I'm on my way to Tejas for non-festival of lights activities but right now I'm at the Greene County Rest Area I-20 WB for "reasons" (Alabama State I-59 Rest Area on Google) even in the dark this place is alright. plenty of well lit parking and a security officer present as an active deterrent to potential riff raff; he directed me towards the men's room while I was taking pictures of the interior art work because I apparently look the part of a ruffian so good on them for acting instead of reacting. like most Alabama rest areas this place has a dump station and it's usually operative. otherwise this is just another place on a long list of similar places and unremarkable except for the dude keeping watch... Pulling up I thought, "oh lord this run down roach motel" but as soon as I opened the door to a crisp cool room with a clean smell I said, "oh sh*t, okay "... the room is a very gracious size, with plenty of space and a fridge. I was expecting a tiny shower, but Its plenty of space for 2 to get raunchy. I even like the updated tile and the floors throughout are really nice. I scoured the room for bugs...nothing and other than the 1950s air-conditioning, it's clean enough I'm comfortable. The bed is great, but almost gotta take a running head start to get into it. The sheet you sleep on is like a light face towel...sorta ruff, but soft..its hard to explain, but it's actually really nice. The pillow top is nice, but it's not been rotated so the head is lower than the feet, so I gotta sleep with my head at the foot or my boobs will suffocate me, but Its comfy. I am assuming they don't have breakfast, and I'm not taking a chance on looking in the ice bin way up front... but I hope more people look past the ruff exterior and give Comfort Inn the finger as the unload into this high rise of a motel!

It got pretty cold at night but that is because my polar bear kid turned it down. Room was spacious and the bed was very soft. Very well maintained establishment and super friendly staff. Always greeted with a smile and helped us with a fork late at night upon arrival. Restroom was nice. Only thing is the toilet made a loud noise that lasted until filled. Blackout blinds worked amazingly. Once opened in the morning, light filled the whole room. The hotel was quiet, but you could hear the noise from the highway and street. I come from a big city so it didnt bother me at all. Lastly there is a gas station within the same area you can easily connect to without getting on the street.

Not only do they not change the sheets, they don't even check for soiled linen. In the morning I told the desk clerk that my reservation was made by my granddaughter and that she forgot to ask for my military discount. The desk clerk wrote a new bill and printed me a receipt. When I got to the car I read the receipt and saw that instead of a military discount I received a MILITARY SURCHARGE. The new bill was a dollar more than the original bill. By now I was fed up and just left.... never to return.

The whole place looked like someone had raided the house of a recently deceased grandmother who hadn't updated her furniture since 2003. We were told that the breakfast was "made to order", but that turned out to be telling someone behind a window to make something. There wasn't even a menu which seems like the least they could do. The rest of the breakfast, if you could even call it that, was some prepackaged shit that looked like it had been there since the beginning of the pandemic. Real classy. Not gonna lie the coffee was pretty decent. So long demopolis, I hope we never meet again.
