I have flown Alaska Airlines more than a few times now and I was almost completely sold on how great this airline is until this past Friday... I guess even in all good marriages there are some issues and thats exactly what this experience felt like. I had been very pleased with their service in the times I have flown them but a few days ago, I was slated fo fly from San Francisco back to San Diego and thats when things went awry. I got to the airport earlier than usual as I had to take an important call so I was there 3 hours prior to departure. Luckily, I came early because when I went to check in, there was an error. I then got in a long customer service line and thats when I learned my flight from SFO was being diverted to San Jose and thats where my departure would be. Once I get to the front of the line and have a customer service agent help me, I find out that San Jose airport is about an hour away! I asked if I could be on a later flight out of SFO or SJC and there were no available flights. So, my only option was to get to SJC as fast as I could and get on my diverted flight or risk being stranded. Alaska Airlines did give me a voucher to get to SJC but the entire time I was on edge if I would make it in time! Luckily everything worked out and when I got on my flight from SJC to SAN, the flight was half empty. SJC is also a pretty hassle free airport too. Id definitely prefer to fly in and out of this airport. I have never had this happen where a flight just randomly diverted, it was a bit annoying honestly. But, the reality is is that I am probably going to have to fly this airline again, no options really. Sigh... read more

Overall uncomfortable. Upgrades to seats don't offer much more. Didn't appreciate the burlap poor barrier to keep the peasants away from the business classes. Lunches were good. I like the integration of the apps to the flights and with ordering food. read more

I ended up having to choose another seat after the first Fuck up and then after I chose a new seat, they changed the type of plane and I got bumped from row 12 to row 15 and apparently row 15 is in front of the exit row and the Fucking seats dont recline. I went to the counter and a very very helpful agent John Aquino rectified the situation and gave me preboard. Since I am 80 years old, it is sometimes hard to navigate the systems on my own. We made first class reservations to fly from San Jose CA to Juneau AK. Should be second nature for Alaska Airlines, right? Our originally scheduled flight to Seattle was delayed for 2+ hours, breaking our connection to Juneau. The best answer seemed to be taking a later Juneau flight and a second choice flight to Seattle. No first class on the later Juneau flight. While snacking, we discovered via Flight Aware that our substitute Seattle flight was delayed so much that the later Juneau flight connection became impossible. At this point, we are back on the original Seattle flight, now more than three hours late, but our first class seats have been given away. Getting to and from their Seattle hub has become too hard for Alaska Airlines. The gate agents have been helpful, but they don't control the planes. read more

Alaska Airlines lost my bags on an international flight from Canada to SJC and their handling of this situation has been abysmal. What Happened: My baggage was misrouted to Seattle (they admitted this in writing). Despite this being THEIR error, here's how they've treated me: * David promised me an email update at 7:00 PM - never received it * Called back asking for a voucher for basic necessities (toothbrush, clothes, etc.) and was told "it sounds like you don't need it" - excuse me? I have NO belongings! * Asked to speak with a manager - REFUSED * Been given zero timeline for when I'll get my bags back * Their email just says "once there is an update" - completely unacceptable They're Violating International Law: This was an international flight covered under the Montreal Convention, which REQUIRES them to reimburse reasonable expenses during baggage delays. They know this and are deliberately avoiding their obligations. Current Status: * No bags * No compensation offered * No timeline provided * No manager will speak to me * System supposedly has an "outage" so they can't track anything I'm now filing formal complaints with the Canadian Transportation Agency and US Department of Transportation. Advice to travelers: If you're flying internationally through Canada, choose ANY other airline. Alaska Airlines doesn't care about their legal obligations or their customers. Alaska flight # 1409 service from SJD - SJC on 11/19/23. I would like to recognize the entire crew on the plane as they did an outstanding job with serving all of the passengers. I would like to recognize flight attendants Jovan and Hayden. These guys worked great together and had a friendly and calm demeanor during the entirety of the flight. They had conversations and made everyone feel comfortable. There was an 8 month old baby that was uncomfortable at time during the flight and would cry. I noticed Jovan was able to pick the baby and walk her around the cabin when it was safe to do so. The baby stopped crying and everything was calm. These are the little things I like to see. During our recent trip to Honolulu, we utilized Alaskan Airlines for both ways of our vacation from San Francisco. The outbound flight was generally satisfactory, with comfortable seating in the first row and attentive flight attendants. However, the quality of the first-class meal left room for improvement. The Peri-Peri chicken, accompanied by a pineapple dessert and a Hawaiian roll, was not to my liking. Regrettably, the return flight from Honolulu was a less pleasant experience. The individual responsible for scanning boarding passes displayed an unprofessional and unpleasant demeanor, which nearly provoked me to pull out of character. However, I managed to maintain my composure with gods help as I was determined not to let her negativity overshadow the positive memories of our fun trip. That put a completely bad taste in my mouth but the flight attendant by the name of Kevin big shout out to him because he turned the whole thing around he had a beautiful aura, fun exciting great customer service in our first class seats this time we're on the third row. I will say the food was very disappointing. I opted out of what they're serving as it was a ham sandwich for one, I'm allergic to pork, and for two, that's not something they should serve on first class they can do better. Nevertheless, Kevin was a sweetheart he made us a charcuterie board and served us our drinks. He was great eye candy too, hehe. However, I must also express my disappointment with the limited food options available in the first class. Given the premium price paid for this service, I believe that the airline could improve the quality and variety of the food offered. Additionally, I encountered an unpleasant situation with a flight attendant whose attitude was unprofessional and disrespectful. While I understand that working in the airline industry can be demanding, it is essential that employees maintain a courteous and professional demeanor at all times. Heard that starting October 15, visitors can skip the 14 day quarantine in Hawaii, if they can show a negative coronavirus test result taken within 72 hours of arrival. Our reservations in Kauai start on a Friday in October after October 15. My doctor at Kaiser says it takes maybe 48 hours to get coronavirus test results, and allows me to get a coronavirus test. Two weeks ago I made reservations with Alaska airlines for flight out of San Jose at 7:15am, arriving at Lihue at 10:30am local time, 1:30pm California time. Alaska airlines keeps the middle seat vacant through October 31. Make an appointment on the Kaiser web site with the San Jose Kaiser drive thru facility for the Tuesday of that week at 4:25pm, the last time of the day. If I came in at 8:25am the earliest time on Wednesday, I would not expect test results until 8:25am Friday, when we are on the plane, or departing for the airport. If I get tested at 4:25pm Tuesday, and arrive at 10:30am local time Friday, that would be 69 hours between time tested, and arrival time. Yesterday, I find out Alaska Airlines has changed my flight times! Leave San Jose 7:15am Friday, transfer in Seattle, and arrive in Lihue at 2:35pm local time, 73 hours and 10 minutes after my scheduled test! Found out that no flights from SFO or SJ on that Friday arrive in Lihue before 2pm local time, or 5pm our time, 72 hours 35 minutes after my test! United Airlines has rapid test for coronavirus for passengers flying out of SFO to Hawaii starting October 15, where you get your results in 20 minutes, the same test Trump and visitors to the White house must take. Only we taxpayers pay for their tests, and you have to pay $250 out of pocket per test, not covered by your health insurance plan! Hawaiian Air Lines is offering $150 rapid tests and $90 36 hour test results for passengers flying out of SFO and LAX starting October 15. Just heard that Alaska Airlines is offering $135 rapid tests for passengers flying to Hawaii. Only for those flying out of Seattle! read more

This airline is by far the worst I have ever flown. They are normally not on time. Recently I was in Seattle flying to Juneau Alaska. My flight was to depart at 8 pm. The airline had some sort of technical issue and all flights were down. Little communication about expectations for when the flights might resume. They suggested we just standby. Around midnight they say our flight is getting ready to go. The gate agent heads down the jet way and upon returning states "the pilots are timed out". How would they not have known that much earlier? The gate agent states they have reached out to other pilots. Around 1:30 the agent says we better make a plan B. We ask what that is and the agent says "I don't know". The flight is canceled. We go to the customer service line and stand for 4.5 hours awaiting our turn to reschedule our flight. The communication is so poor that people are getting very agitated. Finally when we get to the customer service person they say our flight will go a day later. Not going to work for me. I finally get on a flight at 9am that day and upon arriving in Juneau my luggage does not show. I file a document indicating lost luggage as required. My luggage arrives around 10 pm. I pick it up at the airport. No sleep for 40 hours. They never offered a food or hotel voucher. Off I go on my fishing trip a bit tired. Return flight has my luggage and fish box. Get into San Francisco and you guessed it my luggage does not show. File another lost luggage document. Awaiting my luggage delivery. By far the worst experience traveling. Alaska Airlines does not seem to care. Customer service has a give a shit attitude. Stay away from this airline and Hawaiian as they purchased them. read more

I booked first class reservations with Alaska Airlines for a trip from San Jose CA to Walla Walla WA on July 27 2025. The first leg of the trip, from San Jose to Seattle, was fine (despite the yapping dog, yes DOG, across the aisle -- not Alaska's fault). My flight from Seattle to WW was scheduled to leave at 11 pm but Alaska was having a general meltdown at Sea-Tac that day and after several delays, eventually my flight was cancelled. After a long wait in line at customer service, I was informed there were no more hotel vouchers (because so many flights had been cancelled). After wasting an hour on the phone trying to find a hotel, I finally got a tax driver to take me to different hotels until I could find a room. The next day I was booked into the Tri-Cities Airport near Pasco (WW flights were all booked) and I bullied cust. service into a Lyft voucher for the 1-hour drive from Pasco to WW. Fast-forward to Sunday, a week later. A power outage in WW took out half the town, including some parts of the airport. So my flight OUT of WW to SeaTac was cancelled, leaving 60-70 people stranded. An incredible Alaska agent named Sunny loaned her mini-van to friend of hers, who drove a few of us to Pasco to catch a flight to Sea-Tac. When I got to Sea-Tac and started to board, I discovered that the booking agent in WW (NOT Sunny) had downgraded my entire reservation to coach, and Alaska had sold my first-class seat to someone else. If I ever look at traveling again and Alaska is the only option, rest assured I will either DRIVE or not go! read more

Flew into Newark in First and it was a delightful experience compared with the traditional full service carriers. First had a dedicated check in counter at SJC. Self bag tag at home definitely made the process easier! Remember to order the reusable bag tag 2 weeks prior to flying! Meals were pre-ordered online a week or so prior to flying via the app. Boarding was easy with a dedicated first class line. While we were still on the ground, we were presented with a welcome beverage. The bottle of water along with the blanket on the seat were welcome amenities for the 4.75 hour flight. Service throughout the flight was excellent. The flight attendant came through to take our breakfast order and presented the tray of food to each passenger individually. Surprisingly, the breakfast was quite tasty. Their sausage was fresh and the omelette was a tad overcooked. Even the bread was actually edible and warm! After breakfast, we were presented with a snack box containing chips, chocolate bars etc for rest of the journey into Newark. Complimentary tablets were provided with disposable headsets and chargers. Our seat even had both USB and 110V charging plugs! WiFi was available for purchase and text messaging via Satellite was complimentary. I'm super impressed with Alaska Airlines' First Class cabin! read more

The checkin staff was very friendly and professional too. The seating in first class was more comfortable than other airlines that I've flown. Just a note, the Alaska Airlines App. is very easy to use for booking, choosing meals etc... I did choose a fresh fruit and cheese platter for my return trip breakfast :-) They did have other choices such as a gruyere leak omelette. I had a ton of complicated requests and issues (all associated with the fact that I had not been using my mileage awards number). I don't even know where to start with how amazing she was. She was very informed, very helpful and quick - and that should be table stakes for a customer service person but honestly, she was a dream to talk to. She resolved one thing at a time, never acting annoyed at my dumb questions or additional requests - and within 30 minutes or less - I was leaving the call thinking: "why can't all customer success folks be like her?" and "what is Alaska doing right to create an environment where people like her can do their jobs successfully?" Terrible service. The airline damaged my suitcase coming home from Hawaii. I submitted a claim at the airport, and submitted all necessary paperwork for the claim. Just received word that it was considered "normal wear and tear". Not sure how this is normal wear and tear when the luggage wheel was pushed up into the suitcase. This was a baggage handler issue, not normal wear and tear. Alaska Airlines has lost a long standing customer. I will be happy to fly with your competitors. Of course, they have a few employees that have attitudes and talking about drinking the night before behind the counter, which i think it's unprofessional. But all in all, we like Alaska Airlines. I am a Disabled Senior with a Service Dog who has been on 4 different flight without having any issues. On November 7th, flight 399 a wheeler pusher man wearing work gloves came behind me without any warning he scared me and I yelled and my dog also got scared and barked. Even after 3 different passages witness and explained to the gate supervisor that the wheelchair guy was wrong he didn't care and did not allow my dog to travel as a Service Dog.. my service dog goes on my body in a Sack Dog Carrier This supervisor told me the wheelchair man was his friend and he believed him. I was Bullied, Embarrassed, Harassed all as I was about to board the plane at the gate!!! I filed a complaint the next day spoke to Joyce from Customer Care and she said a Manager would call me.. I am still waiting... I don't want this to ever happen to any other Disabled person.. Please I need to fly back home and I need to be able to travel with my door. read more

I was bit torn about giving this place between a three and 4 star rating. I was initially going to give it 3 stars, but the staff here was some of the best I've ever had with an airline, so I'm bumping it up to four. First time traveling with my daughter in a plane and she just turned one two days ago. We knew it was going to be a challenge, but the staff was really on top of helping us out. Making sure our seats were together, getting us through the lines faster, and helping entertain her on the flight. The staff was fantastic. The plane itself? Needs work. Old and outdated and not very much room at all. Felt like a plane from the late 80's. Still an amazing staff is Alaska Airlines saving grace. read more

I was spending the weekend with the roommate in San Jose, so on Friday, December 30th, I flew from Portland, OR (PDX) to San Jose, CA (SJC). My flight left Portland at 1:30pm and arrived in SJ at 3:25pm. In order for the roommate to pick me up, I had to get into SJ between lunch and dinner, so between 3pm and 4pm. Plus I needed to fly out of SFO to PDX, so Alaska was able to accommodate that easily through their online booking system. Overall, my roundtrip flight was under $250. The flight was on a smaller plane. An E75, I believe. So there were only two seats in each row on both sides. Other than a somewhat annoying child who kept opening and closing the window between us, the flight was fine. Short, so I don't expect much. (I can't recall if they had USB ports at the seats, but I think they did?) The attendants went through the cabin for beverage service once and I got a hot tea and water. The hot tea was Tazo Awake - English Breakfast. They also provided a small snack which was a bag of mini pretzels. I've only flown Alaska a few times. Overall, good for short haul flights from the Bay Area to the Northwest. read more

I want to commend our pilot and copilot who flew us from Boston to San Francisco, 7am flight 547 today. There was turbulence for about an hour. The best thing is, they Told us about it, and that it often happened around the Great Lakes area. That calmed my husband and me right away, and we all rode it out just fine. Great airline, great legroom and great service overall. Mu left was comfortable, left right on time and was such an easy enjoyable experience that flying should be. The only negative which was initially a positive was that on my second leg of my journey a tailwind brought us in 45 minutes early, only to have us wait on the ground that much longer as there were no available gates open. Also, what happened to the free pretzels, it's only a bischoff biscuit now. read more

If I can give a 0 stars I would. The personal who help out the elderly takes advantage of them. They wouldn't stop asking for more money or keep mentioning about them wanting a tip ,they were given what they can give them, if they weren't given enough money they would treat them bad.This is not ok taking advantage of the elderly especially some can't defends themselves. We leave our family members in their hands and sad we can't trust them. read more
