This place is beautiful, even in the fall. It is located just before you get to the Muldoon area. Signage asks you to park in the Benny Benson Alternative School parking lot. Our first visit here was on a Saturday. I assume visiting during the week, you'll need to get creative with finding parking. Non-members over the age of 6yrs are asked to pay $6/visit. There are clean bathrooms with plumbing here. The garden trails are paved and well kept. There are story pages for kids to read and follow a long throughout the trail. Since we were visiting during the off season, most of the flowers, plants, and herbs were wilted and dormant. Although we didn't run into any bears, you are told to be bear aware here. This visit we came to see the gardens' Halloween/fall decor. Everything was creative and spooky, a nice 30min nature walk for the kiddos or those visiting Alaska. I definitely plan to return during growing season.

I attended the beer in the Garden event and had a wonderful time . The flowers are beautiful and there are numerous lovely spots to stop and smell the flowers and take pictures . You can get so many good ideas to use at your own house . It's fun to see what plants look great together and how to take advantage of the years of experience the staff can share with you when you are deciding what you want to plant . It was a warm Alaska evening filled with amazing plants , great beer , people having fun , and live music . I can't wait for the wine tasting here in August !

Lovely walking spot. My husband and I saw several families with young kids exploring and we were pleasantly surprised at the diversity of plants and garden designs.

A beautiful place to go on a lazy Sunday afternoon and a great place to see fall season. The entrance has a paved trail that makes a completely circle and dirt trails in between. The garden feature different types of plants, flowers, vegetables, and herbs. The kids really enjoyed seeing the giant sunflowers, cabbage truck, herb garden, and pergolas. They charge $10/adults and $8/Kids, seniors, military. Just don't expect to be amazed or see anything new. Overall, this place is great for amateur photographers and it took about 45-60 minutes to see every section of the garden.

This was a bit of Nirvana on foot. The feel was soft and genteel as we meandered along paved and soft mulched trails gazing at flora, greenery and herbaceous delights. A perfectly lovely way to spend a morning prior to departure.

What great gardens! I visited the Alaska Botanical Gardens back on Monday, June 1st and the flowers weren't quite in bloom yet. I remember enjoying the herb garden immensely and taking great photos of a variety of flowers. Even though there was a bear sighting (plus her two cubs) the previous day, we did not encounter them during our visit. We were greeted by a great employee who described the entire gardens prior to us even entering... I guess she wanted us to make sure we knew the lay of the land before we entered. Overall, a great spot to take pictures, see flowers, and escape into a tranquil garden. It looked like there were great programs for kids, too.

The Alaska Botanical Garden is a "hidden" gem only known by...tons of mosquitoes! The mosquitoes were so intense that, after we paid the entrance fee, we left to purchase insect repellent and then returned to the garden. If you apply insect repellent in the parking lot, you will be largely left alone. Despite the mosquitoes, we had a wonderful time at the garden. It's a charming place. Our friend, a resident of Anchorage, was able to apply our three entrance fees towards a family membership.

Beautiful place and so relaxing. I loved this place and definitely gonna come back. Walking in there is like walking in a jungle but with a pretty walk way. Lots of wild berries everywhere. Large selection of flowers and herbs. Friendly staff very informative. Military is 10.00 admission and civilians are 12.00. It's a must see if your in anchorage.

We went in October when everything was dead but it was still a beautiful garden with a nice trail near a stream.

If you've spent any time at all in North Anchorage "tropical paradise" is certainly not the first…read moreterm that comes to mind. This is truly a hidden gem inside Russian Jack Springs Park. You enter through the solarium, a little tropical oasis with two goldfish/koi ponds, an incredible display of tropical plants and trees, and a large birdcage with a tree in it. We enjoyed simply sitting on the bench here and taking it all in. Next is the main greenhouse. There is quite a collection in there, some of the plants and trees have clearly been there a very long time, there are cacti that practically touch the ceiling, trees spreading out overhead, and all manner of other tropical plants that you won't find anywhere outside within a thousand miles of here. And there are starts and seedlings as well, indicating this will continue to be the lovely hidden oasis it is for years to come. I've been to bigger and more grandiose tropical greenhouses, but to have this at all in Alaska is quite an accomplishment. And it's free. A great way to spend an hour or so.

My wife and I solicited quotes from 3 other landscaping companies before settling on Faltz…read moreLandscaping. The 3 others met us at our home and listened to our ideas and took measurements of the areas to be landscaped. Within a week we received quotes from two of the other companies that just parroted back our ideas without any design drawings or detail. The third company jerked us around for 3 additional weeks before telling us they were too busy and gave us a baseless and wildly expensive "estimate" for next year. In contrast, Josie Blumenthal from Faltz came to our house twice to sketch the area, take dimensions and develop our design ideas. On the 2nd trip she took aerial photos with a drone and prepared a concept design based upon our ideas. At our third meeting, Ben Brown, Faltz Landscape Architect, who was mentoring Josie, joined the Team and proposed some new design concepts that we liked a lot. We signed a contract and within a week the Faltz crew was on site. The 3-man crew were experienced, polite and professional. Most of the time while the work was in progress, either Josie, Ben or both were on site, assuring the work was in conformance with the plan. At the end of every workday, the crew cleaned our yard and driveway. Three days later the work was complete. The final product far exceeded our expectations, and we are very happy with the entire Faltz Team, especially Ben and Josie. We felt that Faltz provided a superior product and good value. We'd highly recommend Faltz for your landscape needs.
