Finding good decent tasty sushi in this area is difficult, if not near impossible so having a real sushi bar in a real Japanese restaurant is a breath of fresh air. I've been here several times and everything I've ever ordered has been freshly made with fresh ingredients, and served with a smile. On this latest visit, I was here with a friend for lunch. We arrived soon after opening and since we had our choice of tables, of course we chose to sit where we could watch the rushing river go by as we ate. We both ordered the Shrimp & Veggie Tempura. My friend also ordered a side of steamed rice and I had hot tea. The tempura was perfectly deep-fried and the dipping sauce was very tasty. Our server kept watch over us without being overbearing, filling our water glasses and taking our used plates away quickly. The day we were here, the weather was in the middle of giving us an atmospheric river, which means it was pouring rain as we arrived. The restaurant overlooks the Silver Creek and on this day, it was crazy high and rushing like it was late for its own lunch or something. Just mediocre. Not top tier but not fishy smelling either. The Tuna was dry on the edges as if cut the previous day. However the eel was amazing. Menu was well priced. Service was slow. Felt as if we were a bother even being the only customers. Beautiful view of the creek below. They do offer outdoor creekside seating. Maybe we were having an off day, Maybe they were. I was excited to try this sushi restaurant after reading the positive reviews. That was not the case today. Right off the bat, the server was very rude. I asked if I could sit outdoors and she asked me, "do you want to sit out in the hot sun then go ahead"! I opted to sit indoors near the fan as there's no A/C. The restaurant wasn't very busy as it was early evening. I ordered the cucumber salad which clearly had very wilted cucumbers and didn't taste fresh. When I mentioned this to the server, she argued that there was nothing wrong with it. I asked her to take it anyways as I wasn't going to eat it. The two hand rolls (one California and one Scallop) I ordered were very strange to me. Had huge chunk of romaine and tiny slivers of protein. They weren't overly great tasting but not horrible. The salmon sushimi was delicious though. Good sized chunks, buttery and tasty. At no time did the server ask me how my meal was though. I had to flag her down and she was super rude. She asked me "what do you need" in not a very nice tone. I felt like I was intruding on her time and she had better things to do. I finally just asked for my bill. She brought it and hurriedly informed me she took fifty percent off the cucumber salad I had sent back. I didn't even get a chance to protest as she took off in a different direction. Let's be clear the only reason I gave them the two stars is for the salmon sushimi. On that alone I would rate it at least four stars despite the steep price. Yes, their prices are a bit steep but I don't mind paying a bit more for quality as well as great service. It's the service here that really, really soured me on my overall experience! I will not be returning and absolutely do not recommend this restaurant. Not often I leave a place with such an "icky" feeling. So rude!!! read more

Trust me, the view is worth the extra effort. Offering an impressive selection of dishes, the restaurant serves everything from sushi to ramen and yakitori. I was pleased with my selection of the White Dragon Roll and miso soup. The roll consists of shrimp tempura, cucumber, and avocado, topped with albacore and a special sauce. The dish has an interesting mouthfeel due to the combination of hot and cold ingredients. Tender and delicious, I highly recommend giving the White Dragon a try. The waitstaff at Akatsuki Sushi Bar were top-notch, offering excellent suggestions and great service throughout the meal. Im really disappointed and dissatisfied by the service. The server was just staring at me waiting for me to sign the receipt and then I thought oh wait - I have cash in my wallet for the tip! So I took out my cash and gave her the money - she then proceeded to put the money in the tip jar (to which I had missed) and then again told me to sign the receipt. As I said "oh I know, just give me a second please as I put my wallet back in my purse" she then rolled her eyes. It's sad that this person clearly doesn't lead with kindness. read more

Not a good impression for our first visit. Our group consisted of my wife, myself and 2 of our grandsons We ordered our meals with some sushi rolls and nigiri... we received our order except the sushi which came out after we finished our yakisoba and yaki-udon and we were all fairly full... asked them to take the sushi back and to scratch the items off our ticket which they did. Was told they had 1 or two large groups they were serving as well as a large number of takeouts delaying the sushi chefs. Seems to me they could have told us when we were ordering and could have set our expectations or modified what we ordered. Or on second thought, they could have come by explaining the issue while we were eating. the restaurant is very nicely decorated and laid out. Gave this little spot a try for our family dinner since it had good reviews. After waiting for 15 minutes I decided to leave. We watch the waitresses walked right by us taking care of other customers. I thought maybe they are busy, but when I noticed new customers came in within a minute the waitress was already taking their orders. They took 3 different customers order. I waited to see if maybe now they would take our order, but that was not the case. Waitress placed the order at the bar and continued cleaning.
