I was expecting a tiny shower, but Its plenty of space for 2 to get raunchy. I even like the updated tile and the floors throughout are really nice. I scoured the room for bugs...nothing and other than the 1950s air-conditioning, it's clean enough I'm comfortable. The bed is great, but almost gotta take a running head start to get into it. The sheet you sleep on is like a light face towel...sorta ruff, but soft..its hard to explain, but it's actually really nice. The pillow top is nice, but it's not been rotated so the head is lower than the feet, so I gotta sleep with my head at the foot or my boobs will suffocate me, but Its comfy. I am assuming they don't have breakfast, and I'm not taking a chance on looking in the ice bin way up front... but I hope more people look past the ruff exterior and give Comfort Inn the finger as the unload into this high rise of a motel!

If you like a firm mattress and reasonably priced hotel with no frills this is a decent place. We have worked in Meridian and stayed at several different hotels and paid a lot more money and the rooms weren't as clean. I won't be staying here again because I need a softer bed and the king we slept in killed my shoulders and back, BUT my husband said it was fine for him and he slept good. Hope this helps.

Just a few small notes, Behind the Main door the maids have not cleaned the cob webs from the ceiling, a few mosquitos have been caught. The door in the toilet are is peeling from the bottom and needs to be looked at by the maintenance staff. Will comment about breakfast in the morning. Glad I waited till this morning. Just Waffles, cereal and Bread in the morning. Only regular coffee which was warm, DECAF you have to make in your room not offered at the breakfast area.

Its an recreational hot-spot with a range of different activities such as camping, hiking, boating, water skiing, BBQ-ing, fishing, hunting and has its own marina at one of its campgrounds and a few cabins are available as well. The day-use parks have picnic tables and basic facilities and some of them also have sandy beaches for swimming access. This is where I would go when wanting to grill in the backwoods and do some out door activities and relax with a few brews at hand. The lake is a great place to relax and reflect and simply enjoy the country. Enjoy!

This is the first place that not only my camera but also my phone glitched multiple times) Queen Kelly Mitchell died during the birth of her 15th child on January 31, 1915 in Coatopa, Alabama. Her husband, King Emil, sought local medical assistance and offered $10,000 if doctors could save her, but the efforts were in vain. The couple were the leaders of the Mitchell clan of Romany people, one of the largest in America. It was decided that she would be buried at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Meridian, MS. Her body was placed in a frozen state for 12 days, to allow time for more people to come and pay tribute. 20,000 people attended her funeral with music and celebrations included. Legends suggest that Kelly was buried in a $15,000 gold casket and/or that 20-dollar gold pieces were tossed into her grave. Her grave has been damaged multiple times by grave robbers. You might notice random things atop her tombstone, local lore states, "If you go up there and leave her a trinket, she'll come to you in a dream and solve all your troubles."

I like to imagine the industry that played out in the space where I'm resting, the thought of someone taking a break from wheeling and dealing to look out of this same window in the 1940s and what else was going on around them. I'd never been to Meridian before, just passed through on the same road trip home after the holidays. It's about 4 and a half hours from NOLA and the perfect place to stay before the final leg of the trip home so that we'd be home at a reasonable hour. Meridian feels a bit frozen in time and this hotel is situated in a quaint downtown area. It's not very lively, even on a Saturday night but I believe the rooftop bar here might be where the action is (I passed it by when getting water in the gym that's on the same floor). I like a Tribute property, which always promises a less corporate/more boutique stay. It has its charm (original mail chute, be still my heart!) and quirks (tiny rooms, old timey elevators that take their time). The main lobby is mainly the restaurant (closed when I arrived around 9pm on a Saturday) with reception in what seems like bank teller windows. I appreciate the convenience of a Starbucks right next door (entrance from the lobby) and if we weren't looking to rest after a endless car ride, there's a few places to get food/drinks within walking distance. Rooms are cozy, beds are excellent and the bathroom is small/nothing special. Would this be an ideal stay for a vacation? Probably not, though I don't expect a vacation in Meridian anytime soon, if ever. I'd stay again, as a more interesting road trip stay than your typical Marriott Courtyards/Fairfield/Residence Inns. When we stayed it was only a little over 100 dollars/night, which is pretty sweet.

This is an old school place and might not be the most updated but there's no bugs, the bed is comfy, the ac is great & the hospitality was top notch! Extremely fair prices for what you get. Doesn't include the towels and TP but DG is right next door if you need anything. We had a shutdown at GP & stayed for about 10 days and had no problem supplying our own towels & toiletries. We are genuinely sad to be leaving C&S. We made a friend for life meeting Mr.Carl and hope to be back & see him again!
