I love this little bookstore. I got here whenever I need to find gifts for my Korean speaking/reading parents and always come away with a minimum of 2 books. I've purchased the Pachinko set (2 volumes in Korean), Crying in H Mart, The Remains of the Day, Never Let Me Go, some cookbooks, and several other translated works (that I don't know the title to in English). I think for Korean books, the prices are fair. I recently bought 2 Ishiguro books (hardcover Never let me go and paperback The Remains of the Day) for my parents for about $45. I'm all for supporting little local businesses so I don't bat an eye when buying from this little place. I always receive lovely service. I'm Korea American but I'm my super fluent in Korean, so I'm able to communicate w the owner with my broken Korean and by showing him screenshots of the books I want that I searched in advance. He's also always willing to order books for you if he doesn't haven something in stock. It's la Mirada, so parking is available and plentiful! read more

There's a place near my house where I can buy Korean books, and it's really convenient. The bookstore is a bit small, but it has all the books I want. I'm not sure if the person who helped me is an employee or the owner, but when I asked about the book I wanted, he found it right away. He also knew a lot about the authors and were very kind to me. Based on the current exchange rate, the price of the books is a bit high, but I think it would be in this price range no matter where I go. read more

Visited to buy my toddler a Korean interactive toy book but noticed it didn't have a price tag so I brought it to the owner at the front cashier and he told me this book is normally $100 in Korea but that he'll give me a discount for $85.. there were other similar interactive Korean books that stated 40 KRW.. I knew something didn't feel right so I found the exact book sold online and it was $45 USD. This place is overpriced and inflated like crazy and it's suspicious that the owner doesn't have prices listed on the books themselves. Scammer!!!! read more

This place is fantastic. I was looking for Harry Potter in Korean, because I always wanted to buy Harry Potter in other languages. I went to Korea last year and bought the first two books. I would've bought the other five books if I knew that Incheon Airport has shipping boxes to put excess luggage in, because I thought that the only space I would be allowed to load my things in was my luggage. I went on an internet search for Korean bookstores because I'm in the Bay Area, and the one Korean bookstore I could find up here doesn't sell fiction/fantasy books, so I had to expand my search into SoCal. This place came up, and to my great fortune, they do have Harry Potter in stock. I called a couple of other places in K Town and even a place in New York to compare prices, and just the subtotal alone, this place beats the others by a good margin. The employee seemed to be kind of busy when I called with customers who were there in-person, so I left them my phone number and they said they would follow up with me when the in-store customers left or what have you. I thanked them for their help, and they were really modest, and just saying stuff like, "Oh, I'm just doing my job" this or "It's no really no trouble at all" that, so I'm really happy that I found this place. Also, we have a baby shower to attend soon, and we wanted to buy toys and children's books in Korean, and the employee was really helpful walking us through their collection of children's books. We're in the process of buying some right now, and we couldn't be more grateful to have found this place. read more

Visited on Saturday and enjoyed my experience. First and foremost, it's a Korean bookstore chain and definitely marketed towards Korean language speakers (bookstore section labels are all in Korean). It's a smaller bookstore, but they do pack a lot of items in one place. I was mostly in the children's section and liked that they had a variety of children's books in Korean (with gorgeous art) as well as bilingual folktales (exactly what I was looking for). These are to the left of the store as soon as you walk in. In the front right corner (from the entrance) are crafts, hobbies, cookbooks, and manga/manhwa if you're looking for those. You can tell it's got that mom and pop shop feel because the older gentleman manning the register also personally comes by to check in with his patrons. Note that there is a bit of an up-charge due to import fees, but it's not too bad (about 4-5 bucks) per book considering how tough they are to find online and price-wise, it's similar enough. You also get a 30% discount on all books if you pay a lifetime membership fee of $5. I also heard that you can have them order specific books for you, and they have a website that you might be able to use to search up books you want (might need a Korean helper if you don't speak/write it). My love of reading was ingrained in me by parents at a very young age. They read to me and bought me books for every occasion and took me to the library or bookstore whenever I asked, allowing me to peruse and mosey through to my heart's content. To this day, I always have a book at hand and read every single day, even for just a few minutes before I fall asleep. As I've gotten older, there are so many titles I've enjoyed and want to share with my parents. Since both prefer to read in Korean, it's not always easy to find the books translated into the language but if they have been, I've always been able to find it at Aladdin. If they don't have it in store, they will order it for you and it usually comes within a week or so. They carry a wide range of genres and many new titles and I've shopped there for myself when looking for a book that was originally written in Korean by a Korean author. Sometimes there are words and phrases that don't always translate well and if possible, I like to read the story in its mother tongue. The service is very friendly and the store is nice and clean. For those looking for books written in Korean, this would be the place to go. read more

Service is good but they did not have any selections with children's books. I was looking for children's fairy tale books or other Korean learning books, but the inventory is definitely old and per all imports, expensive. There was a children's book for 9,500 WON which is about US $9 but they charged $17 and some change. I love supporting small businesses but with the lack of inventory and over priced conversion, I will not be coming back to this place. read more

Great bookstore for those who want to read Korean books or interested in Korean culture/ language

After going to so many Korean book stores in SoCal, I decided that this is the best Korean book store choice in the region. The owner, a middle age Korean gentleman, is actually knowledgeable about books and is able to answer many questions in different genres/subjects. I think he's pretty knowledgeable in general. He is also very helpful in a way that he kindly explains what a book is about and is able to make honest suggestions. I like the feeling of having actual owner or manager who knows about books helping me making decisions on which book to consider reading/buying. This book store is good at back orders at a fair price as well. If you tell him what book you want he will walk through with you on a PC screen right away to make sure that he can back order it, and is even able to give you an accurate quote/pricing. Even though I didn't have anything in my mind, I always walked out spending a good $50-100 here and I never regretted. Aladdin Fullerton shows what a book store should be. read more
