Andrew is an outstanding tutor and mentor. With his guidance and coaching, my daughter was able to achieve a 90 point jump in her SAT Math score and 10 point jump in SAT English. (Note: we had Andrew tutor SAT Math only). More importantly, she gained the confidence that she lacked in overcoming a challenge that seemed insurmountable. The most unique thing about my daughter's experience with Andrew is that he really tutors to the individual needs. At the introduction meeting, he asked questions to understand what my daughter wanted to achieve and gave us a general idea of how many tutoring lessons she may possibly need. My daughter took the SAT on her own in the first two attempts but was not able to reach the score that she hoped to get. We approached Andrew a month before the exam date, and we were nervous whether it was at all possible to reach her goal. Andrew was upfront and honest in telling us that it gets harder and harder to improve as you are further up the ladder, which is my daughter's situation. As such, he did not give us any assurance or prediction one way or another, but let us make the decision whether to engage with AJ or not. My daughter ended up attending a few weekly tutoring sessions with Andrew on SAT Math and took a few practice exams in between. Andrew was quick to identify that my daughter was pretty sufficient in terms of her content, but needed someone to guide her as to how to approach and prepare for the actual exam. The most important thing during the tutoring process was that my daughter gained the confidence that she lacked through Andrew's careful guidance. One thing worth mentioning is the way Andrew interacted with my daughter. He was funny and approachable. He was also very responsive to both me and my daughter and he really cared about how my daughter was doing throughout the tutoring process. He actually called us a few days before the actual exam and gave us some prep talk about how we can help Sophie to better prepare for the actual exam day (e.g. getting good sleep and good nutrition, not going crazy on practice full exam, etc). And the night before the results came out, Andrew also reached out and asked that we share the results with him as he really wanted to know how she did. Andrew also shared with us his observation of my daughter and his analysis of what kind of learner she was, and what he thought she did during the tutoring that led to her achieving the score she wanted. Disappointing in terms of HSPT exam prep--waste of money (and they have exhorbitant rates). Get an online review book and be disciplined. They don't teach a whole lot in terms of test strategy. They offer proctored exams --which would be helpful if the proctors timed the exams correctly! In general, quality of math tutors is hit or miss, some are very good, others not so much. Do appreciate some will come to the house--for an extra fee. read more

Brandon Schultz could not have been more helpful in my daughter's ACT preparation. In short, my daughter started meeting with Brandon once a week in September and continued for 8-9 weeks. Each week, she would meet with Brandon and he would go thru test content, testing tips, reminders, etc. and give some homework exercises or practice sessions. In December, she took her first test and got the score she was hoping for. Before my daughter started meeting with Brandon, she took a few practice ACTs and struggled with the English section on each-- not only was it the section she scored lowest on, but it just didn't come naturally to her-- after meeting with Brandon, she scored a perfect 36 on the English section on her first try. We could not be more happy with the results. My daughter worked hard-- she paid attention to the lessons, did all the homework & exercises, etc.-- but she would not have gotten the result she wanted without Brandon's help. read more

We highly recommend AJs for help and in the area of Calculus and Statistics - Andrew is the best He met regularly with 2 of my high schoolers -who have very different learning styles -and they both succeeded in their regular and advanced math and statistics courses and earned top scores on AP exams. As I student, I can wholeheartedly advocate that AJ Tutoring is one of the best educational institutions I've ever experienced. I went their for SAT tutoring and my tutor was Andrew Wu. Up until this point, I was really struggling to get the score I wanted because of poor time management, generally unpolished skills, and a troubled mindset. Furthermore, I had tried multiple SAT classes up until this point including the Jay Koo Academy summer program and Khan Academy, and even after months of tutoring I saw little to no progress and I began to stress at the idea that maybe my desired score isn't feasible for me. However, from my first class with Andrew at AJ, my self-confidence was almost completely restored, since with just one class before my first SAT attempt, he was able to almost completely address my time management issue. On the SAT date, I was able to score a 1450. Although this wasn't quite at my desired score range yet, I was extremely happy that I was finally seeing progress. Before this point, my highest Practice SAT score was 1330, and didn't seem to get better at all despite all my efforts. With just ONE CLASS, Andrew helped my raise my score 120 points which was amazing to me. With my confidence restored, I continued to work with him for the next couple months and took two more attempts. I remember on my last class before my third attempt, I felt self-doubt and uneasiness that I might mess up on test day. However, Andrew calmed my down and elicited a mindset shift in me. He explained to me that I am perfectly capable of getting my desired score, and that my focus should be on giving my best effort in the present rather than calculating potential score losses on my doubtful answers. On test day even, I felt extremely uneasy about my reading section performance, but then I remembered the mindset instilled in me, and calmed down. After that, I was able to do extremely well on the next two sections and I ended up scoring a 1520 on the test. Although my reading section score by itself wasn't very good, the mindset shift helped me do almost perfect in the writing and math sections, which brought my grade up. Not only did Andrew help me polish my skills, but also exposed me to a growth and effort mindset rather than a worry one. By the end I was extremely relieved and grateful that I finally got a score I was happy with despite my initial worries. Lastly, I was applying to a summer program which required a recommendation. Although I finished all the application elements on the first week it opened, I couldn't get a recommendation from any of the teachers I emailed because of spring break which overlapped majority of the application period. By the due date, I was extremely worried since I thought I'd run out of options and I wouldn't be able to submit my application due to factors out of my control. Finally, I contacted Andrew merely 2 days prior, and he responded swiftly, getting me a recommendation a day before it was due. Not only did he help me with my SAT, but he also helped me finish my application when I was in a tight corner. I know this is an extremely long review but all in all, I am EXTREMELY grateful that I worked with AJ tutoring, all their tutors including Shea Dennis (who I worked with for APUSH tutoring for the AP Exam) helped patiently guide me when I was struggling and worked to help me when I felt stressed. Their passion for teaching is clearly demonstrated and their service is the highest quality I've ever experienced in an educational institution. My AP Physics 1 exam was coming up in the spring, and as I had never taken an AP test before, I decided to use a little extra help in preparing for it. Dipti was a wonderful tutor.
