The desert is hot…read more Somehow, Coachella is always hotter than the rest of the desert. Somehow, the Coachella Indoor Swapmeet parking lot is always hotter than the rest of Coachella. So yeah, the walk from your car to the doors of the swapmeet can be lethal in the summer if you aren't drenched in sunscreen and fully hydrated. There is a lot of crap to buy here: Effed-up-looking children's toys, cheap jeans, stereo equipment, knives, guayaveras, ninja stars, jewelry and super-tacky wall decorations. But the reason I came was for the eyewear - the best sunglasses I have ever seen. And they cost just $3.50 each. They broke easily, but you can't complain too much for $3.50. When I lived in Palm Springs, I'd go four or five times a year to stock up. When I moved to Santa Barbara, I wouldn't let a desert visit go by without stopping in the swapmeet. And then, all of a sudden, the sunglasses guy just didn't carry them anymore. I asked if he was keeping them in a secret spot. "I remember you. No, we don't get them anymore. Sorry." I pleaded with him for more information. Can you order more somehow? Who did you buy them from? Will you ever have any more? Is there some way I can contact the seller and buy them direct, in bulk? All of these questions were answered with shrugs. It's been about two years since I've owned a functional pair of those sunglasses. I really miss them. Sometimes I still make the Coachella trek when I visit my parents. Somehow, it's always hotter on the disappointing walk back to the car.

It's everything you would find at the Indio Swapmeet - just in Coachella and on a permanent , smaller scale. Some things here I found to be audaciously expensive (like mexican dresses threads), while other things I found extremely bargained down (large framed paintings) I guess it depends on what you are looking for. I'm sure I'll be back for a painting, but not anytime soon.

Take note that when purchasing shoes from a WSS location if the shoes are defective/ or have a…read moremanufacture defect the store will not honor an even exchange nor return. After speaking with Alex from WSS customer service team he confirmed that if the shoes are defective the customer will be told to 1. contact customer service who then will determine if it is a defect and then 2. communicate back to the store to honor an even exchange. 3. After waiting for who knows how long you will be told to return to the store for the exchange. That is horrible customer service ! So if you're ok with throwing away your money by all means make your shoe purchases at the WSS locations. Do not take your frustration on the employees of these locations they have nothing to do with this policy, they just help reinforce it. Take your business to a shoe store who is more customer oriented, and won't make you feel robbed after your purchase.
