More Concerned About Collecting Money Than Helping Patients…read more My experience with Disability Counseling Services has been extremely disappointing. I am currently on disability leave for mental health reasons, which has put me in a difficult financial situation. I fell behind on some payments, but I have never refused to pay what I owe. I originally had a $350 balance and made a $140 payment today to show that I am actively trying to catch up. Despite making that payment, I was immediately told by Andrea in the billing department that my services would be discontinued. The way she handled the situation was incredibly rude, insensitive, and lacking any compassion. It's disappointing that an organization providing mental health services would treat someone who is already struggling this way. Sometimes patients need a little understanding and flexibility, not additional stress. Another major concern is being charged $175 for appointments that sometimes barely last 10 minutes. I find that extremely frustrating, especially considering the financial circumstances of patients who are seeking mental health support. I am not asking for free services. I am asking for a little additional time to pay my balance, especially after demonstrating that I am making an effort to pay. Unfortunately, my experience has left me feeling like this organization is more focused on collecting payments than actually helping the people who depend on its services. Mental health care should come with compassion, understanding, and professionalism. Based on my experience, I feel this organization needs to seriously reconsider how it treats its patients, particularly those experiencing financial hardship. I hope management takes this review seriously and addresses the way patients are being treated by the billing department.

She embodies a pure quality of non-judgment and curiosity that has made us feel supported to explore the complexity and nuances of our individual feelings, desires, and beliefs and how those can compliment one another. eve has helped us reveal our truths to ourselves and each another in ways that have enriched our relationship and allowed us to really make it work! eve has expertise; eve is fun to talk to; and we're so grateful for the patient, loving space that she's held for us to discover for ourselves whether or not we wanted to stay together. two years later, we are still choosing each other newly every day. we give eve our highest recommendation!

He no-showed w/o excuse for the first appointment, failed to respond to several emails, and canceled my out-of-state home visit just days beforehand. His report was filled w/ typos - getting names and states wrong. He clearly cutted & pasted from another report bc the psych eval had the wrong genders in it (he for she or she for he). He did not review key evidence but made rulings on the subjects therein. He declined to interview a psychologist he was asked to interview and missed critical mental health issues. He failed to ask me about serious and unsupported allegations made against me. He asked if I'd ever had an abortion, but didn't ask my ex about the abortion he procured. His depo testimony was wishy washy. IMO, the report was complete garbage and filled with gender bias. He cited multiple sources about the importance of dads and none about the importance of moms. I was horrified.

What I like most is his PROACTIVE approach. In the past, our couples counselors would ask us what was wrong, and we'd end up re-hashing old fights. It wasn't productive. Mike likes to teach you how to communicate and disagree in a healthier way so that you argue less and enjoy each other more. If we have an issue we want help with, we can dive into that, but if we don't, Mike always has a plan for us. He's taught us dozens of strategies that we can employ--in good times and in bad!--so that our marriage is happier and smoother. We've referred all of our friends to Mike--he's amazing!

We're both driven, passionate people, which sometimes means that we clash instead of collaborating, especially when it comes to giving and receiving feedback. Working with Michael on marriage counseling has been a transformative experience for our relationship. He created a space where we could feel heard without judgment, challenged without feeling attacked, and supported as we worked through difficult conversations. But what truly sets Michael apart is his ability to offer frameworks that are not only tailored to each specific issue we faced, but also unlike anything we've encountered in books or past therapy sessions. These marriage therapy frameworks helped us not only understand each other better, but also uncover our own hidden needs, and how to meet them, both individually and as a couple. When tensions rise, we now have practical, meaningful tools to navigate those moments with clarity and compassion. We're continuing to work with Michael regularly, not just to resolve conflict, but to proactively nurture and strengthen our relationship. We're incredibly grateful for his insight, guidance, and truly original approach.
