I made an appointment and I they were 2 hours behind not the hour that they stayed when I got there. No 2 hours . They also didn't know how to process the insurance claim I had to call my insurance company and they will dispute the way they submitted the claim for me as soon as it is processed. They are not friendly and you can tell why they are behind schedule the least amount they can do they are doing it walking slowly siting at their computers on the phones and playing around. The bathrooms are dirty and so is the center. now I know why they have the ac on 45 degrees they are trying to kill the germs that they don't want to clean. Horrible conditions smh never in my life have I seem a medical place so dirty Go to a completely different imaging center there are others that when you make an appointment don't make you wait one hour and have more structure and courtesy of people's time. The room was soo dirty the equipment was old. Everything looked like it needs to be replaced. I can't believe they are allowed to operate like that. read more

I took a sedative according to my doctors order one hour prior to my test. I arrived 15 minutes early to fill out paper work. My test was scheduled for 5pm and I arrived at 4:45pm. Once checked in I waited 35mins and had to ask how much longer the wait would be. The person behind the counter was very short and said she didn't know what was going on and she could do anything and was sorry for the way. She then took my name and rushed to the back to see if she could find out how much longer. At this point it's 5:45 PM and then Sedative I took for the test is wearing. I asked for a refund because it was clear that they were disorganized and not in a clear position to give patient care at all. This place is close. Do not waste your precious medical insurance dollars and out-of-pocket co-pays at this place. read more

For a early Sunday morning everyone is bright and alert as a Monday morning. A pleasant experience taking mom. Very professional. Need a sweater, chilly in the waiting area read more

This is the second time I made an appointment with them and was told upon arrival it was the wrong date and time. Once before it was made at the wrong location. The receptionist told me "this happens all the time!" My questions are, why is this acceptable and why, as a patient am I inconvenienced and have to come back again. Maybe if they squeezed me in, the techs would get angry enough to complain to management and they could hire people who can book appointments properly. read more

I would rate this place is zero! The place is disgustingly dirty! Poor management - never informed of deductible even though I spoke to representative numerous times prior to the appointment. The Manager was very rude and very poorly groomed. Her uniform and hair were sloppy and messy. I walked out without having the procedure done and informed them that I will not return due to poor cleanliness of facility. I will be filing a complaint with the health department, due to the fact that this facility is a potential health hazard. Would not recommend this place not even to a dogs! Totally disgusting!!!!! read more

I came here for a CT Scan and chest x-ray. I had no issues with their scheduling and so far (hopefully) no issues with their billing department. They are staff was very polite and friendly and efficient. They were able to move me from scan to scan pretty quickly. My only complaint is that it does smell really weird in the whole place. From the waiting area to the bathroom to their scanning areas, there is a very odd odor like the building is very old and musty or it smells like pee unfortunately. read more

Took friend here for MRI. It actually took over an hour and a half from the time the appointment was scheduled to the time they took the person in the room. Completely unacceptable with all of the different options we have in the Fort Lauderdale area. Due to this major annoyance I originally left just one star. Problem is that if even one person moves in their MRI that had an appointment before us then they have to do it all over which causes unending delays with their MRI machine. This ended up being the case. I have edited this review from previously due to that information. Bumped it up to 4 stars just because of the people that work there. They really ought to put a sign in the waiting room explaining that and certainly saying that upon calling for an appointment because I see too many people complain about the same thing on Yelp... Rightfully so. Moving forward I actually ended up going back to this place for an x-ray. I waited about half an hour to get the actual X-ray and then it only took them about 20 minutes to give me the CD to carry on to my doctor. Fair enough. The check-in people were pleasant when I call to make the appointment they were thorough and pleasant, too. The technician was pleasant and the check out people where I picked up the CD were nice as well. The building itself is pretty old and the equipment also looked old. Not my first choice but the centralized location made it to convenience so I gave it another shot. The machines were dirty and covered in dust which definitely stood out to me. But I can't complain about the people. And it serves the purpose and got the job done conveniently. read more

Only come here if u have hours to waste. Over 1 hour wait for a 2 minute chest X-ray. Front desk would benefit greatly from some Customer Service training. This was by far the worse imaging facility I've ever been to in 5 states for the past 60 years. read more

I would highly recommend Akumin in sunrise for breast mammogram and biopsy. I went to akumin for the first time for my mamo, I changed insurance and they were on my plan. I was called in for further tests because calculations were found. I had to get a sonogram and then a biopsy. I was so nervous about the biopsy, I was shaking from nerves. Dr Ballard was understanding and kind, while he was working on me his two assistances Jamie and Janine were amazing, One was assisting the Dr. and one held my hand and talked to me throughout the whole procedure. I was so impressed with my experience that I want to share it with anyone who needs to get a biopsy. I feel blessed to have such a great experience with this frightening test. read more

Wish I could give this place zero stars. They made a mistake in my appointment and I had to come back the following day. They still is a question about their mistake and I have asked them numerous times to call my doctor for the correct answer. The staff is rude and try to justify their ineptitude. This is ridiculous, don't spend you money here there are numerous imaging facilities in south Florida. read more

I have used this facility for my last two MRI's. The front desk people are so not welcoming. Before you can ask what to do, they coldly direct you to a computer sign in. The technicians doing the procedure are nice when you are called. But, I was given a CD of my two procedures and when I got to my doctor appointment, the CD was blank. I called Akumin 3 times in a week requesting a CD as per their phone system. I didn't receive a call back. I went to the facility, signed in and was told it would take 10-15 minutes to do- have a seat. After I got my CD I asked the girl at the desk what the purpose was of phoning in. She shrugged her shoulders. read more

The staff were all incredibly helpful and polite. I needed a same day scan for an emergency and they were able to fit me in

I had an appointment for a mammogram at 3:30pm was called at 6:15 . Horrible not organized at all. My Dr recommended me to go to Pink Imaging next time I will. The service at Akumin needs a lot of improvement. Specially with the scheduling, you cannot give an appointment for 3:30 and have a patient waiting til 6:15. read more

Not sure if they have a scheduling problem, a management problem, or both. Consistently an hour behind and they ask you to get there 15 minutes in advance which results in over an hour wait. Used to be quick when it was Signet. Also, not sure where those pictures are from but this place could use a facelift. read more

I dfelt a Brest lump back in December 2022, I immediately made an appointment and when I got there I was told the paperwork was not in order. I booked another appointment and got what they needed showed up and was told they were something else. So I scheduled AGAIN, got there and was told another item was missing. Now we are at the end of march 2023. I called the night before to make sure that everything was in order, I was told it was. Got to Akumin at 3;30 for a 4:00 pm appointment and was told they did not have a referral with the doctors electronic signature. After two hours on a Friday and a holiday weekend they finally got it together. Then the MRI TECHNICIAN CAME and he was nasty as hell. Yelled at me 4 times and threatened to kick me out because I was scared of the IV for a contrast MRI. He walked out on me 3 times in the middle of trying to put the IV IN MY ARM BECAUSE I WAS BREATHING HEAVY read more

Got to my appointment early, as they requested, and I wasn't seen for another hour after my appointment time. I was given forms to fill out, which I did, when I got to the second person in the check in process, she said I was missing one. She gave it to me to fill out. I did so. Then she wanted me to sign a paper stating that I understood their privacy and confidentiality procedures and that I received a copy. I never received anything, so I refused to sign it. She then gets up to get one for me. Once she is done checking me in, I was told to sit back down and I would be called. Time ticked by. I finally was called back with another patient, only to be sat in another room to wait some more. While waiting in the second room, a tech came and said that I needed to fill out the form that I had just filled out before with the check-in person. I told her to get it from her. She asks if I could just fill it out again, no was my answer. She was just too lazy to walk back up front to get it. She did so and the paper was right at check-in. I requested a cover up to change into during my mammogram and they said they had run out of clean ones already. REALLY? Once breathing through the initial process, everything went well. They offered me an upgrade to a 3D mammogram for an additional charge of $50. I did the upgrade since I never did have a 3D imaging before. They said I didn't have to pay now, they will see if my insurance will cover it first, if not, then they would bill me for it. That was the best part of my mammogram and bone density tests that day. Overall the personnel are very cordial, but the system there is in need of tweaking. Gave it 3 stars for the two techs that did my actual tests, but the facility is run like a 2 star establishment. read more

Akumin - Waiting room in Plantation - Diagnostic Imaging Near Me - Plantation, Florida

The absolute worse place in the world to go. 17 people in waiting room, one person at desk checking in. 2 women just hanging out behind check in area. Employees talk to each other while checking in people. Appointment time 5:20.was told to be here 15 minutes early. No where near getting checked in. 45 minutes still waiting. Horrible "HealthCare" facility. Last time they will get my co-pay and insurance payment. read more

Such a peculiar location with odd procedures on how to handle the flow of patients. Not only is the place dirty with small ants all over the floor side tables chairs but the front desk staff are extremely rude. I don't understand how this seems to be a chief complaint amongst customers where they then take the time to address those concerns but management apparently refuses to address it. I went for a breast ultrasound waited 30 minutes in the waiting room to then be put in another room to wait another 30 minutes till I finally was seen. I had to get up 3 times to a staff member shouting my name to collect information than sat me down then called me again twice to discuss and collect paperwork. What an ineffective disastrous process in dealing with patients with medical issues. Horrible. read more

I cannot believe this place, Had an appointment for a pet scan needed to do a special diet for the procedure. After waiting 30 minutes we were told the machine was not working!!! Really? Another patient had been waiting since 8:30 have they have no idea what it is like to come for a procedure then have to reschedule. This is not the first time they do it all the time be it an xray machine, mammograms or the pet scan. Very frustrating. I will be looking for another facility that can do pet scans.. Don't even want to give them a one star read more

I just had a very bad experience here. The ladies out front were very nice BUT the lady that called me back was rude and refused to do the test because my blood pressure was too high. First of all, the place is nasty. Some offices are like a sauna and others are so cold that they had the door propped open to outside (back in the CT scan room). All office chairs were old and worn down to the white. So I get called back to the CT room and again, I walked a long way, (I was way at the other end of the waiting room) and she puts the blood pressure cuff on my arm and begins to take my blood pressure. All the while rolling back and forth making copies of some ones ct of the brain scan. So my blood pressure is beeping that its' done and she is making her copies. Rolls over and tells me she has to do it again. Does it within a minute of the last one; she says it's high again. And this is one of those $49.95 blood pressure things you can buy at walgreens....not medical grade in any way, shape or form. My arm was also BELOW my heart which is the incorrect position to take blood pressure at. She then says about not doing the test and I said "oh it will come down just let me sit with my feet on the floor and take a few deep breaths." She looked at me like I insulted her and rudely said "I've been doing this a long time that won't happen". Ah yes it will I thought but didn't say because I know this body of mine for a long time. She just didn't want to do the test. She was busy making copies and maybe she was behind. Then she said that she was there on Sundays and I said I can't come in on Sundays. She flipped the paper in her hand and said "follow me". She was like upset. So she sent me to a very nice lady that helped me reschedule and gave me the copayment back. But I will NOT go back and my doctor is going to hear about this. Oh and this woman who has been doing this for such a long time asked me if I could drive if I was medicated when I take the test the next time...I'm like no. I just said a prayer for her. She was way off. And very rude. read more

I give the Akumen in Plantation at7301 NW 4th Street a 1 star for their parking. The worst place to go for medical tests. The staff is ruder than rude and they don't know what they are doing. My husband and I had an appointment there today. We noticed when they confirmed there was a different address so we called and spoke to a real human who confirmed our appointment at the 4th Street location. When we arrived 2 of the nastiest ladies that should be cleaning bed pans instead of handling customers let us know that they did'nt care. Said we needed to go to the other location. We will never again use Akumin. There are so many imaging places like Baptist and Cleveland Clinic. As for the Akumen company, it would probably be best if you paid and hired better staff. Called to make an appointment for a chest CT scan to be done ASAP. All personal and insurance info was taken over the phone . I didn't need an authorization for the test as I had an insurance generated reference number . So, I was given the appointment for the same day as everything was cleared and ready to go. I showed up and was told that they couldn't do the test bc they needed to call the insurance to make sure they get paid!!! I had the reference number given to me by the insurance that it didn't need pre-authorization!! What other version of yes do they need from the insurance!!? Told them I'd pay out of pocket and forget the insurance and they wouldn't let me!!! Some BS story about once my insurance is in the system I have to use the insurance !!! WTF! I spent 30 minutes on the phone and was given the appointment . Why give me an appointment if you knew this was going to be an issue? Makes no sense. In my 22 years as health care provider, I thought I've seen it all. Apparently not! Anyway, do yourself a favor and get your test done elsewhere . read more

I've gone to this location a few times for various images. Every single time I have to wait for hours. I have been a patient at the Plantation office 8300 West Sunrise Blvd since 2001. Last year I went for a routine mammogram, when I went to my PCP office was advise I need to have a breast ultrasound, I was given a script, called the scheduling department, was given an appointment on December11th 2021, I went to my appointment and was told by the receptionist I need to have a diagnostic mammogram done also. That appointment was cancelled, I went to my PCP and inform them I was told I need a script for DX mammogram, I called again and reschedule for 01/17/2022, two days before I was call by the office and was told the machine was broken and they have to cancel, I was reschedule for 2/19/22, the day before i was called and was told the machine is broken again and appointment cancelled, this looks so fishy its unbelievable. read more

As a health care provider myself, I feel compelled to express the deep disappointment in this facility. Arrived 15 minutes early to complete paperwork. Waited in a packed waiting room during Covid epidemic for more than an hour, then was herded back by an extremely rude and unpleasant young woman to another crowded waiting room. At least everyone is 6 feet apart but, come on!!! This should not be happening for scheduled elective imaging studies. Would never go back to this facility. Poor planning and very poor treatment of and communication with patients. Would suggest hiring ancillary staff in mammography with some degree of respect, thoughtfulness, caring and just a little common courtesy. Look your patients in the eye at lest! This is a stressful exam for someone with a strong family history of breast cancer and, in this already stressful time, a little caring would go a long way. The practice of overcrowding waiting areas and doing very little cleaning is most unacceptable. read more

I went to the Ft Lauderdale office to get an ultrasound for my 12 year old. I was told I was able to get results at an office closer to my house, which was Plantation, on sunrise Blvd. Tanya J and Judy were absolutely amazing. There were some problems getting the disc but they treated me like their sister. They did everything in their power, and then some, to get me the results. They completely understood my fear waiting for these results and made me remain positive. I have no idea why this place isn't 5 star if everyone is like Tanya J and Judy. 10/6/2018 My first experience in this facility was poor. I arrived 15 minutes before my scheduled procedure as I was instructed to do. I filled out my paperwork and was ready before my scheduled echocardiogram and ultrasound. I waited 30 minutes beyond my scheduled time in a waiting room that was ancient. It was dirty, had virtually no magazines and a TV that had connection issues. Actually the whole facility reminded me of an old run down antiquated place. Then I am called back to the exam room by the tech who never introduced herself by name or explained the procedure to me. She was rude and cold. I am a Radiology tech myself and know that her level of professionalism was severely lacking. She then proceeded to bark orders as to how she wanted me to position myself. Overall it was the worst medical experience I have encountered. I will not return there. read more

Waited an hour for them to tell me they can't do the work. They are the ones that made the appointment. Lost a whole day. Bad service.

Disgusting! Zero stars! This place is dirty, smelled horrible and was packed beyond capacity in the front waiting room. I work close by so the ONLY reason I made an appt for my first mammogram was the location. I arrived to my appt five minutes early and even after seeing the filth I decided to stay , signed in and stood and waited.... after about 45 minutes I was called back with 12 other women to another back waiting room only to then wait two hours without being seen. Then I got to witness two nurses or lab techs argue for 10 minutes about taking people out of order.., name calling and all until a third person told them to stop. At that point I walked out. Terrible place. I have good insurance and was able to visit a wonderful imagining center afterwards. I feel bad for the other people that still stayed there waiting and being treated like nobody cared about them. I wish I had read all of the BAD reviews before setting the appt. Lesson learned and I caution anyone planning to go here ... DONT! read more

No stars. Horrible. Had CT 7 days ago. Still no report. "Technical problem" getting images to radiologist for reading (I only found this out because I called to find out why my physician hasn't received the report - which shouldn't take more than 3 days). I have gone to this place for about 5 or 6 years for my annual mammogram. It has a new name, Akumin, but everything else seems to be about the same. Plenty of parking, easy to get an appointment, (this time I requested an appointment online, and they called me back the next day to schedule an appointment.) The staff is very friendly and they seem knowledgeable. The only difference I noticed on my recent visit is that it took quite a bit longer in the waiting room where you go after they call your name to come back. (I actually ran into a friend there that had a 9:00 appointment for a follow-up sonogram, and she was still waiting when I went for my screening at 10:40.) My appointment was at 10:00, and I was finished by 11:15. I will continue to use this facility because it's close to my home in Plantation, the staff is friendly and they seem to do thorough screenings. Another plus is that they offer late night appointments. read more
