It is, in fact, a synthetic opioid that was easily available online for many years. I tried to stop on my own 4 times, and the side effects were so horrible, I went right back to it. The brief detox was unpleasant, but I left the hospital shaky and still with awful side effects. Thank god, I found Norton online right away, and, when I called, they were friendly, courteous, and I didn't feel judged, as I had when I talked to several expensive, inaccessible psychiatrists listed as Suboxone prescribers. Norton made an appointment for me the day after I called and I left the office with a script for a drug that has helped me stay off opioids for 10 years. I've weaned off the suboxone, and now take a very low dose. I hope to stop entirely eventually, BUT, should I need it forever, no problem. I have a normal life. I'm incredibly grateful to Dr. Akhter, the founder, and all of the other doctors and staff who have helped me be a non-addict. Not one has even come close to reaching Wendy's level of professionalism, knowledge, compassion or level of care. She is truly the only one who has given 100 percent of herself to do absolutely everything in her power to help me. Her knowledge is unlike anything I have seen. We touch on so many various topics and she is knowledgeable in all areas. Sometimes I call to request emergency appointments and she will literally take me the same day. Not only that but she has spent additional time with me various time because she truly cares and wants to see me and assist me with making true and lasting changes in my life. This is the most unprofessional group of poorly educated people that have converged at one place. I am using the word educated loosely. The crisis workers will not call you back and if you call at night you are waking them up. They mostly tell you to call back in the morning. I called over four times for the same employee in one day with no call back. Each time they assured me she was working remotely and she was going to call me. This never happened. I have called in crisis and requested an evaluation. They say someone will call you back to make the appointment but this never happens. This is a place waiting for a disaster to take place. At some point they will ignore someone in crisis who suicides. It is just a matter of time with this type of staff and no accountability. They have no social workers on site. A Zoom doctor, nurses and peer specialists. The requirement for peer specialist is being mentally ill yourself. No one there has a therapeutic degree of any kind. Remember, CCBC holds titles but not any type of formal education or licensure. Beware!

I originally went to see Marisa for extreme anxiety and ongoing sleep issues, after trying what felt like every modality out there: somatic exercises, journaling, therapy, BIT, meditation, breath-work...you name it. While many of those helped in their own ways, nothing truly moved the needle for me the way hypnoacupuncture with Marisa has. From my very first session, there was an obvious shift. Even the people around me noticed. After that first session, the tension in my shoulders decreased, and the only way I can describe it is that everything (physically & mentally) felt like it had been taken down a notch. Since working with her, my sleep has completely transformed. I went from having an extremely hard time falling asleep and waking up almost every hour, to now pretty much sleeping through the night.
