My only regret is that we didn't have another 8 days to spend there. We spent 8 days, 7 nights sailing from Juneau to Sitka--every day just as special and exciting as the previous. We hiked A TON, saw incredible wildilfe (eagles, bears, seals, sea lions, whales, and more!), kayaked, fished, relaxed, and became fully immersed in the "off-the-grid-no-taking-work-calls" experience. Jonathon was an amazing Captain, Brittany's food is out of this world, and we left the trip already counting down the days until we could come back to do it again. Hey Yelpers!!! Wanted to post about my experience with Juneau Sportfishing. Booked the excursion…read morethrough my cruise ship (NCL). I had a great experience with this company. Captain Matt and deckhand Billy did an awesome job all around. Captain Billy was knowledgeable of the spots to look for fish and Billy was very fast at getting the lines in the water and helping us when we did hook up. When we were wrapping up, Billy prepped the fish we caught. If you are staying locally, you can just take them with you. I've f you are on a ship, like me, they have a company that will process and ship your fish home for you. It's not cheap, especially if you catch a lot of fish. You also have the option of releasing the fish you catch. That's up to you. The bus ride to and from the port was very nice. They still provide you with a snack bag of crackers, some different spreads (one was smoked salmon, another a soft cheese), and some sliced sausage. It was very nice. It was overall a great experience and I would definitely go out with Captain Matt again. I will end with this... My review is not based on how we did. It's fishing, and you gotta know going in that you might not catch anything. A guide should help your chances, but nothing is for certain. Go for the experience. Enjoy the beauty of Alaska and the wildlife that is around you. This is a good way to do it. Check them out! By the way, my group of 5 people did well...

Alaska Fjordlines ferry from Juneau to Skagway was one of the most pleasant cruises of my three…read moremonth tenure in Alaska. Everybody was super friendly and Captain George was exceptional , slowed down and stopped for all major animal sightings (whales , puffins, sea otters) , had incredibly detailed explanations on the history of the Fjords. Alexa (From Temple University ) was the deckhand extraordinaire ( also stepped in for the lunch server and doubled as an office hand in Haines and helped me with my booking ) , she was also incredibly knowledgeable and friendly of all aspects of the Fjords. This cruise in a whole day cruise, I just did the return leg, very highly recommend the whole cruise (both legs) . Never had a better cruise.
