Disturbing and Unsafe MRI Experience
I recently had an MRI at Akumin and it was a shaking and distressing experience. I was warned that the machine would be loud, but what I actually experienced was far beyond extremely loud--it was overwhelming and frightening.
The "headphones" provided were of very poor quality, doing nothing to block the noise. Any music played was distorted, unclear, and impossible to understand. Instead of helping, it added to the discomfort.
I am 65 years old, and I left the session feeling very shaken and nervous. I couldn't help but think about patients older than me--this level of noise and stress could easily trigger a serious health issue such as a heart attack.
When I asked the MRI assistant what age limit they have for patients, I was told they perform MRIs on people up to 100 years old. Frankly, with the current setup, I find this potentially dangerous.
I shared my concerns with their new manager, but I strongly believe Akumin needs to address the safety and comfort of their MRI process--better noise isolation, quality headphones, and genuine care for patient well-being should be a priority. read more
