I have been shopping at this store off and on for quite a while, since I stayed with a friend who lives close by fairly often. Would say 2X/wk generally. Store is always clean, well-stocked, nice people in deli and in meat dept. Until today. Got some chicken out of fresh meat case from a friendly older man working there. As a parting statement, he told a very crude disgusting political "joke", which offended me greatly. Pro tip: when you are serving the PUBLIC, LEAVE YOUR PERSONAL POLITICAL VIEWS AT HOME. Today at 9:40 bought some grapes The checker who I think was a manager was yapping with the customer in front of me who was buying a watermelon. I put my grapes down in front of him on the conveyor. Nobody was behind me! Completely not paying attention, he took my grapes and charged them to the watermelon customer! I told him those are my grapes, so he had to cancel them from the watermelon customer! Then a customer finally came behind me and her stuff piled up against my grapes! I said I only have the grapes! Compare it to the sleek, modern Albertsons over on Golden Lantern (you know, the one that's actually clean, bright, and fully stocked?), and it's like apples to potatoes. Night and day difference. I would say its a rare day that my receipt is showing the correct advertised prices. It's so frustrating to have to go back and correct them, having wasted my time and gas to get back there. About every 4 months, I'll give them another chance, but am usually disappointed. I like some of the good deals they show on the ad but i feel like I'm the teacher, checking their answers. I've lived around the corner from this Albertsons and have been a customer for decades, and have been noticing some changes lately in the values of the store. The guests they say hi to and the ones they don't, the pretty overt religious preaching in the checkout line. Today I went to buy formula for my baby, and when I went to ask where to find it (the shelf was totally empty), a woman told me, "Oh, we do have it but we have to lock it up because THEY steal it." I am kicking myself that I didn't press further to make her explain who "they" was that she was referring to. I calmly and politely explained to her that it seemed strange to lock up baby formula, considering that the only people in the world who would be interested in stealing it would be people who needed to keep their babies alive, seeing as how formula is the only thing that babies can eat if breastmilk is not an option. A marginal loss to a huge chain like Albertsons over a child's life seems like a super harsh line to draw, especially considering that much more expensive items (like wine, for example) are not given any sort of protection. I told them that I thought this was unethical, and was met with a super rude reply to go shop elsewhere, then. I will go shop elsewhere, actually. But I think it's important (for anyone who cares to read grocery store reviews, which is probably not many people) to share that management has made their values crystal clear. Christian when it's performative at the checkout counter, but showing no sense of family values or being "pro-life" in the way they manage their business. They've lost, quite literally, a lifelong customer. I doubt that means much to them, but I genuinely hope management sees this review and reflects on whether the cost of a canister of baby formula is worth the health, development, and happiness of an infant. We often blame the younger generation for lack of customer service, and limited people skills. Not so at this location. I went through a check out line with two adult seasoned workers neither broke their personal conversation to acknowledge me. More disturbing was when the manager walked over at which point I thought was to correct the issue, instead she joined in the conversation with them. You know how all of Jeffrey Dahmer's neighbors were always complaining about how bad his apartment smelled? That's what this Albertsons smells like. It started last year. At first, just the alcohol and the fish area smelled, now it's the whole store! I had already given up on buying perishable goods here because everything was always expired (also saw a whole cart of warm dairy products just sitting in the middle of an aisle once. Yuck!). Laurie who works at the cash register has a horrible attitude towards everything it's seems . I literally watched her make up a rule just to have a power trip moment . Everyone should be helping each other and try to make each others lives easier not harder . Hopefully if enough people share a similar experience management might do something about it . Garbage service, you have to jump through hoops with an app to get the displayed price, and management is content to sit on their rear instead of addressing the problems. I would give zero stars if it was an option! Terrible service, miserable employees, rude cashiers. I was truly shocked that 5 out of 6 employees that I encountered yesterday, 9-27-24, were awful. Specifically, the heavier set, Caucasian, middle-aged woman with very short hair. This was around 4 - 4:30 pm. She seems to always be there and is miserable every time. She seems to love belittling others every time I encounter her. She was talking about another customer to me! (Belittling her) She then made a comment about Halloween, and I said, "oooo I love Halloween." She said "well my favorite is Christmas!" (In a very nasty voice) Then proceeded to tell me how she doesn't have anyone to exchange gifts with because no one talks to her. Even her family doesn't like her. She sends them cards and never hears from anyone, so she stopped. (Gee, I couldn't imagine why) Then I couldn't find my bar code to scan on my phone and she proceeded to talk down to me in front of other customers, pointing, smirking and saying, it's right there, as she was smirking. Well, if I'd known, I wouldn't have asked. After she checked me out, I realized I was so distraught that I had forgotten to give her my 10% off coupon. I asked her if she could accept my coupon, and she said it was too late and she couldn't. She then said, "You have until the end of the year! I have 3!" I could have just returned everything that I just bought but decided to ask the lady in the flower kiosk for a manager. No smile, no welcome, just a grimace on her face and asked, "What for?" When I didn't say, she pointed to the tall, slender, long-haired, middle-aged woman that was cashiering. I approached her and told her that I had forgotten to give the other cashier my coupon, and she said that she'd help me as soon as she was finished with her current customer. Yay! Finally, some help without begrudgingly doing so. Her current customer had apparently grabbed the wrong shrimp that was on sale. She told him it was the wrong shrimp and asked the bagger (young male, with glasses, and very long hair) if he'd go get the correct shrimp. He mumbled something and just stood there. The manager swiftly grabbed the two bags of shrimp, snapped at him, and rushed off to go exchange it herself. She left the entire line waiting, while the bagger just stood there watching her go get the shrimp herself. Then he mumbled, "Well, now she's mad at me." She returned with the correct shrimp after a couple of minutes. She turned to the cashier in the next line (no customers) and asked her (short, heavy set, dark hair, middle-aged woman) to help me. She gave her my coupon, and the cashier was stumped. She said, "How do I do that? What do I do?" The manager was frustrated and said just give her a credit. Put it under meat." So I did get to use my coupon. Had to encounter 5 miserable employees. As stated above, I did encounter one helpful employee. The $5. Wine Friday shelf was empty. I asked a passing employee (light haired, thin, friendly young man) if there was any in the back. He said no because the alcohol person was "not there today." I asked if he could check. He returned in a few minutes and showed me where there was more wine, standing alone by the front door. It was a bright light amongst all the doom and gloom. I'm sad to see this as it may affect the success of this store. I certainly don't want to return and listen to doom and gloom from every employee encountered. I went there looking for a Turkey and I was surprised how great their customer service was at this location. The older gentleman working in the meat department was so kind. Ordered groceries through app today to do the drive up pick up. They had my groceries ready earlier than expected. Pickup was easy. While I was driving home, which was about 10 minutes away, I got a call that they forgot to give me some of my items. They offered to bring those groceries to me, I accepted since I had a sick child with me who needed to get home. About hour and a half later they delivered them to my house! Alcohol is cheap. Service was rough for us. Couldn't get anyone to help at the deli and the prepackaged deli meats and cheeses were mostly expired or about to. The turkey I picked up was still in there from 8 days ago. When we went to check out (no wait and no one behind us waiting) We were using the app for the first time (all loaded registered and ready to go) the woman told us she wouldn't help us download it. Which it already was.
