1 day gas furnace replacement turnout to be 3 days and a failed inspection. It was in the contract as to where the venting was going. They didn't install it where I was told they would. Ended up destroying my ceiling in my garage (Lost the fire rating). A supervisor Jerry showed up and shook his head. Told me the men are inexperienced and they would fix it.(Never did)Vent pipe was facing up in the air outside, No screen, Rain ,Snow,Leaves,Pine needles, Birds, Mice....I can go on but you get the point.Jerry made a lot of promises an didn't follow throw. So they will tell you what you want to hear but.....Do nothing. The Master Plumber told me they didn't know how to vent this unit.Took off early. Thank god for YouTube ? The crew would show up at 8 .Walk around for a few minutes.Then get back in the truck an leave. Supplies I'm guessing but it doesn't take all of them to go. Came back around 9.30 . Worked till 11.30 then lunch time. Back at 12.30 and worked till 1.15 . Took off again. Back at 2.00 and went home at 3.00 .An you wonder why I went three days with no heat in my home. Two weeks later I called in for the inspection. (Not my job) but after all this. Needed to make sure my family was safe from this unit burning my home down or Carbon monoxide. The inspection failed do to fire rating in the garage under and screen on venting outside. It's been two months now and no one fixed this . I gave Jerry dates as to when we will be home.(9 different days) He called once AFTER the days we could be home for repairs. Lots and lots for broken promises.Jerry was convincing enough that I made the mistake of paying in full.I trusted him for his word. Now I have to pay to fix my home. Also asked for a price to fix a leak 3 times. Was out of town and had a clogged drain pipe wife called them and they came out to run a snake in the like total charge was 654.00 for a 34 minute service call, absolutely outrageous pricing. on our part my wife agreed to upfront quote but didn't know any better and i feel they took advantage of that. i will never use there service and will be sure to not recommend them to anyone. read more

I will never do business with this company again! I was in a desperate situation as my water tank was leaking water into my basement. I feel they used that to their benefit. My water tank was under warranty yet it still cost me $4800.00 to replace. The technician told me there was a tank in stock but there were other parts that needed to be ordered. He made it seem like they'd be back out to do the work in a day or 2. I waited almost 2 weeks for them to come back and replace it. No apology from the technician. They also made me do cosmetic repairs that I did not want to do but they threatened that they would not do the job if I didn't agree to it. At that point I did not want to start over with another company. Like I said they used my situation to their advantage. I had to make numerous calls to them and waited almost 4 months for a small refund for the water tank. read more

Geoff from Al Terry came to fix a burst pipe that caused thousands in damage to my home. It turns out that he didn't correctly solder the joint on the other end of the house, which slowly leaked and wasn't noticed until it had soaked up all of the insulation and began leaking through my daughter's ceiling. He came back and made the repair, admitting his fault. I had thousands more in damage, not to mention the inconvenience of relocating my autistic daughter to the living room while repairs were being done. I get that mistakes happen, but it has now been months and my insurance company is still fighting to get paid. They admitted fault, yet are not owning up to their error and making things right. I scheduled a service two weeks out, took time off work, and literally waited by my window for Al Terry Plumbing and Heating to show up. They didn't show up in the designated time slot, when I called to ask where they were I was told that they had already been to the building and attempted to contact me. Prior to this i had called two times the morning of the service call to ensure that they were showing up, and to ask if they can provide a quote for some additional HVAC work while they were working on the other items. I literally waited by the window for there van to make sure I wouldn't miss them, they never came to the building and then blamed me. I didn't have any missed called or emails from anyone. I had a problem with a broken water heater and needed it fixed fast as it was leaking into the floor below in a condo building I live in. I had seen their ads on TV, and they are near where I live. I went to the office and spoke to a Ted who was very polite and helpful. He had me call the scheduling person, Kelly, who was wonderful. This was at 3 pm on a Thursday afternoon. I was a new customer. She said she could have someone there at 7:30 the next morning. I got a call promptly at 7;30, from Kyle, one of their plumbers. He was terrific too. He went over what they offered, etc., and I told him to go ahead and install the new water heater. He finished at about 1 pm and did a very neat, professional job. I was very happy that they took care of me immediately, especially as I wasn't a previous customer. I signed up for their Diamond Club to get additional discounts and preferred service later on. All of the three people I dealt with were excellent representatives for the company. I probably could have shopped around and saved a little money, but with something this important, I'm more concerned with quality work and great, fast service - which Al Terry delivered in spades. The old saying - "sometimes,the less you pay, the more it costs", is true, and especially with something as important as pluming and heating. read more

Service Tech came to the house (a bit later than expected) but showed up nonetheless. Explained what work we were looking for and since it was a water filter system, he had to take a sample to get tested. That was just before Thanksgiving 2018. Here it is February 5th and I have not had ONE phone call, nor have I gotten my water test results, nor do I think their company cares. I called 2 days ago to let them know their tech failed on all levels of customer service. Expected a return call from someone in authority, but nothing. No call, no message, nothing! I'm done with your company time to move on to a company who will want my money. Run far away!!! read more

After running away from Heritage (thank God) Al Terry Plumbing & Heating is the next company I tried. I had them come out for a service call on a gas boiler, turned out to be some electrical thing. That boiler is 32 years old but they were able to get the part within a few hours I think, and fixed the problem. The cost felt reasonable. While waiting to hear back about the part, the guy also answered all my random questions about boilers, which was really nice. (If I were him, I'd have gone out to hide in the van, but he was gracious.) That was like two years ago or so. Today I had them tune and clean both gas boilers. Total cost $348. I found both service men to be timely, polite, clean, and knowledgable. I needed a copy of the invoice/receipt immediately for a reason, and the tech was able to email it to me from his tablet, literally as I asked him for it. Oh, there was actually an error on that invoice, and I really did need a copy ASAP. I called the office and got a corrected invoice while I was still on the phone. Awesome service. I think they're great, at least in my experience. If I were staying in the area they would be my go-to for plumbing and heating stuff. read more

I moved into a new house and scheduled a furnace cleaning for a Monday morning. During the $239 cleaning, the service technician didn't notice one of the thermostats wasn't working. I called back that Friday because the house was FREEZING, and asked that they waive the $79 call fee because they were just there 4 days prior. No dice. The service technician then wanted to charge me almost $500 for a new thermostat!!!! Something that can be purchased at Home Depot for $30. When I questioned the price, the manager told me that their thermostat came with a warranty! Seriously!? I don't know how he could have given me that response with a straight face. Anyway, I wasn't born yesterday, so I refused the $500 thermostat, to which they charged me a $74 "diagnostic fee" for telling me the thermostat was broken. So all in all it cost me $392 for a furnace cleaning and for a technician to tell me I needed a $500 thermostat AND I was left with no heat when the temperature outside was 20 degrees. HORRIBLE first impression and I will NEVER use their service again. I have no idea how they have so many good reviews, but I think they are thieves. read more

It wasnt supposed to be super c9ld so I made an appointment Thursday between 12 and 230. At 230 I called to ask the ETA and was told everyone was delayed for no heat calls. You mean like my no heat call? That I made an appintment for 3 days ago? The guy finally showed up about 4:45. He was friendly and seemed knowledgable. He told me what I already suspected. My heater needed replacing. Since Friday was a Holiday someone would get back to me Monday (today) with an estimate and to set a schedule. I called at 330 to follow up. I was told the estimator would call me right back. No return call. My options are limited so I will press on, but so far I am seriousky dissapounted with their customer service and general insincerity. read more

I've used Al Terry for ~3 years now at three different spots for my boilers and hot water heaters, and they always do great work at at least competitive pricing. The most expensive job I got quotes from 5 different places around Manchester and Al Terry was the easiest to deal with, fastest to respond, and lowest price with the best warranty. Sometimes they get busy or make mistakes, I'm sure, but I've always found them to be earnest and they bend over backwards to accommodate customers. read more

We set up an appointment around a month in advance only to call to confirm the day before to find out they didn't have me scheduled. Got on the schedule for the same day as planned, just later in the day than it was originally supposed to be. Planned and had someone stay home from work just to receive a phone call the day of the appointment that they don't actually do this kind of work that we very clearly explained when first setting up the appointment and on the follow up call about the appointment. Had they said so originally, we would have gone with someone else and would have had heat already. Really crappy move to allow someone to be without a functioning heating system for so long in the winter just because you can't get your act together about scheduling. read more

They cut it with a piece of cardboard underneath it, but put an approximate 8 inch slash through my linoleum in the bathroom, then covered it with a rug. Al Terry offers competitive pricing, quick service, friendly, professional workmen, and an honest reputation. They tout a fair amount of religion thumping, which IMO is annoying, but you can't argue with the great service; it's worth this heretic supporting someone boasting values I don't agree with, knowing I'm getting better service. And because they don't sell heating fuels, you can feel confident knowing that they aren't going to screw up your furnace/boiler to get you crappy fuel economy so they can sell you more fuel. I called Al Terry with a complaint of not enough hot water in the shower. I told them I suspected I needed a pressure regulator since I knew I had an issue with extreme high pressure coming into the house from my town supplied water. After the tech evaluated my situation he said it was a bad mixing valve. I trusted that he knew what he was doing so I had him go ahead and change the valve. I was charged $140 diagnostic fee plus $480 to change the valve. The valve change did nothing to fix my problem. I had to argue with the scheduler to have them come back at no charge to me to assess my situation again, This time he gave me several more options each costing at least $500 each!! And he did not know which one would actually fix my problem!! I ended up going to another plumber who agreed with my original diagnosis and he installed a $50 regulator!! R.M. read more

They are very nice and courteous however their prices are MUCH higher than every single competitor in the area. Quite often double what others charge for the same work. I was told their prices are so high because they guarantee their work for 5 years. They also noted they charge these prices to pay for advertising. It seems to me they would be better served charging a realistic price and do a quality job, the power of word-of-mouth is much greater than an annoying ad on the radio that nobody pays attention to. Again I cannot comment on the quality of work as I was unwilling to pay their rates. ($300 to replace a simple, easily accessible ball valve...) so my review is based only on their pricing. read more

The worker did not show up on time. He was unfriendly. They made me wait 4 days to get a plumber to my house and for faster service they offered after hours service for twice the money. For a clogged drain they hit me with a $69 service call and $256 to unclog a DRAIN. VERY overpriced. The tech was indifferent, very overweight and showed up with an iPad to bill me. When I asked why they couldn't give me a phone estimate their excuse was they don't know what the problem was. I said CLOGGED DRAIN. I was quoted $500 by Jerry over the phone to run a gas line to the kitchen from the basement for a new dual fuel range and have a cold water line run for a pot filler. When Jerry came to the house he said it would be closer to $800 for the job. I asked him to email me the quote. When I received the quote via email I was shocked at the difference in price. The new price was $1668. I emailed him back asking for an explanation and have received no response. They are misleading and cannot be trusted! Don't waste your time with this company! read more

I just a quote to fix my shower with MY OWN PARTS AND ONE HOUR OF WORK. It was $785. Medical Doctors don't even make that an hour.
