Wow , Wow , Wow!! My husband had octopus on some salad, just for starters. In this photo is the Flap steak with mashed potatoes it was the best flank steak I remember as a young child. The best part was the atmosphere very nice view of the lake. Enjoyed this restaurant the first night of our stay in Ajijiic. Best steak house and seafood in the Malcon.

The food here was spectacular. I had been in Mexico for two weeks already and was craving some wider options than the norm and this place definitely didn't disappoint. All the dishes were amazing and the service was phenomenal.

This venue offers a wide variety of food, all of which, we've enjoyed. They're busy but service is speedy. The menu says this is a filet for "2" people - it's true! The 2 of us will be eating the leftovers for 2 days!

Located just a stone's throw from the lake, my partner, his family, our friends and I can see why this establishment is consistently a top rated restaurant in Ajijic. Upon entering yesterday for dinner, Tango Ajijic itself is very warm with beautiful paintings on the wall, thatched roof and fans. A pretty extensive menu featuring just about anything you could imagine in both English and Spanish. This restaurant employs a small army of wait staff and unfortunately didn't get the name of our server. Complimentary warm rolls started the meal with various condiments such as butter and chimichurri sauce. For appetizers, we started out with various empanadas. For entrees, several salads were ordered, 14 oz Skirt Steak (Arrachera) with pasta, Grilled Provolone Cheese, and Chicken with Alfredo. The salads were excellent, huge portions and would make a great main course for vegetarians. If you've ever had Arrachera (skirt steak), one knows it's supposed to be cooked quickly over high heat, to seal in the flavor and melt the considerable amount of fat. My Arrachera was near that quantity but slightly salty. Good food selection prepared to perfection. A pleasant ambiance and good prices which we can recommend.

This place was recommended by the owner of the AirBNB where I was staying as well as by one of the shopkeepers that I had visited, so I stopped in for lunch. The service was great, super fast and friendly, but the food was just so-so. I really wanted to like the place, and the ambience is amazing, but I was really underwhelmed by the food. Maybe if I went for dinner instead of lunch it would be different.

Great food, excellent service. Definitely need to try the octopus Al ajillo and tuna sashimi totally my favorite.

Octopi with portobello mushrooms was salty and the bread was stale. The octopus was a bit chewy. sweet wine was good. Staff were great.

IF YOU NEED ASSISTANCE OF A PSYCHIATRIC SERVICE DOG DO NOT COME HERE!!! OWNER WILL DISCRIMINATE. tried to have dinner here and I brought my psychiatric service dog with me. They asked me if I had documents and I showed them the letter by my doctor as well as other certified documents and still, the owner said he wasn't going to allow my dog, which by the way, is only 8lbs and came in a leash and vest. I have gone to WAY better restaurants and never had an issue. I felt discriminated due to my condition. read more

Wow, where do I start! We started with dry martinis which were perfect, full to the top, a true meniscus. We ordered the spinach cakes appetizer (I can't remember what they were called on the menu) and they served us 4 HUGE ones, probably made with just spinach, egg and parm cheese. They were so delicious, but make sure not to fill up. The steak for 2 (don't remember the actual name, I blame the martinis) came and was enough for 4 people. It was cooked PERFECTLY, seared on the outside and rare on the side, just the way we ordered it. The service was impeccable with VERY attentive and friendly wait staff that made us feel like we were the only ones in the restaurant although the place was full. Beautiful venue, great food, great service. This is my new favorite steakhouse. read more

We went here for my daughter's birthday. I was very impressed with the quality of the steaks. My husband ordered the 35 ounce ribeye and it was perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked and so tender. We ended up with so much food leftover that we used it for tacos the next day. Love this place! read more

My wife and I decided to go during the week to save the weight. Turned out to be a good idea as we walked right in. I had easy breaded tenderloin. It was awesome they made a special brown gravy for me so that I could combine it with mashed potatoes and have a country fried steak. We've been to Tango six times. The first few were good, but they must've had turnover in the kitchen because the last three times the food was terrible. The spinach salad was wilted, the beet salad used to have lots of big pieces of beets but now has only a sprinkling of shredded beets, the stuffed portobello was flavorless, etc. It's a shame because they used to be very good. There are better options in town. read more

The steak was good but do not get the spinach salad with goat cheese for your side. They don't wash their spinach, you will get a crunchy surprise...lots of sand!. The waitress tried to convince me that it's the seasoning that crunches like grains of sand...wow. Don't get the baked potato either...they tasted like they were at least a day old...you know dry and hard, like it's been in the fridge for a while. Very disappointed for our choices of sides but more so for the waitress service we received. ("Chloe" or "Chlod" I think her name was). read more

Don't know why I don't eat here more. Pros: food is always great. Busy attentive waiters are everywhere replacing bread baskets and refilling my drink before I even ask. Dropped your fork? BOOM someone there handing you a new fork. Yes, I said free drink refills. You hear that Adalitas??? Cons: they don't deliver. So I have to pause whatever tv show I'm watching, get off the couch, put pants on, find car keys, and then actually drive there... read more

The food and drink here are really good! I'm vegan, so I skipped the bread appetizer, and ordered the penne primavera without butter and fries. It was delicious! For the meat-eaters, the steaks were not cooked enough, but they took them back without a problem. I'd definitely recommend having a reservation if possible! Luckily, we came on a Monday and they were able to seat our party of 7 no problem. This place is awesome! read more

Somehow even though it was nearly 91 (33) degrees outside it was cool and comfortable inside. It's open to the outside so somehow the ceiling fans work like air conditioning. I ordered the Fettuccine Carbonara, it was delicious and the serving was considerably more than I could eat. The service was impeccable and the food came quickly and piping hot. The bread comes with butter, olive oil and the best salsa I've ever had. They should bottle and sell it in stores. I'm going back for steak tomorrow night. As good as it gets. read more

Bummer that it's closed on Tuesdays. Had a fair spinach empanada, but I'm spoiled by two competing Argentine markets by where I live with terrific empanadas. Overpriced, and the service was a bit below average for this area. There is no shortage of competition in this town. I wish them luck. The chimichurri dipping sauce was below average as well. read more

As a vegetarian the choices are limited but excellent!. The portobello mushroom starter is a meal in itself. The vegetable carpacciio is to die for. If you are doing a plant based diet it is a must visit when in Ajijic. read more

I'm always surprised that folks think this is the best steak restaurant in Ajijic. It isn't! If you like chain steakhouses in the US, then you would like Tango....because that's what it is. If you want great steak, there are several other restaurants in the area that are truly great. Tango is good for the senior lunch special, when it is very crowded, but the price is right. The service is typically good and the steaks are usually good, but not great. If this is what you are looking for, then Tango is your place....otherwise there are better places. read more

We went there on Monday and that's the right time to avoid long wait, like 1 hour on Sunday night. We had asparagus with prosciutto, which was perfectly cooked beautiful green asparagus. I had beef shish kebab, and I should have ordered medium rare, because medium was a bit well cooked to my taste. Our server spoke perfect English and he was helpful. I highly recommend this restaurant when you want some Westernized food. read more

We were recently in Ajijic for a week and the food, service and price warranted that we actually returned for a second visit before we left. They had a nice merlot from Chile called Gato Negro and it ran just slightly over $10.00 per bottle, so we had two. The second one we couldn't finish so they put the cork back in and we took it to the hotel to finish later. The first night we were there the waitress name was Gina and she spoke fluent English and the service was great! The stake I choose was called vacio and it was awesome. Very generous cut. Be sure to also try the hearts of palm salad. Our total bill for two ran about $55.00 US and would have easily ran over $100.00 in the US. Tango is deceiving from the street and looks small but it opens into a large dining area. Plenty of wait staff who are very attentive. Tango is located on Colon street which is just a few short blocks from the plaza and malecon. Buen provecho! read more

One of our favorite places to go. The yummy rolls and tasty sauces that come with it are plentiful And promptly presented upon arrival. We feel very comfortable here and as a result go often. I especially enjoy the affordable lunch menu at 60 pesos. Clean bathrooms and friendly service and good food make it a safe choice. read more

Pizza in Mexico, really? Well believe it or not the very best pizza I ever ate was in central Mexico! Pizza is for the rich here, you will NEVER see a average family eating at any Italian restaurant simply because of prices. My last trip to Jalisco, Mexico was last summer and we stayed for 36 days, time of my life and have more stories from those 36 days than most people have for 5 years! Made some lifelong friends in Mexico and miss them terribly, will be going back sometime early next year if work allows a week or so away? The owner of Ajijic Tango is super entertaining and truly a great guy, he makes the experience a classic. The food is how you say in Spanish "Caseras deliciosas especialidades italianas" homemade Italian delicious specialties that make food in the U.S. taste like garbage! There are no such thing as preservatives in Central Mexico, you cant even buy Doritos at Walmart in this area, and yes there is a Walmart close by all of a sudden, very few locals seem to go there btw. To be honest even the Chinese food in this area makes anything you order in the U.S. taste terrible, I think the reason why is every ingredient is fresh from the market daily, they use natural from start to finish and each dish is made with love, sort of like you get in Sicily but in my opinion even better because the variety is MUCH greater. This area is not cheap, when you think of Mexico that is way off the beaten path you think of cheap, hell no a pizza here costs more than I pay for one in Miami, they average $28 per pie, depends on toppings and which restaurant, the best seem to be more off the beaten path. What was so cool was, after ordering a pizza pie with everything on it, the owner crossed the street to a open air market and bought the ingredients as we waited, never saw anything like that in my life and wow, was it ever worth the extra wait. That's why I love this part of Mexico and plan on buying a 2nd home here someday to use as a rental and then retire here, friendly people. almost zero crime and stunning scenery of Lake Chapala. People who don't travel and live in major cities like NY, Boston, Philly think they know what great food is, reality is they have not a clue if they don't experience other cultures. read more

After being in Chapala for one week, there isn't a lot to so except go exploring. We ventured on down to Ajijic which is where most of the foreigners like to hang out. Thats when we came across this restaurant the appears to be very popular! I ordered the canelloni that included spinach and ricotta cheese. My wife ordered the watercress salad which was much lighter than my meal. Even though this place is the place for steaks in the area, my lasagna was quite delicious. My wife gave-in after the salad and ordered chocolate cake for desert. Our Server was bery good with English and she was very helpful with the menu options. We went there on a Saturday and the place was quite crowded, but needless to say we were seated in less than ten minutes! It was good stuff! read more
