Daeryl the man who checked me out was so incredibly rude. He was frustrated and had a bad attitude. I don't expect a smile everytime but the rudeness and frustration was too obvious. He needed to punch out and go home. I have been shopping at Albertsons for over 20 years instead of Kroger and Walmart and this is the service I got today. I know no one is going to do anything about it because I told the girl in passing at customer service that he was so rude and she just shrugged her shoulders...like oh well. The service at this Albertsons is getting worse. Even Winco has better service and they are packed. Please fix this issue. I wish I could give them 4 1/2 stars because in 2020 they've been more dependable than a lot of stores and I feel like they need credit for that. There are a couple of things I don't care for and because they are more expensive than some of the nearby stores I don't typically consider them a one stop shop and that's the main reason why I have to round down to 4. I've been to a lot of stores in 2020, both for my personal shopping and for break room and cleaning supplies at work. When the panic buying first started, they had the best restock rate and while I mentioned I wouldn't choose them to be a one stop shop, they really came through for me and I did all my weekly shopping through them multiple times in March through May because they were the only place I could find everything. I wasn't thrilled to spend more than I'm used to, but I was grateful to get everything I needed. In fact, when we had another round of panic buying in November, I went to five stores in a 24 hour period and they were one of 2 that had toilet paper and they had more because they were quicker than other stores to start setting limits on items that were flying off the shelf. I find this both organized and responsible and give them major props for handling 2020 so well. Prior to 2020 I came here every couple of weeks because this is my preferred location to get dairy, bread and produce. I've been here more frequently in the last year, probably at least 40 times so far and this continues to be true. The milk is creamier, the produce fresher, everything lasts longer. The expiration dates on milk, yogurt, bread and cheese is at least several weeks longer than at every other store in a five mile radius. That's a big draw for me since there are only 2 of us in the household and helps prevent waste. I find this to be well worth the extra $1 or less I spend on an item. Most of the items that are more expensive than other stores are typically $2 or less more and tend to be dry goods. However, I find myself torn by the meat and seafood department. I've bought from these departments multiple times this year and I find this significantly more expensive than Winco or Aldi, but I do have to give credit that the selection is really good and I've never purchased ground beef with so little fat from any other store. So great for quality, but it adds up if you are doing a weeks worth of shopping vs picking up a couple of items. I like their deli selection. They have a really great set of coolers with prepackaged items from their deli and it's always been good. I was impressed when they were selling bagels in their bakery section two in a bag for safety, but I don't think they did that long term. You can buy whole pies or just a slice a cake depending on your sweet tooth. They added 4 self checkout lanes. I know these are controversial but my time is precious to me so I find it to be a positive. While they typically have at least 3 or 4 lanes open when I'm there, I would rather check myself out if I have a small hall and the lines are long. I'm not sure what times they open as I will go to a normal register when there isn't a line in the mornings. The staff, especially the cashiers are always friendly and are very on top of asking if you are participating in any of their promotions. They always have stamps too, which has been convenient this year. They also have paper bags with handles you can request- useful when you are by yourself and are trying to avoid taking a medium load out in a basket. In regards to COVID19, I won't say their precautions are the best as I think they could be doing a couple of things better, but are acceptable. They require masks, have sanitizing wipes at the front, sanitize carts for you and have them directly in front of the doors to quickly grab and go, have directional signage (pointless if nobody is following but people are better about following in the mornings) and plexiglass at the registers. The one thing I am not a fan of is the one exit strategy. It makes way more sense to me to have both entrances open and use one to enter and one to exit. Every time I go there seems to be enough staff to make this work but instead they have only had the right side open for both entering and exiting and this makes social distancing completely impossible when it's a busy afternoon and sometimes creates a bottleneck. Not typically a problem when I prefer to shop, but they should *really* change that. I prefer to go in the mornings when they open at 6am so I don't have to deal with crowds. The bigger the crowd the more you find people not following the precautions. However, if you want to ensure all the trucks (produce, bread, etc) have already arrived and been stocked you are better off waiting until 8am and if you want something from their deli on the weekends, the selection is best if you wait until 9am. Crowds and lines are still acceptable at those times too. read more

I think this Albertson's is underrated. It's always really clean and I like that the first thing you see when you walk in is their floral department. The flowers are always fresh and really pretty bouquet arrangements. Each time I have visited it wasn't too busy. Everyone was wearing a mask and carts are sanitized after use. Fruits and vegetables always look fresh. I give this location four stars for lacking some items I would have been able to find in other grocery stores: canned pinto beans, more variety of tortillas and Mexican dishes in frozen section. Just seem to lack diversity in food items. For me it wasn't a one stop grocery store visit and will need to shop elsewhere for the items I am looking for. The meat section always has fresh meat at a reasonable price. Beware there is only one entrance and exist open at this time since the other door is closed for use. Unless you want to waste your time and hard-earned money, DO NOT visit the Starbucks at this Albertson's. I have spoken with management more than once and nothing ever changes. Of course, nowadays, management is thrilled just by people showing up for work; the people they hire to work at the Starbucks counter wouldn't know how to make a drink if they were looking directly at the directions on how to do so. I threw caution to the wind today and thought I would give them another try. The barista did not acknowledge me until after she was finished making the drink she was engaged in. She did apologize for the wait, which surprised me. I asked for a skinny iced mocha with whip, lite ice. I don't know what the heck she made that drink with, but it was so foul tasting, I thought I would never get that taste out of my mouth. She might have used dishwater for all I know. This store does have some decent employees but they get swallowed up by the incompetence of the ruling majority. read more

Pharmacy doesn't answer their phones EVER. I've tried every day at every time of day at this point. My doctor also can't reach them? I called customer service and she says they are too busy to answer their phones and that I'm not the only customer. What about the messages I left over a week ago?? The employees are super apathetic and dense. You will be fine shopping here as long as you don't need personal assistance in any capacity. I'm surprised this place turns a profit considering they don't have the class to operate effectively or treat people with respect. read more

Personnel do not honor posted prices. I purchased 5 items and two of them were higher than the yellow sign posted on the display. The meat counter employee refused to honor the posted price when it was very clearly posted. When I asked for assistance from the front store personnel, received poor customer service. Definitely my favorite grocery store in Denton. The prices are always lower than most of the competitors. The produce is always fresh and great quality. The bakery/deli are tops. Going into the meat market, you will always find great $pecials. Employees in this section of the store are always friendly and helpful. I have noticed there are handicapped carts available whenever I shop. There is a 15 to 30 min wait in most of the stores nearby. This is a clean, comfortable store in which to shop. read more

I never really went to Albertsons as my main place to go for food, but I definitely do now. Its down the street from where I live and it has AWESOME meat deals. If you grill with family/friends, this is the place to go for food. If you just want to buy bulk, great. A lot of buy one get one free deals! I also believe that its good for a good pick me up of anything. They have an AWESOME beer selection for a grocery store. They have the outside beer isle, then you go in the freezer for more. In the end not bad. I have a whole different opinion of Albertsons thanks to friends who go. read more

Nice physical location compared to some other Albertsons stores. Better selection (mostly), easier access and parking. Store is also cleaner and more wide open. Strangely, there was a much smaller meat selection (both fresh and packaged) than the location I regularly visit. read more

Let me explain why I like this Albertsons more than other grocery stores in town. Remember when people used to talk about people in the check-out line asking how you're doing, and meaning it? Remember when they used to run and get that "one item" for you? Remember when they saw that you were a little short on funds for the full price of an item and they discounted it for you without you knowing it - or they outright gave it to you? That's this Albertsons. It's a large store in a Mom and Pop body, and a nice little corner secret if you want to get away from the larger, busier, less kind places. Is it the cheapest grocery store? Probably not (except for maybe meat - their sales are amazing there). Will they have every new thing? Maybe not. But are they ones you come back to because of the service? Yes. I'd say so. This is an older Albertson's grocery store, however, it does have self-checkout. It has a limited bakery, a deli, pharmacy, video rentals and a beer and wine section. It's the closest place to my house and very convenient coming and going. It has most of the items I've needed. This location does not have gas pumps, a Starbucks counter, or bank branch or branded ATM. read more

This is a very friendly Albertsons, and it goes out of its way to help their customers. If you're missing something at the checkout line there's usually someone who'll go get it for you before you check out - often a manager. It's a small, older place but compared to the other places, you'll get in and out fairly quickly, you can find specialty items (like gluten-free, organic, and microbrews) and they're willing to listen to customers so they can update their stock. I really don't need to go elsewhere. Plus, they're right off 35 and on the way home. I highly recommend them if you like a small place without a lot of fuss, and you want to get in and out. read more

I started shopping at Albertson's 18 years ago, when my husband worked for Tom Thumb. Their deals on meats are better than anywhere. Kroger's meat is a lower quality and Albertson will usually meet the Kroger price eventhough the meat is the next level of quality. I'm talking choice verses select. Alberson's 10 for 10 deals also can't be beat. I buy Albertson brand products and have never been disappointed. I also like the wide clean aisles. Kroger down the street on University is a mess!!!! I would rather not navigate Kroger's parking lot either.(too small) I also don't like Wal-mart and would not go there unless I can't find the item anywhere else. I have shopped Albertsons both here in Texas and in Louisiana. I would love for you to open one closer to my home so I wouldn't have to drive so far into Denton. read more

Albertsons has great meats and produce. The prices are also very reasonable, and the sales are great. However, I've been shopping there for some time and have noticed a severe lack of customer service, especially at the registers. Cashiers rarely seem engaged in their customers, and often carry on conversations amongst themselves without acknowledging the customer. Today, a manager and customer, who clearly knew each other, chatted while blocking the check-out sacking station. There was an empty register right next to them, yet they stood directly in front of an open register. I did appreciate my cashier attempting to help me load my groceries over the counter, but that wasn't feasible. In the end, I loaded my groceries at a very awkward angle. I don't mind sacking my own groceries, and I never ask someone to take them out for me, but seriously, don't slack off on the job and then make it harder for your customer to pick up your slack!
