We had initially reserved a boat for Monday [5/3], but the weather was so bad and scary that we called and they allowed us to postpone until Friday [5/7]. It was a *beautiful* boat day! Blue skies, not a cloud to be seen, albeit a liiiitle bit chilly [not their fault!] and we'd forgotten our long sleeves! :( Grant checked us in, Jacob helped us with the boat [didn't catch the name of the gentleman who actually put the boat in the water with the giant forklift, but he was awesome, too!]. We did our annual Lake Tuscaloosa jaunt down to Sharpe's Landing and Rock Quarry boat ramp and back up to Tierce Patton Road. Jacob even helped get our cooler out of the boat in into the car!! You often just don't get customer service of that caliber anymore! Granted, they've ramped up the charge [$375 from $250 for the day] from the previous owner... But I *think* they're about to either upgrade the boat(s) OR give them a little more power [from 115HP]. They also have wet AND dry storage and perform maintenance/repairs on engines, but I have no experience with those aspects of this business.

I could not imagine ever having the wedding anywhere else. I was so pleased with the service and it made life really easy to have everything in one place. He worked with the caterer, the cake delivery folks and the DJ to make sure everything was set up perfectly. All of my guests loved the venue! We had such a good time we didn't realize that we were already back to the dock at the end of the night. Checked into my hotel and crash. A couple days later saw the Belle lit up from my hotel room. Called up the captain and he said the boat isn't running but his bar was open until 9. We dashed through the pouring rain and down to the river from the Indigo and got on board. Captain Dobson was very welcoming. Made us a drink and talked to us for a long time about the Belle and the history of the town and the state of Alabama. He stayed an extra half hour chatting with us. Great guy. I'll be sure to make it for a cruise next time.

He was friendly and gave us a few ideas where to fish and told us no rush to get back at noon if we wanted to stay out a little longer. We got back about 1230 and friendly dock hands came running out to help us arrive. Boat was pretty clean and ran well - we really can't think of any issues. There were four of us and we all caught fish - bass, bluegill and catfish. The adjacent bar and restaurant next door (Pelican Cove Grill) had live music and was busy and inviting but we had plans so didn't stay. There will be a "next time" for sure!

He literally did that to my girlfriend and I today at about 3:15 outside Pelican Cove Grill.  We parked in a handicap spot, with our handicap tag displayed properly. As we walked in he asked her, "are you going to stay long because that's a handicap spot." I told him to mind his own business, and he lost it. He said that it was "HIS" business (repeating this several times for emphasis despite Pelican not actually being his business). I told him she had Rheumatoid Arthritis and he told me he was getting security. I was too appalled to stay and eat so we left. So big shout out to Dale Shepherd for harassing people who don't look handicapped enough to his liking. Next time we'll bring crutches (provided that's ok with Dale).

We brought our own food and used the soda fountain on board the boat. There were about 20 of us aboard the ship and everything from the planning to the actual event on board was "smooth sailing!" We had a 4 hour reservation, ate in the AC on the lower deck, and danced the day away on the upper deck. It was hot, but there are covered areas upstairs to help beat the heat. Captain Jason and the crew were gracious hosts and very friendly to our family. The captain also invited me to the wheel to drive for a bit! (a little scary, but a great experience) He also poses for pictures! We loved our time aboard the Friendship II and I would highly recommend you booking it for your next event!
