A true gentleman, Alan was prompt and efficient. My piano is new again. He played a couple tunes to prove it.

Alan was amazing! He tuned my Yamaha Baby Grand Disklavier yesterday and did it with perfection! He also cleaned the inside, quite dusty. I hadn't had it tuned in 5 years, long overdue! Thanks again Alan!!! read more

Alan created magic with my Great Aunt Hannah's piano. He was able to schedule tuning and minor repairs in time for the holidays. Alan arrived promptly and spent time to determine what was going on with the piano. This was important because it allowed him to understand the history of the piece and how to approach the job of bringing the piano back to life. After our chat, Alan went to work tuning and repairing our vintage piano. I've been so impressed with all that Alan managed to accomplish during his morning session of work. Happily I am back to practicing scales and pieces from my youth. Despite the fact that I am really a novice pianist and the piano needed TLC, Alan exceeded all expectations. He was so very respectful and skillfully fought Great Aunt Hannah's piano back to life. I absolutely recommend Alan. Initially I thought I would hear the grim words that repair would not be possible, that the cost would be through the ceiling, but Alan was more than fair in charging for his services. Whether you have an aged beauty like me or a beautiful high end piano, Alan will bring music to life in your home. Thank you Alan for the heart you put into your craft. read more

Mr. Pierce did a great job f tuning my grand piano. He also cleaned the inside, which really needed it. I'm glad I called him.

Alan was awesome! We have a baby grand that is a family heirloom and he came over and spent some time with the piano... cleaning and tuning it... my wife said he also played some beautiful melodies to make sure it was in good order. Thanks, Alan! read more

I'm so happy to have found Alan to tune my beautiful piano. He is a consummate professional and a musician with an ear that gives him an advantage. My piano has never sounded better. Alan fixed some keys that had started to stick and he went through the instrument thoroughly to get ahead of any future problems. Worth every penny. I highly recommend Alan Pierce. read more

He was friendly, on-time, incredibly detail oriented, and reasonably priced. Highly recommend!

Called Alan before I picked up a used piano and he gave me some tips on what to look for and what sort of costs I might get for moving, tuning, and repair. Before I even asked him to come out and tune the piano, his advice was extremely helpful! Once I had the piano we scheduled an appointment. He was on time and very thorough with his work, and was able to make some adjustments to the piano to save me some money on repairs. Very grateful for his services and I'll definitely be calling on Alan any time I have any piano concerns! read more

Alan was professional, punctual, efficient, and super friendly in tuning my piano! When I was 15, my mom bought me an upright piano. But since leaving home for college at 18, I've been separated from it. Finally, 15 years after getting the piano, I had it moved out to Reno from the east coast. The long, bumpy move and decade + of neglect left it need of some love. Besides tuning, one of the poles that connects to the sustain pedal had come loose. Alan showed up and efficiently got the piano back to like-new condition. He even cleaned it. The piano sounds fantastic, and I learned a lot from Alan as he worked. I'm so happy to have the piano back in my life and in such great sounding and looking condition. Alan performed his services safely while wearing a mask. Thanks, Alan! read more

My 90-year-old grandmother was downsizing, so per her wishes and mine, my parents hauled her early-1900's piano from her dining room in Idaho to our front room here in Fernley, Nevada. It hasn't been played in years, it's well-loved, and it made a heck of a trip, but it's the piano that played my mom to sleep as a little girl, so I reached out to Alan to tune it and check its condition. He is awesome. Very professional, knows his stuff, was very sweet with my kids, and my old scratched up heirloom piano has a new life breathed into it. I played Silent Night to my kids as they went to bed last night (both my mom and oldest daughter's favorite). I'm so grateful to get to share my family heirloom with my kids, and I highly recommend Alan for making it happen! read more

My husband has a Steinway Essex piano that had to sit in storage for a couple of years until we moved into a more permanent home out here. It finally made its final journey to join us recently and required a full tune up. I of course turned to Yelp for help and noticed the amazing reviews that Alan has. I called him and left a message and he was able to come work on it the very next day! When he arrived, he started by cleaning all of the dust and pet hair out. He then began playing all the keys and went to tune then but noticed that due to its extensive time in dry climates the pins were too lose to tune properly. He had to go home to grab another tool after discussing my days schedule with me and when he returned he began the process of hammering in all of the pins and tuning each chord. While it took longer than I had imagined it would, I did assure him throughout that I could be flexible with my work schedule for the day. He also told me the full price up front before beginning the more extensive project. I appreciated his honesty, professionalism and attention to detail. He even followed up with a phone call in the evening after I had the chance to surprise my husband with the tuning (this was his birthday gift). I could not recommend Alan's services more. We will certainly continue to use him for any tuning or repair needs in the future. Thanks again, Alan! read more

I am SO glad that Alan is still tuning pianos and repairing them, and bringing his genius to Reno (although sadly not in Portland anymore!) He was not only a master tuner, but an amazing musician too, with a distinguished 45+ year tenure in the Oregon Symphony. I probably heard him play 150 concerts, as an audience member, over the years. He is an incredibly nice person, very humane. I even remember him saying to me, as he was leaving one time, "Be sure to tell those you love, that you love them, every day. They might not be here tomorrow." I hope this finds you and your family well, Alan! And please say hi to our mutual friend Mr. Marc Wolters, trombone virtuoso, past Principal of the Portland Opera Orchestra! I can't recommend Alan enough. He was easy to contact, and made it super convenient to schedule me in. He's very friendly too! The tuning was very thorough, he is an expert! Alan was excellent, on time and helpful. He did a wonderful job and I would highly recommend his tuning service to anyone.

Alan was amazing! He was able to come by my place just a few days after making the call. He was very professional and was able to get the tuning done in just an hour. He even helped put the decorations back on the piano for me. More importantly the piano sounds incredible - I was so excited to get to playing it again last night! I will definitely work with Alan again! read more

Alan did a fabulous job tuning my piano! I haven't played in a few years but got a used piano off Craigslist that was badly out of tune and had one key that stuck. Alan was fairly priced, punctual, very communicative and easy to get in touch and schedule an appointment with. He took time to meticulously tune and repair my piano, plus told me about its history and inside details. He was also an awesome guy to talk to and he even played a few songs when he was finished - in addition to a talented tuner, he's a talented pianist, too! I am very satisfied with my experience with Alan and will definitely call him again if my piano ever needs a tuning or repairs. Highly recommend him!! read more

We called several piano tuners in the Reno/Sparks area to get quotes and to check their tuning experience. We decided on Alan Pierce to tune our piano. We called him and he came the same day/evening and was on time. Alan was professional, personable and very thorough in his tuning of our piano. I watched him meticulously tune each of the strings across the sound board. All the while, he made casual conversation as he tuned. Alan is an accomplished trombone musician with over 42 years of experience tuning pianos. My son, a UC Davis Alumnus, a music major with perfect pitch, played the piano afterwards and said it was a very good tuning job!! And, Alan's pricing is very reasonable. So, we definitely will recommend Alan Pierce to our friends and family to have their pianos tuned. read more

WOW! Our piano has never sounded as beautiful as it has after Alan tuned it and voiced it. We recently moved our Mason & Hamlin Grand piano and were really worried about finding a piano technician who could tune it properly. Alan set the tuning pegs a bit deeper ( since they had loosened a bit with the change in humidity), tuned it, and proceeded to work on a few of the dampers as well. We're certainly looking forward to having him continue to tune it and do any other needed "tweaking" to keep it sounding as great as it now does. read more

Through his tuning wizardry, Mr. Pierce worked magic on my vintage 1887 upright piano. It sounds beautiful for the first time in forty years, and playing it is once again a pleasure. He is courtly, he is punctual, and he is superlative. read more

Alan was very punctual, courteous, thorough, and delightful. We had a few keys not playing consistently and he was able to repair/adjust them so that our piano is a joy to play again. He will spend whatever time it takes to get the piano up and playing again the way it should. We were grateful that he was willing to come out during this epidemic. Highly recommend him. You won't be disappointed. read more

Alan tuned my piano today and I couldn't be happier. I was able to schedule this appointment very quickly and Alan got it sounding great. Thanks Alan! I'll call you for the next time. read more

Alan did a good job with tuning my old piano.

Alan is great! He does an excellent job tuning, and was flexible with making the appointment. Called on Monday, and was able to make an appointment for Wednesday evening. He tuned it to 440 for me (it was probably about 20 cents off or more), and even was able to tighten the action to fix a few keys that were clicking! My piano was out of tune and now sounds quite wonderful. Very friendly, excellent service, and a reasonable price for the work. Definitely calling him for my next tuning job =) read more

I saw Alan's reviews on Yelp and decided to contact him. I Emailed Alan on Friday morning and in a couple of hours he called me back to schedule an appointment for the next day. Once he arrived he took the time and care expected from a professional with 40+ years experience. We have an old Wurlitzer that hadn't been tuned in probably 15 years and Alan got it sounding amazing! He said that he could tune it where it was at for $99, but could get it up to "concert pitch" for a little more. I do a lot of accompaniment playing and decided on the latter. Boy, am I glad I did! I highly recommend Alan and will use him for all of my "maintenance tuning" in the future. read more

Alan is very nice and curious. He is patient and takes his time to do the right job. I went with him because his rates are very reasonable considering there was a lot of work to be done to my old piano! Thank you! read more

Fabulous! Brought some harmony into our home. Couldn't be happier with how our piano sounds. Alan was on time, very reasonable and oh, gosh have I said how good the piano sounds? Alan was delightful, will definitely call him again. read more

This is the best piano tuner in the Reno sparks area and probably northern Nevada. He was very thorough and very professional and he used to be in a symphony up in Oregon. He even helped me assess the condition of a piano so that I could get the right price. Thank God he moved to Reno. What a God send! read more
