberries! When I was there yesterday I got to enjoy quality customer service and it's always nice when nice people work at a store you like to frequent. You guys are so lucky you have an emo comedian that works as a cashier. I understand that I had a moment where I was lost during check out while talking to my kids and crowded the gentleman in front of me who was bagging his own groceries and had moved to the end of the counter. For some reason I thought that he had worked there and she was ringing up my items. That wasn't what the comedian was doing, she was still finishing his transaction. Once I realized what was happening, she already asked me if I was with that gentleman, which I replied no apologetically because I did not mean to take over his space. She instantly just said "No." No? No what? Excuse me? I replied, I wasn't trying to be rude. She proceeded to say it would be fine if I was going to pay for his groceries. That's a good one, we all laughed. Just kidding no one laughed. At what point do you stop Kelly? Cmon now LOL you're lucky my kids were standing there or else it would have been a real show. This grocery store has the poorest customer service because of the way it distributes its employees. There are way too many running around inside and outside of the store, and way too few cashiers. On one recent visit, they had 2 employees trying to hustle $5 donations from customers while making folks wait in long lines to check out. They play confusing grocery pricing games which lead to customers paying higher and higher prices. If they put half the effort that they put into confusing customers with pricing games into providing more cashiers and more helpful customer service, it would become a much better store for everyone, young and old, rich and poor. Bottom line is it's all about profit over customer convenience and reasonable prices. read more

The Albertsons market in Palm Desert is not dog friendly. I parked in the back of the garage one day. In fact a couple of days I needed the shade for my service animal in the car. The manager met me outside and told me I'm not allowed to be there anymore. So in essence they are not dog friendly and with that I will not shop here anymore as my local neighborhood market since I lived just down the street. Are you a pet lover or if you're a pet lover, don't bring your animal here. They don't like animals and they surely don't have good service. As previously reported, I'm not a fan of many supermarkets. I left my heart's love for them in NY State when I visited the Finger Lakes region about 20 years ago and discovered Wegman's. That's the gold standard for me on mainstream grocery stores. This Albertsons did nothing to move the needle. We were in the desert the week of Thanksgiving. Having shopped for T'Giving dinner items at Jensen's and Costco, Albertson's was just for fill-in items. Their prices are lower than Jensen's, but the store isn't as attractive. They aren't as organized as Costco, which despite being mega-crowded, still worked like a humming machine to get in and out of there. I recall thinking that this location was a bit of a shabby sister in the Palm Desert area where so much is upscale and elegant. It did appear dated and not that interesting, visually. We got in / we got out. When in the area next time, we would probably be looking to see what other options exist in the vicinity. read more

The best apple fritters! When I'm in the mood for donuts, I go early and usually buy them all. I noticed if I go late morning they have like one left, sometimes none at all. Veronica at the cashier station is WONDERFUL, so pleasant, always has her warm friendly smile. She makes my day. I have seen her lovingly help needy customers with patience and caring. The Produce Team are also VERY helpful making sure customers' needs are met. The Produce in this store is superb. The manager of the Liquor Department is like having family there ready to help. He has walked me around the store helping me find odd items for my recipes. I bought an order through FTD that took over 8 hours to get delivered to me through dash. Get where I'm going with this? It came in a soggy box. Flowers started to wilt in 1 day. Smelt terribly after 2 days. FTD gave me a refund after showing them pictures. Told me they would never use them again. My point, don't go through FTD of course. Crappy flowers through substandard contractors. Most important, DON'T BUY FLOWERS FROM ALBERTSONS!!!!! Especially this store! I've concluded that the FTD designed floral arrangement sold by this Albertsons had been sitting in the display cabinet A LONG TIME!!!! The veggies and non-perishables are good. However, the meat selection has failed me twice now. First, it was chicken breast that went bad the day after I purchased it. Now, it's a $9.00 steak that looked great from the top. But once I got it home to grill, I flipped it to season and discovered a whole backside of fat that I had to cut off. This is very aggravating. The staff is crazy friendly! I'm not sure if it's because it's the market or the people of Palm Desert that are friendly, but it has left me with a positive impression. Even the patrons of the market are super friendly. Everywhere I walk people are smiling, having a good day, and enjoying their life. Nobody holds back asking "How are you?" or "Have a nice day." Also, Jason the cashier told a customer that she dropped money ($10) on the floor. This Albertson's is the best in Coachella Valley. The Monterrey store is nice but too big for me. This store is bright, clean, well-stocked and easy to shop. Its employees are all friendly and eager to help. Produce is fresh; love the ready to heat/bake entrees; some great sale items; friendly cashiers and baggers and the pharmacy staff went over and above to help me procure Covid tests free of charge. BTW, no I'm not ill but thought I should have some available just in case. These tests are free until May 5th. Whenever I am in the area, I stop and shop at this location. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this pharmacy! Larry is the WORST pharmacist, I've ever worked with in my life. He Does not follow up on transferred prescriptions. He has no capability to call another pharmacy to find a prescription. I called myself and had no problem multiple times!! Had zero trouble finding it ,even if it was under my dogs name! it's still under my birthday AND my last name AND my phone number! There's absolutely no customer service and he has a BAD ATTITUDE at the same time! I have health insurance and I can take my business anywhere. I will not pay for service like this, neither should anyone else! I was looking for a very specific prescription to keep my dog from going blind! I just have to say great job Larry, in delaying me for OVER A WEEK! Seems like with everything that's going on companies want to have less people and I think they forget there's people still working. This is the second time I've come this week and I only have a 30-minute lunch and I was in line today for about 13 minutes last time I was in line for about 10 minutes so I just had to drop what I bought and had to drive back to work I had to order something from Postmates paid 10 times more to eat but had to eat this Albertson sucks it's slow I don't know what they're doing I used to be really well-managed needs to be a bunch of checkers used to be in and out with the quickness so I wouldn't recommend coming here if you wanted lunch. read more

We stayed in a vacation house not far from this Albertsons. Typical for all Albertsons it was a bit expensive, but very clean and well stocked. Also it was fully staffed so in and out was great, efficient and quick. Unfortunately while in the store I had to use the restroom. Walking from the impeccably clean store into the bathroom was like walking to another planet. Like a gas station bathroom at the end of a freeway off ramp. It was awful. I'm surprised I didn't need a key chained to an oil can to get in. It was a gender-neutral, one-at-a-timer. I can't even imagine what my wife would've thought. I even noticed that the toilet paper roll wasn't even installed into the dispenser. It was just sitting on top of it. Blech! Clean up the restroom and get five stars. read more

Our Palm Desert Albertsons is a clean, attractive, well-stocked store in a very convenient location for us. The two pharmacists with whom I have had contact are friendly and efficient. Surprisingly, it seems to have a dearth of customers. We did pretty bIg shopping last Friday. Upon rolling our cart up to the only check stand open, due to the fact there were so few shoppers, we took our place behind a woman almost finished with the process. I heard the male employee at the cash register say to her gruffly, "I already told you that once." Her male companion's mouth and mine dropped open simultaneously. Who gets spoken to like that in a supermarket? She left with packages, no further rudeness. Our turn. We were greeted courteously. He held up an article I had picked up from the Sav-On section and kindly said, "If you buy two of these you get $5 off." That sounded good to me so I agreed to buy two. A female checker who had no customers was bagging for him, although he hardly needed it. It is a loooong way from where we were, back to the section where this item is shelved, and as has always been the case in these instances, the bagger does a quick sprint and comes back with it. I looked at her, she looked at me and it was obvious I was going to be the sprinter. Let me add, she is a GREAT deal younger than I. That accomplished, she didn't want to put my paper products in bags and when I insisted she bristled slightly. Before exiting the store I scanned my register receipt to see if we got the advantage of their steak sale; buy one, get one free. Nope, charged for two steaks. Over we went to the courtesy desk where we were given the refund for the get one free steak. I will continue to patronize this store because it has everything I want and our visits are usually not this eventful. read more
