We used Al Pearson to replace our failed septic field. Jim, the company's operator, was our point of contact. We were initially told that it would be a 3-day job. This morphed into 3 interminable weeks. Although there was a period of 3 full days of rain, which did create a bit of a work stoppage or delay, it wasn't enough to explain the drawn out completion of the job. It appears that Jim runs multiple jobs simultaneously. Also, unfortunately, there were many quality errors which became evident when the County inspector discovered them during his multiple trips to our home. Jim appeared to react to the news of these deficits in a passive-aggressive way and his wife asked us for an 'intermediate' payment (i.e., before completion of the job), despite the fact that this was not provided for in the contract that we signed with Al Pearson. All very disappointing and unsettling. We are thankful for the expert knowledge of our County inspector who managed to catch Jim's many defects (the initial lack of a filter on the septic tank, then the improper (crooked) installation of the filter, the lack of clean-outs as required by regulation, etc.
This was a 5-figure job by a company that is supposed to be experienced and yet it dragged on, involved subpar work and required oversight and goading of both the County inspector and us as homeowners. It shouldn't have been like this and I can't say that we would recommend this company to others requiring replacement of a septic field. read more
