Chunky River Recreation Trading Post and Campground - Campgrounds Near Me - Chunky, Mississippi

The rv site is situated next to the Chunky River in a beautiful wooded park. A train track and old trestle run along one side, and are a cool feature if you don't mind the horn late at night. Most of the sites do not include sewage because of the proximity to the river but there is a dump station at the trading post. There is also a bathroom and shower and a laundry. What a sweet find! Want to do something different? Come over to Chunky River Recreation. Bring your camp gear, rent one of their kayaks/canoes, throw your gear in and row down the river to set up camp! We found a beautiful sandy beach halfway down river between our launch area and our pickup point. Talk about getting away for the weekend! There's no road access to these beaches and they're perfect for camp setups! Plenty of small wildlife and views to enjoy all long the Chunky River. It's perfect for the whole family. We unfortunately went when the river was low so at a lot of points we had to get off the canoe and walk it past the rocky low points. Nevertheless, it didn't keep us from having a heck of a time! Tip: call ahead and ask about the river flow and balance you canoe when packing it with gear to avoid it flipping down river. read more
