If you want to get something to eat before sampling the best nightlife that Valencia has to offer then Al Pomodoro is probably the place for you. A friend and I went here for dinner and the food is just perfect for sharing while having those great conversations that amazing food always seems to promote. The restaurant balances the look of an old-style Italian home with the freshness that you would expect from a modern restaurant. We grabbed some pretty diverse options so we could sample the best that this place had to offer. The Cesto Fritto was fresh and the batter on the tempura was crisp - the ideal combination. The Sgabei Con Salse was a fresh take on pizza, which we have been looking for all our lives! It takes pizza dough, fries it and serves with a creamy cheese sauce, spicy salsa and black olive tapenade. You have to go to Al Pomodoro just for this. The Tortellini Rustica Di Noci is like a taste of Italy on a plate. It is made fresh from scratch and tastes like it! The pasta is filled with a range of ingredients that includes nuts and tastes like you are sat in the Italian hills surrounded by family. Just amazing from the first bite to the last. We fought over every forkful! If you love the taste of truffles (who doesn't?) then the Rigatoni Tartufo Gorgonzola will delight you. It did us! Then the desserts are just as mouth-watering as the rest of the food. We got affogato and carrot cake with vanilla icing so we could share together. They both were the ideal way to finish a great meal. I recommend you visit al Pomodoro whenever you are in or near Valencia. It is worth it for the trip alone.

By our hostel's recommendation, we went to find al Pomodoro down the side street. I haven't had pizza since Italy but this one was amazing. I had this great pizza called the Diavolante, with spicy aubergines, fontina cheese, spicy salami, basil, tomato and mozzarella. Can I say AMAZING again?! My friends' choices were just so good I didn't even get a taste! The atmosphere in there was really nice, with friendly waiters. It didn't stay quiet for long - as soon as one table was cleared it filled up pretty quickly again.

Great pizza and pasta tucked away on the back streets. Make sure you reserve. Gets booked up fast.

La Vita e Bella - 2005 my 15 month old and her father and I had an amazing meal here. My daughter went back 17 years later!

Lots of other shops & restaurants were close by in case you needed to walk off your dinner. For that meal (yes we went back a second time!) we chose the lasagna & for an appetizer we chose the fonduta 5 fromaggi to snack on. It was a huge portion & OMGoodness was it delicious!!! The lasagna was served, and it was also a hearty portion. I'm a lasagna snob because I make my own, & it's very seldom that any I get at a restaurant that tastes anywhere as good as mine is. But the hefty slice we got at La Vita E Bella was delicious as well. It tasted every bit as good as mine, if not better. I like lots of meat & not a ton of ricotta cheese in it. We finished most of the lasagna (that we split) & we ate about 90% of the cheese bread appetizer. I'd most definitely recommend their restaurant!! We returned the next day for a pizza to split. It was awesome as well!! The service (Marco was our server) on our first visit & Alejandro for our second trip was attentive without being over bearing. Marco is the one that suggested the 5 cheese baked bread yum!! We sat outside in the open air & watched people go by both visits. Nice, we would eat there again, but we had to move on to another city in Spain.

This was a nice place until this italian guy was working. he was complaining of how tired he was. probably was hungover. he was extremely rude to me and refused to serve me a beer in a proper pint glass. he served me in a small paper cup. i tried to explain i would sit down and possibly eat a pizza to be served in a proper glass. he was extremely rude and told me no. the paper cup was half the size of a pint glass and i explained this to a waitress. she was nice and tried to talk to him but he was rude to her to. this place needs to get rid of staff that treat people badly. after that he was yelling at me in front of everyone so i told him well give me my money and ill go get a proper beer elsewhere. he slammed my money on the counter and was being extremely ugly. for people including staff members to see that this kind of behavior is accepted is not a good look for the business or customers. he really made me angry so i took a photo of him. he then tried to grab my phone out of my hands getting physical with me. in no way is all that worth one beer. management should fire him.

While you can't choose anything in particular, you can rule out toppings if you detest something or have a food allergy. I went here recently with a two friends, and ordered six pizettes to share. All of them were surprisingly good, and it was fun not knowing quite what was on each one until we bit in. However, there didn't turn out to be quite as much variety as we expected - all the toppings were mostly variations on different cheeses, with some hame and salami thrown in. There was nothing particularly unique or exciting, which might have been a good thing ;-) All told, this is a fun place to eat with friends; I'm sure I'll be back!
