    You can Smoke
    Julie B.

LOVE this Casino! My kind of place. Ride with my husband and we stopped here and stayed in the hotel for a few days, and then returned in for another 4-5 days. Came into the casino several times a day, breakfast buffet at the Iron Skillet was really good. Also had a steak which was delicious. Friendly service and staff in the casino. Lots of machines, and we enjoyed ourselves a little too much if that's possible. Played the blackjack table several times. We won some, and lost some. Mostly sat at the bar playing the other machines, and drinking of course. It's nice that you can smoke inside. There is also a hair salon, CB shop, laundry room, and convenience store. Lots of parking in a well lit area. Definitely felt safe here. Problem is you have so much fun, you don't want to leave! Looking forward to returning when back in the area. I definitely recommend this casino!

    There is no basement.

So...I am not a trucker, nor am I a lot lizard. From my vantage point I don't have much use for a truck stop other than to occasionally get gas. This one just happens to be a block away from my office. In any event, today I ventured inside for an insiders view of the Alamo. Things I learned today include the following: There are truckers of all walks of life here. There are hookers working the lot. Conveniently, there is a motel attached to the business. Did I mention drinking, gambling and smoking? Romantic dark lighting abounds the inside. They can wash your rig and you can park your rig right here in one of 400 well lit parking spaces. While you get your truck washed, how about a shower? They claim to be "hospital clean". I don't care to know or see the showers unless my water heater goes out and its the last shower in Reno. You can wine and dine at the restaurant. Do you need to get your hair did or your ladyfriend's hair did, they got a salon! Not much of a gift shop to buy something Purdy. Might need to go elsewhere. Got a CB or need a CB to talk to your good buddy, they got a CB shop. How about a doctor? You may need one. They got you covered. You can even get a physical. Tempting isn't it? They even have a chiropractor here! I guess if the need is there, they got you covered. Based on all of the amenities I give this place a solid 2 stars because they have a bunch to offer and cater to a certain clientele. I just don't care for the atmosphere and doesn't do much for me. Be sure to ask to see the basement in the Alamo! I'm sure it will be the most exciting part of the tour.

We stopped in here for about an hour today. Have been here a few other times Free drinks if your gambling. If they are busy and you have to go to the bar for a drink they are pretty good about giving it to you for free Machines not too bad... I've hit $100 to $200 a couple times on a minimum bet Staff is very friendly Will stop again when in the area Oh an it's not a big place and the buffet at the truck stop is hit and miss Hotel right next door also

Well to me they hit 5 stars not a typical truck spot as most would think. Food is fresh and good portions are provided. From a salad to some fried goodness, and even cake for a sweet treat.

The slots are really tight here. It's sad as they are clearly taking advantage of truck drivers.

Connie was working the corner bar in the back--fast, efficient, and on point even when things picked up. We usually try to grab a seat at the poker bar, but when Duc is working, it's nearly impossible to find an opening--and for good reason. We met Duc several years ago just passing through the area, and ever since then, we make it a point to stop in when we can. He has the best attitude, comes up with creative drink ideas, and makes every visit feel like you're catching up with a longtime friend. He's welcoming, engaging, and consistently delivers top-tier service. Highly recommend Western Village not just for the gaming, but also for the solid food options and the consistently great service--especially from Connie and Duc.

One girl finally was nice enough to bring me my beer, I tipped, and she explained to me what was up. Don't feel it's right. Later I asked for an AMF drink, girl doesn't tell me anything, then comes back to tell me it's 12 bucks... I understand if policy has changed or whatever, but after speaking to a manager they felt it's better to throw away the drink, instead of explaining to me what was going on. Just upset, as we come here to play, eat wings and drink, always have, but never will again. It should NOT be this hard to get a drink at a casino.

When we mentioned that we haven't gotten our appetizers to our bbq waiter he told us that "it's OK. They have already been canceled. " and that " the kitchen, never put them in" I found this a bit strange that he took it upon himself to cancel them because what if we still wanted them. Before this incident, our waiter had been missing and we wanted a refresh on our drink. We called over a different waiter and asked him to refill our drinks. We don't know if he was OK because he proceeded to add water to my sprite after we told him plenty times it was not water. When filling up my family's water cups, he spilled water all over my meal. The food was OK nothing special. The place was big and it had open spacious seating, but the service was something laughable. This place is so cool and not cool at the same time…read more.. Here's the bad stuff... 1. Super construction going on and the parking lots are a mess, you don't know to go right or left and I got lost finding entrances even after 3 days.really dirty too. 2. The dirt doesn't stop there. Our first room we were given was so smokey I mean burning eyes smokey. There was a box fan sitting outside the room so I think they tried to air it out but it was like someone burned a cigar in there and just closed the door. 3. After going thru a room swap we were given another room. Fine but there was a dirty rag left in the bathroom counter with hairs all over it. Not a huge deal but still, come on right? 4. The late check out. Went to the front desk night before to make sure late check out was ok since we were at an event that morning. No problem they said you got until 4 with an additional fee. Great right? Nope since our room was a room that was attached to a suite they needed us out before that. Just come on again! 5. The service is just rude everywhere. I mean everyone you encounter! The Rim restaurant guy host in a suit..., I'm convinced was high as a kite. Don't believe me, go there and talk to him, holy! The security desk, rude and unhelpful. Anyone you call on the phone from the room, rude. I'm not expecting Disney customer service, but come on man! Someone teach these guys some customer service skills. So the good.... The resort is really cool. Bowling video games, nice casino, everything to spend a fun weekend. We may even come back just to do the pool and stuff to do there. To wrap it up... Lower your expectations. Your not going to get the cleanest room. Most certainly you will be treated rudely. It's a place that could be so epic but falls short due to just taking short cuts in the customer service, organization and just plain care about your whole experience factor. P.S. you will receive at least 5 text messages telling you about how great their spa is.

One positive thing I want to say about the cafe restaurant, the workers every one of them are giving 150% working hard.My compliments to them. One thing that I've noticed and it's very negative is that the prices have jumped up, which has happened in a lot of places, but this is a little extreme. For example, they had a senior menu. They cut out approximately 1/2 of their senior menu, which is ridiculous. A lot of the locals come there and many are seniors the options on the menu amount to almost nothing for seniors now.. BRILLIANT SND THOUGHTFUL! Example on the regular breakfast menu they HAD a chicken fried steak it was a big chicken fried steak like all the other breakfast restaurants in the area now when you order that you get a small chicken fried steak, which was originally from the seniors menu a very downsized small chicken fried steak. Once again that chicken fried steak is not available on the senior menu instead they're using that small chicken fried steak for the regular menu. You're paying almost double and getting 1/2 of the value. CHEAP!! Also, throughout the casino, it always reeks of cigarettes smoke at one point I thought it was a very nice casino. Now I think it's rundown. Nobody really cares about anything. They're very few employees working the floor. The escalators going upstairs are always broken my opinion of the nice casino is now that it's turned into a dump!

After nearly 10 months of planning, I expected the basics to be handled correctly. When we checked in, we were given a double room instead of the King room we reserved. I went back to the front desk and was told that because they were oversold for Thursday night, there was no way to move us into a King room at all during our stay. That explanation didn't make much sense--they confirmed they had King rooms available Tuesday and Wednesday, but because of the Thursday overbooking, they couldn't honor the reservation for any of the nights. So even though I booked months in advance and had already arrived, I was effectively bumped in favor of guests who hadn't even checked in yet. To make matters worse, only 2 out of 5 elevators were working the entire stay, which led to long waits (up to 20 minutes to get down in the morning) and added frustration. After the fact, I looked through other reviews and saw that this seems to be an ongoing issue, not a one-off situation. Between the reservation not being honored and the operational problems, it was a pretty disappointing experience overall. Skip this place.

My job recently sent me through Sun Valley many times a day. I saw the building, noticed the 2-story parking garage and the large, well-lit parking lot, and always something interesting on the marquee. So, on a bright Saturday morning that allowed me a day to enjoy sleeping in, I decided I was gonna finally get up to Hobey's for breakfast. I was impressed with the layout of the casino floor; a short straight walk to the Cafe entrance. A warm, inviting acknowledgment at the podium, and I'm seated right away. Within a few minutes, a super-friendly waitress is at my table pointing out their new menu... and the Breakfast Specials. I chose the Bacon Breakfast Sandwich and a Side Order of B&G's; I plan to have leftovers. I made a wise decision. The gravy is your typical cafe-style, white and creamy, but I swear I could taste a little extra Chef Love. A secret ingredient, maybe. My coffee cup was NEVER empty, and I didn't feel rushed to finish my meal. It was a morning well spent.
