My daughter was given an administrative discharged after less than two weeks. In those 12 days she did not shower, brush her teeth, and staff claimed she had an eating disorder, was self harming, and was a risk of walking away. Upon admittance I tried to explain her auditory hallucinations and how they affect her behavior. She was eating outside to avoid overstimulation, has a compulsion to pick at scabs (which they deemed self harm, but did not address the wounds or encourage self care, her wounds were undressed and she was never given kind words or alternative ways to cope). The only time I heard of their concerns was an hour before they decided to discharge and transfer to a higher level of care that they claimed to have arranged which was an absolute farse. We were turned away when that facility said she was not a high risk and they did not have a bed. All of the factors the director and staff at Paradigm used to "qualify" her for a bed at this facility were not factual, just their assumptions... very bad ones. If 0 stars was an option, that is what they would get. My daughter left more at risk than when she was admitted. I was not prepared to have her home and she was not stable on medication which was the whole point of her admittance to Paradigm. It took a week to get medication started at Paradigm even though we had a plan and it's effects were not yet seen upon their discharge of her which is proof of their incompetence. Especially the way it was handled. Their skill level did not meet the needs of my daughter. My daughters psychologist was absolutely disgusted at the treatment we received by Paradigm.

This really is the last house on the block, when you end up here it's not like you want to be there. The staff deals with these characters with class and dignity. It's a very high stress job but they show up day after day, sometimes all night, to try to teach full grown adults how to live. Without getting hooked up with the people and services I received from The Vine I would not have three and a half years sober today. And it's not like I behaved when I went there, they dealt with a kid. I am of service there now by going to the alumni meeting and telling the residents how my life has improved as a result of my sobriety. I have a lot of love for my Helen Vine family and y'know it's not a perfect place but it's much better than the rest. People are pretty spoiled when they go there and complain, they should go check out Cherry Hill before they start talking. It's heavenly. The amount of meetings and healing there is opportunity to get there surpasses many others. If you want sobriety you gotta chase it like you chased the bottle and they make it possible there to find what you need to succeed. I know many others that got their start at Helen Vine and have far exceeded expectations and are now contributing members of society. I pay back what I have gotten here by paying it forward, and have a lifelong debt and ceaseless gratitude for what I have received. That's all for now.

While here, I appreciated my sessions with my counselor and therapists. I was able to connect with the clinicians in the unique ways a residential setting allows for, and I grew to trust them with things I'd never previously opened up about. I also enjoyed many of the activities including art therapy, adventure therapy, swimming in the beautiful pool, acupuncture and cupping, horticulture group, and the clinical groups. I made connections with the staff and residential manager as well. Over the course of my time here, Newport became a home. In its safety, I processed my traumas and gained self confidence. I am doing well today because of my experience here. With all of that being said, this place was not perfect. The food was awful, and as someone with ARFID, I often went hungry. They made accommodations for me but took their time in obtaining food I was able to eat. Some of the staff were not the best fit for the job, causing us as clients to feel un-cared for while certain people were on shift. This location was short a therapist while I was there, and gaps were filled virtually, which was very challenging for me. Overall, I would highly recommend this location based on my experience. However, I am aware that the company is currently experiencing some structural changes that may impact its current quality of care. If you choose to pursue treatment here, I hope it is still as healing for you as it was for me a year ago.

Newport was the first residential I have ever gone to and it was one of the best experiences when making a leap into recovery with my mental health and addiction. Since leaving Newport I have also been able to stay sober and have noticed a change in my happiness as well! I have also been out of their care for over 3 months now and to this day I still talk about all of the fun experiences I had while being their, all of the staff that i miss and just how well they treated me. Newport Bayview was hard going to at first but I don't regret my stay at all, 10/10 would recommend

Bayside Marin is an excellent treatment center, I'd rate it #2 in northern California…read more At first, I didn't want to go here, mainly because of negative reviews and hearsay from an acquaintance, and corporate ownership. But I quickly changed my mind. I came here devestated by a very traumatic year of my life, in as much of a mental health crisis as I was in a substance one. Throughout the length of my stay, I was treated with understanding, patience and compassion. The bulk of their program is cookie cutter evidence based, but high quality. The employees at Bayside really care about their work, and their clients, and because of this it didn't have a corporate feel, even though they're owned by Acadia. What made this stay extra special for me was the therapy and one on one conversations I had with staff. I had the honor and privilege of working with the best therapist I've ever seen. When there's a true match with therapy it can be magical, spiritual. I have transformed into a better version of myself because of the one on one work with my therapist, whose intelligence, wit, patience, and compassion helped me to rise above and shine, despite facing some extremely challenging triggers in residential this time. When you can't fully care about yourself, sometimes you can borrow someone else's faith in you until you're able to care about yourself a little more. By the end of my stay, I felt more confident and centered than I had in a long time. I also wanted to say, the tech supervisor helped guide me psychologically and spiritually as I faced various challenges at Bayside, and helped revive my interest in spirituality, meditation and awakening. I had the best spiritual and psychological support I could have asked for, which I thought would be impossible after being at Olympia House in 2022. (Both are good rehabs with their unique strengths and weaknesses. I learned a lot at both, but they're not directly comparable, OH is a little more unique in terms of approach and programming. Bayside was extra meaningful because of the particular therapist I worked with, the behavioral technician supervisor I mentioned and the particular clients I bonded with. They actually listen to client feedback and I watched them make numerous improvements over the three months I was there. With that said, there is room for further improvement. Clients are shuffled over to the main campus from detox with very little explanation of where to go and when, which leaves freshly detoxed clients confused, angry, and feeling disrespected. I've been told they're working on fixing this problem. Scheduling glitches do happen, but that's true of any medium or large rehab. They do their best. And also, sometimes communication can be a little complicated between departments. No place is perfect. Gorgeous campus. Food was great. I was told this was a rehab for rich people who valued aesthetics over content, but that's not what I found here. They have some incredible talent working for them and client socioeconomic backgrounds are mixed. 2026 update: I've had to return to Bayside and things have only gotten better, taking my review from 4 stars to 5. A lot of mediocre therapists have left, replaced by excellent ones, and they have made subtle but noticable improvements to the programming. I'm SO grateful for Bayside Marin, one of the finest treatment centers in northern California and perhaps the country. Last. I would encourage people, strongly, to ask to change their therapist if the initial assignment isn't a match. I did, and it made all the difference in my stay.

The excellence of care, coupled with the seasoned staff, care givers, medical staff, therapists, maintenance, were top notch! And the food they provided, I left a good 10-15 pounds heavier. You will not go hungry! Swimming, nature walks, yoga, art therapy, meditation, even karaoke, etc were an added bonus. I feel so grateful to have spent 4 months at this amazingly, beautiful, serene community. And it doesn't stop when you "graduate". They provide an alumni meeting weekly to follow up, where you can keep in touch with other clients you had grown & started a road to recovery with. I feel blessed I was able to receive the help that changed my life. Thank you BSM Blessings, Kristi K.
