Wonderful shop, loved it the second I walked in. I want every beautiful item inside, from the pillows and blankets to the unique vases. Very peaceful yet colorful vibes abound, and of course it smells divine. Horchata is one of my very favorite candles, and I keep it stocked at all times. It's excellent to burn in the kitchen, especially if you're trying to mask an odiferous meal. Their customer service is also top notch, both in the store and online. Since moving from Chicago, I now have my items shipped to me on the west coast, and everything always arrives promptly. Love this place and highly recommend you check it out. read more

Fitting right in and a welcome addition to the new stretch of storefronts on Damen north of Lawrence. While they still have a location on Montrose their new location is so much different. Wide open, light and airy with a wider selection than before of various home goods and crafty pieces. Looking forward to see how they grow into the new space. read more

This is a great place to get some original pieces for your home. (i.e. rugs, pillows, terrariums, etc...) You could go to a larger store and pay the same for mass produced goods that really have no originality...plus the staff is very attentive. Marco was awesome! This is a fantastic store with a wide range of products, from decor to plants to gifts, bedroom, kitchen, etc. Alapash New Home also has an equally friendly owner, who is often behind the counter and excited to greet you and give you a tour of the current wares in-stock. I wanted to highlight a few previous reviews I've seen: Pricing is rather common sense: you get what you pay for, and in this case, that amounts to human hands, creativity, time and unique qualities - please do not compare the items offered to those with cheaper, imitation manufacturing processes. Plants: Sure, you'll find more affordable (to you) at a big box store, but you're also sacrificing quality and human interaction. I value care, quality and customer service over anything else, personally! My only criticism is that often, my purpose to stop in is for a gift, and I wind up buying a gift for myself as well (that's a self-criticism)! 5-stars+, my friend! read more

I visited because of a gift I received. My friend bought me an Horchata scented candle from here. Yes. Horchata. I thought such a unique (and deliciously scented) candle must come from a wonderful store and I was right. Alapash offers some beautiful and unique items for your home. I was intrigued by all the succulents and terrariums available. Many different sizes, many different arrangements. My son decided on a clay-potted star succulent for his grandmother for Christmas and she loved it. Alapash provided care instructions to me but also assured me that MIL could get the care instructions via their website also. The other items that caught my eye were the colorful throw rugs, pillows and many different candles to help you decorate your home to your fancy. The gent helping me was so sweet and so enthusiastic about all the items on display. It's so refreshing to hear an owner's passion for their items and honest love for everything they display. read more

While walking on Damen Street to go eat at Bang Bang Pie, we walked right past Alapash. We stopped after eating and wow what a cool store. What a cool owner. Yes, the owner was working on a Saturday. The store has many beautiful items. All for your home. We rode the train and so we shopped a bit and then decided we would return on Sunday in our car. Which is what we did. There are many unique and interesting items for your home in this store from blankets to pillows to plants and beautiful art decor for your walls. We landed on two birds nest ferns, yes, the owner was working again on Sunday and he told us exactly how to care for the plants. I also purchased a beautiful pot and stand for my fern. My fern is growing like crazy and it reminds me every day of this sweet store and its owner. When you are in Chicago take a trip, in your car, to Alapash. You will love it. read more

We've now purchased 2 rugs and several candles at Alapash and love their products. The rugs are Peruvian, hand-woven (I think) and no two are alike. The store is full of beautiful products that add wonderful touches to decor. read more

I bought an air plant from them $20, at Glenwood arts festival in 2015, the plant died within 6 months. I bought a second air plant from the store at the end of May 2016, and it has already died. I have many air plants and the only two that haven't survived are from this store. They have a "all sales final policy on plants" I will not be buying air plants from there again. read more

Where do I begin? Alapash is an absolutely beautiful space full of lovely things. When I come into the store, it is very difficult to not buy all of the unique things that catch my eye. The succulents and other plants are exquisite, and it's obvious that the owner has a passion for what he does. The store has expanded and now has a rotating selection of art, throws, pillows, and jewelry. I recently brought in a succulent that needed repotting, and the owners took time to give me the instructions on caring for them, then replaced the plant for free! They are friendly and helpful, and always take time to talk with their customers. I can't recommend visiting Alapash enough-you'll be hooked! read more

Love this store! The interior is gorgeous and features the products so tastefully. Alapash makes and sells beautiful terrariums. I've purchased at least 4 of them for myself and as gifts, and my cactus has grown to double its original size over the few years that I've had it. Alapash sells other beautiful home decor, and I've also purchased several ceramic pieces, air plants, and an alpaca throw. The new space, moving from Montrose Ave, is absolutely wonderful! The store is full of unique and interesting items, ones that you can tell are thoughtfully made. Even if you are only browsing, the space is pleasant to be in, unpretentious, down to earth and cozy. Great selection of items for your home ranging from geodes and plants, to jewelry, and journals. This an overpriced, very pretentious store. I guess it is okay for people who have a hundred bucks lying around with nothing else to buy. They sell plants for an outrageous amount of money. Plants! You'll be better off going to Home Depot. The only somewhat okay thing is their candles, which are soy based and smell good, but again, are way overpriced. Perfect place for yuppies. read more
