Now I remember why I stopped going to Akumin..my first exam was scheduled for 840am I arrived at 800am. It's now 930 am and I am still waiting to get my first of 2 exams done. Horrible customer service, the front desk person is non communicative and slow as molasses. I guess I'll set up my laptop and work here for the rest of the day. As of right now I'm sitting with my baby on the waiting area, I was breastfeeding her and a male staff member comes up to me and covers me!!!!! With a hospital gown and tells me "here you can use this" wtf is wrong with this place I have the right to breastfeed my baby wherever I'm at, I wasn't exposing myself, I wasn't showing anything, nothing. I had a appointment for over three weeks and the last day they inform me that my authorization hasn't gone through yet. I talk to my insurance company and it was authorized a week before appointment. They are full of it. Also they schedule me back in the afternoon. When I requested a copy of the MRI they inform me there is a limit on how many CDs they can burn. This site is ran horriable. Sat there for 21/2 hrs. The girl was new and she had people coming in and she tried to help everybody and people setting is going up the desk and see what's going on. Somebody upstairs called out so they had to check in downstairs and it was terrible. No help. Nothing was the worst place I have ever seen so I sat there for 2 1/2 hours and they told me that I had to be pre-medicated because it wasn't in my chart. if they did it correctly, I came in at 8:15. I would would've been done when they've seen that. I didn't wasn't premedicate I could've left, but they were so messed up. I felt sorry for that little girl at the front. They need to be a little more professional. I would think they had no supervisor there or anything so I will never make an appointment at this place again read more

I've been to this Aklumin a few times before and I would have rated it three stars at best. The woman at the front counter is not the friendliest person, and I watched her with other patients and. noticed that she doesn't even make eye contact as she speaks to them. She speaks down to them, to be honest. But this time, it was different. The woman at the counter was the same, but even she wasn't bad enough to bring down this evaluation. The reason this review is so good is because of two other employees; Fabio and Gerson. I came to Akumin for an MRI of my knees, because as you get older you find that you need more MRIs and X-Rays and Ultrasounds and don't even get me started on the prostate exams. Spoiler alert for anyone under the age of 60, be prepared. Anyway, I came in for my MRIs and I sat in the waiting room and they have two televisions on and both are playing cooking shows. They were actually entertaining to watch, so that wasn't a bad thing, even though I prefer to read in a waiting room (because I'm over 60 and my generation likes to read). I was sitting waiting my turn when Fabio came and called me into the back. What made this such an unusual experience was that Fabio came out with the biggest smile I had seen all day. Like my being there and allowing him to bring me back was the best thing that would happen to him that day. He brought me back and introduced me to Gerson, the technician (or other technician because I believe Fabio is also a technician) and they began to get me ready for the procedure. I was having MRIs of both knees due to arthritis, which I also have in my spine which makes lying down difficult. They solved that by bringing a wedge and a pillow and propping me up so that I was comfortable. They also gave me a blanket because they keep that machine so cold you could make ice. MRIs are not the most fun, and I had to have two of them (one for each knee), but these two made it an absolute pleasure. They were kind, considerate, highly professional and extremely friendly. This was the first time at any Akumin that I actually felt like the person treating me cared about me. These two should teach all of the other employees at Akumin how to treat a patient. They got it right! And because of them, and only because of them, I am giving this review 5 stars. And if Gerson and Fabio read this, thank you. You turned what is often a frightening experience into a fairly pleasant afternoon. read more

Nice clean waiting room with good lighting. Polite front desk. After jumping through all the 'hoop' weeks prior to may appointment and entertaining triplicate phone calls and txts prior to appointment, I arrive 30 prior(10:45a) to my appointment of 11:15a. Just through a hoop or two with front desk kind help. However, whom ever was the responsible Akumin provider did not call me at 11:45a. Was told 'they are cleaning up the room.' Front desk did then asked you here for MRI. I said no I am here for CT Scan. I advise front desk at 12:15p I am leaving and finding another provider. What is troubling most providers, if not all, caution patients for fees for no show or failure to cancel in 24 or 48 hours prior to appointment. Well it's time providers pay fees to patients for not keeping timely for their appointments with no acceptable cause. This failure might be to chronic common provider practice of over booking or just plain not caring about patient's time. In any event I advise Akumin that I will be finding an other Radiology provider. Thank heaven Akumin is not the only Radiologist in town. read more

The worst experience someone could ever have. I had an Ultrasound and a CT scan with contrast of the abdominal area scheduled. I had been told to fast and not have anything but water after midnight the night before. Immediately after I checked in I was given 2 jugs of barium to drink because I didn't know if I was allergic to iodine. Soon thereafter, the tech came out and asked me if I was allergic to the contrast and I replied that I had never had an exam with contrast in the past therefore I did not know. I did mention I had experienced several allergic reactions in the past and just wasn't sure. A few minutes later I was told that they wouldn't be able to do the CT Scan because the script asked for Contrast and they needed a new script and approval for a Scan without the contrast. I asked why they made me drink all that Barium then and no one seemed to give me an answer. I had to track down my Doctor on his cel phone while he was in the OR in order to have him give the staff a verbal that it was "OK" to do the CT scan without the contrast. At that point I had about 30 more minutes left to the 2 hour wait required after drinking the Barium to do the Ct scan, so they sent me upstairs to get my Ultrasound. As I'm laying on the table ready to get the ultrasound, the Tech asked me If I had anything to eat since midnight. I said, "I fasted and have not eaten or drank anything but the Barium they gave me downstairs". She raised her hands to her head and said, "Oh no, we can't do the ultrasound now". "The Barium will affect the ultrasound". So here I am, having to reschedule my ultrasound 4 days out now in order to have the Barium flush and leave my system. Incompetence to the Max. I spoke to Nina the Manager and she said she would talk to her staff but I honestly highly doubt much change can happen until their staff is fully trained. I work in the medical field myself and what I experienced is Totally InExcusable! read more

I wish I could leave a zero star. I had a CT scan scheduled yesterday for 4 pm. I got there at 3:53 pm. I was told to sign in and wait. The person who told me to sign in eventually left and another person sat at the front desk. When I noticed I wasn't being called, I went to the desk and asked if they needed my ID and insurance card. This was about 4:10 pm. She said she did not realize someone had signed in. Mind you, I was the only one sitting in the waiting area by then. After filling out the forms she came back and said the tech said she cannot take me because she turned off the machine. I said what do you mean? Is the machine broken? She said no. I was the last patient and I was not there at 4 so she turned off the machine. I asked to speak to a manager. I was told there was no manager on site. I left without having my CT chest done. I left work early to make my appointment and because the tech felt like I wasn't there on time she refused to do my CT scan. This place is a joke. They have no respect for your time. I am not sure why when the lady saw me sitting there she didn't check the sign in sheet or even ask if I was being seen. She just sat at the desk in her phone. They just want to come to work and sit down, do nothing and let time pass then they go home. read more

Initially, my husband was sent to Akumin on Federal Hwy. in Ft.Lauderdale to get a CT scan done on his back. A day later, after he turned the CD into his Dr.'s office they found out that an MRI was done instead of a CT scan! SO, then he was sent to Akumin at Sunrise Lakes to get another scan done. That location is a 30 minute drive from our house. After getting the scan done they told him that he would have to come back the next day to pick up the CD!!!!!!! The following day he called the phone number for that location to make sure the CD was ready to be picked up. When you call the office number you are sent to a central call center or another location!!!!! NO ONE PICKS UP A PHONE IN THAT OFFICE!!!!! He finally spoke to some who said he had to dial EXT 53215 and ask for Nikesha. A message was left for her and of course she didn't return the call. Neither my husband or I would ever go to AKUMIN for any kind of medical scan!!!!!! read more
