She automatically assumed I was asking about HMOs and then said people are required to sign up for their VIP membership of $1800 annually!!! I had to follow up with asking if they take PPOs since she only felt it was necessary to state they don't take HMOs. She replied they accepted PPOs but didn't explain if they were in or out of network, and repeated they needed to pay for the required $1800 membership no matter what. I happen to be an isurance agent who sells Medicare plans and have never, in my entire career, have heard of a doctor having a membership requirement. This seems to be her way of weeding out people on lower, fixed incomes. Especially, since she was so quick to make it a point that they don't take HMOs instead of answering my simple question asking what Medicare plans they did accept. This is doesn't seem right at all. There are soooo many phenomenal doctors out there that don't require any membership to see them. If this membership doesn't come with house calls from the doctor and zero wait time at the offices, I cannot see why anyone would pay that to see her. If you don't believe any of what I've written, call and ask what Medicare plans they accept yourself and see what they respond.

In some cases this is great if you're sick, but can adversely affect the current appointments for that day For me, it's more important to find a doctor who will prescribe needed orders and medications than wait times.
