Delicious food, great atmosphere and service, one of the best meals we had this week in Barcelona.

We got off to a bit of a rough start. I'll acknowledge it…read morewas the Sunday before Three Kings and an hour below closing, but still a service level below minimum expectations. I'd say conservatively that they were out of half of what we ordered. And what they did have seemed to require trips back to the kitchen to find out exactly what the dish was and if they had it. I settled on a vegan tamale and stir fried veggies with noodles and my vegan son went with veggie fried rice (without egg) - traditional Asian-Peruvian dishes. With no one else in the restaurant, the food took about 20 minutes. (We'd asked for appetizers, but they were out of everything). The coffee my wife ordered when we sat down simply didn't come and we just let it go.... So, the food... The vegan fried rice - Peruvian corn, green onion and rice, topped with plantain chips. Sal said it was great - 4 out of 5 Vegan stir fried veggies with noodles - Peruvian corn, green onion, a little broccoli and topped with a couple of fried plantain chips. Taste - 4 out of 5 on taste (I enjoyed the hint of spice), but I'm leaning more toward 3 as I would've appreciated more veggies (though the overall portion size was good) The vegan tamale was the best. Again 4 of 5 in flavor. A hint of spice (better with the rocoto) and substantial portion size. Filled with thinly sliced carrot and zucchini and topped with red onion (salsa de cebolla). Overall this place is getting a 4 out of generosity. Food quality makes it, but the other gaps leave me wondering. My brother in law who lives here really recommended it (and he's Peruvian), so in taking that into consideration. I'd recommend giving these guys a chance and doing so away from a holiday!

The minty hand muddled lemonade was delicious and refreshing after a day in the Barcelona heat. The Las Sorrentinas salad was delicious and big enough to share. For entrees, we decided to get both the chicken and meat lasagna and share. Both were amazing, couldn't pick a favorite of the two. Our server was genuinely appreciative of our business and attentive but not annoyingly so. You could tell the food was all made fresh in house with care. I would highly recommend this place and will go again when in Barcelona for sure!

We had heard good things about this place and after reading their menu with fresh pasta, we all wanted to give it a try. The restaurant is very classy with nice lighting, decor, and a cozy feel. I took the waiter's recommendation and got the egg dough sorrentinas with the green pesto sauce. Two of my friends ordered his other recommendation, which was the malfiditas pasta. The dish I got was good, but I kind of wished I had got something else because the egg dough is mostly a meat center, and I didn't get as much of the caramelized onion or mushroom flavor. The ravioli also seemed as though they had cooked it, placed it in the dish, and left it for a few minutes, because the pasta had started to get gooey on top. I did enjoy the pesto sauce. Overall, I really liked this restaurant and I would love to return sometime when I'm back in Barcelona. I think I would rather go for the fresh pastas next time and of course check out some of their other sauces!!

I was visiting Barcelona for the weekend and is a good Peruvian. I decided to stop by and try this…read moreplace since Gaston Acurio is one of my favorite chefs! I was able to get a reservation online, which was very helpful so we didn't have to wait when we got there. The place is nice and has a lot of seating. There are multiple proving decorations based on the coast area, which makes it feel like a restaurant in Lima. We ordered the ceviche, causa acevichada, lomo saltado, ají de gallina, and cau cau de mariscos (our waiter told us the cau cau would be picante de mariscos, which wasn't true so that was a bit disappointing). The ceviche was incredible! Very fresh and true to the original limeña recipe. The causa acevichada is what took the crown!!! The causa was the most delicious one I've ever had, and the acevichado sauce was just like back in Lima. The cau cau was okay, nothing out of this world. The ají wasn't great, which was unfortunate as I have tried ají de gallina at other Acurio restaurants and they were so much better. The lomo saltado was spectacular. The sauce was perfect and the meat was cooked just as it should be. The potatoes were outstanding! I also got a chilcano de maracuyá which was very good. Overall, I'd definitely recommend coming here when in Barcelona. Please do try the causa acevichada and lomo saltado - you will not be disappointed!

We were craving some good Peruvian so we opted for this tiradito, ceviche, causa, and arroz con pato and it was worth it. As an aperitivo, they brought out crunchy corn (choclo) and a pretty spicy salsa (that we ended up asking for more of). All of the sauces that came with the food... we could have bathed in them. We chose to try the ceviche combinado (seasonal fish, fried fish, choclo, sweet potato, and yellow chili leche de tigre. Our tiradito was a ponzu rocoto with red tuna, herring eggs, avocado, smoked mayo, and ponzu. Causa is a peruvian specialty, with layers of mashed potato with either chicken or fish (we got it with tuna)- the causa de tartaré de atún was a red tuna with a garlic sauce. The cocktails (including pisco sours) were great too! Honestly I would have had multiple meals here if I didn't have FOMO about being in Spain and not eating Spanish food. The service was so accommodating. Our server made great recommendations for our food choices, and was happy to move us to a bigger table as more friends joined. They brought out the cake with a birthday candle in it, and it was delightful. A thousand times YES to recommending this, even if you're hesitating about eating something other than Spanish cuisine while visiting. One of the best meals of our trip.

We have…read moredined in many top-notch Japanese restaurants and were excited for the "Nikkei" fusion concept. But in the end we were very disappointed. After the meal we read that the restaurant changed concept from Peruvian Japanese (with nigiri and many hot dishes) to Mediterranean Japanese (mostly cold seafood dishes) a couple years ago. If you are expecting the dishes from their menu a couple years ago, none of them are there now. Of the 20 course menu, we only liked 5 (in blue check marks on the menu); the rest were bad because: 1 the way the food was prepared overpowered the flavor of the ingredient (example: scallop in wasabi-equivalent sauce that totally masked the delicate flavor for fresh scallop), or 2 ingredients that didn't taste good together (tuna belly with jamon lard??), or 3 the dish was creative but simply didn't taste good (roast tomato on charcoaled leaves). Also, for a 120 euro tasting menu, there was basically no premium ingredient except for one or two dishes. We were given the option to add premium dishes (lobster, king crab, wagyu) for another ~60 euro PER DISH, which is ridiculously expensive. We saw that some of the earlier menus posted had the premium ingredients included in the tasting menu, but that's also no longer the case. Service was very attentive and good, but other than that and the five dishes we liked, everything else was really really bad to be honest.
