They have a parking lot separate from Wal-Mart which is a plus considering how hectic the parking lot of Wal-Mart is throughout the day. I came in and was warmly greeted by a few employees behind the counter. I explained to them that I had a gift card to redeem for a massage. I was able to save $60.00 for a one-hour massage using the gift card. What an awesome deal in return for being a new dental client. The gift card of course doesn't include gratuity. The masseuse did a great job relieving the knots in my neck, shoulders, and lower back so I gave a $12.00 tip which is 20% of the $59.99 bill. They offered me a monthly membership at $69.99 per month, but in all honesty, this is one of those things to treat yourself once in a while while keeping an eye on your budget. For anyone interested, their massage deals go from $59.99 1-hour, $89.99 1 1/2-hours, and $119.99 2-hours for new clients. Types of massages include Trigger Point Therapy (massage that relieves tight areas within muscle tissue that causes chronic pain in other areas of the body), Swedish Massage (the best for relaxation and improving circulation in the body), Deep Tissue (releases muscle tension and provides deep pain relief from chronic overuse related to physical work), Sports Massage (improves flexibility and endurance, reduces recovery time after a workout at the gym, and is a necessity for anyone on a training regimen), and Cranial Sacral Therapy (my choice for relieving muscle tension, back and neck pain, and effective in alleviating headaches). I first contacted Affordable Massage Therapy (Tammy) on December 11 and over the next several weeks had multiple appointments scheduled, confirmed, and then canceled by her. Appointments were changed, rescheduled, or canceled at short notice due to scheduling mistakes, family emergencies, and illness. At one point, she stated she deletes all text messages, which made it difficult to keep any continuity in scheduling. In total, my appointment was canceled three separate times by the provider, including once just hours before a scheduled session. During this process, her rates also increased significantly compared to when I originally booked. After the last cancellation, I looked more closely at her reviews and noticed a consistent pattern in the one-star google reviews describing the same issues -- frequent cancellations and lack of reliability. While she does have positive reviews, it seems those experiences depend heavily on actually being able to keep an appointment. If reliability and respect for your time are important to you, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. For what it's worth, when my appointment was canceled yet again, I was able to book last-minute with Chris at Root Massage, who provided the best massage I've had in Anchorage. But If you work in an industry that provides relief to people, it might be worth it to invest in some scheduling tools because you will have clients continuing to live in pain when you can't live up to your business responsibilities.
