Our experience at this "Tuxedo Junction" wasn't what we expected at all...as a matter of fact...far from it. First, the sole person in the business didn't seem to think our presence was very important as this individual came out from the back to visit with apparent friends (maybe family?) whilst we were waiting for apparel to be tried on. When this happened, it sent a "red flag" up that our business was not at all important to this individual. Second, the "inventory" was not there. The entire suit brought out to be tried on did not fit at all! What? A "Tuxedo JUNCTION" that does not have the correct sizes in their inventory to properly fit a customer? Never heard of that - ever. So, most sadly, we left without being able to rent a suit - let alone a TUXEDO - at AJ's Tuxedo JUNCTION! Wow. Dang it! read more

Awesome and fast service! This company has been around for years and is reliable! We drive over an hour just to rent our teenagers tuxes for prom every year. Very fast paced though. This guy knows how to do his job, so trust the process. You might feel a little rush because us parents want to enjoy the experience. That's the only con I could give. He's very blunt. He knew exactly what we needed even though we had no clue as this was our first tux rental. He got my sons size spot on! Incredible detail and quality pieces, my son looked stunning!! I've never seen him look so sharp! The shirt, vest, all pieces were perfectly pressed and clean as if they were new. Maybe they were, hard to tell. This place is one of those old time Bakersfield institutions. It's been a long time since I've had the need, but this has always been my go to for tuxedos. Took my son in to get a tux for his first Winter Formal and had a horrible experience from start to finish. My son comes out if the dressing room and he's wearing pleated pants that fit like they were from the MC Hammer collection, super baggy in the thigh and leg and a jacket that turned out to be two sizes too big. The whole time the guy is saying, "Looks great, right?". I said, "No, this is really bad. A tux is supposed to have a tailored, fitted look and no one is wearing pleated pants to the formal". Back and forth we go, the guy being passive aggressive the whole time about the changes I'm requesting, like I'm somehow putting him out by trying to get a tux that fits and looks like it's from the modern era. This guy would have let him walk out as-is to save himself the (re)work required to make it right. To top it all off, when we go to drop the tux back off my son comes out of the store shaking his head and tells me that the guy was talking poorly to my son about my wife and I. Apparently, the quote was, "Man, your parents are something else.". So unprofessional that even my son was annoyed by this guy trying to get him to sympathize with him. And, we aren't the only unhappy customers. While my wife was there the day of the Formal for the second fitting a customer comes in unhappy with the tux provided for his son and asks for refund. Words are exchanged in front of all the other customers in the room. So, obviously, we won't be going back here. There are other options in town, that I hear are a little more pricey, but with better options and good customer service. I'll pay extra for that to avoid a similar experience and the time we had to waste the day before and the day of the event to get it right for what is a special occasion for these kids. This was a perfect example of what I try to teach my kids... One of the best measures of success is not that you don't make any mistakes, it's how you handle issues when they do arise. If we would have been treated with respect, and felt like this guy cared about the end result, I wouldn't have felt the need to share this experience with others... read more

Love this place! Dax was super helpful and made a what could have been stressful time very easy. My husband and I decided last minute that we wanted a "Tombstone" type jacket for our wedding since we were going with a western theme. We went in on Sunday when our wedding was the following Saturday. They had exactly what we needed and Dax provided great customer service. If you want to be belittled and made to feel like an idiot for not knowing anything about tuxedos, this is the place to go. The owner will belittle you when you ask for suggestions. He'll get pissed when you ask him to hang your tux back on the hanger after trying it on, so that it's not wrinkled. He'll make sure he's playing on his cellphone instead of helping his client.. Sorry, but if we were professional tuxedo people, we wouldn't be coming in in the first place and we certainly wouldn't be consulting this f@t sl@b. We paid for a service and got a tux with stains and a bad attitude from the owner who was more preoccupied with his cellphone than helping his client. The manager to this store has horrible customer service. Never advised us the due date on returning the tux back, once returned 1 week and a half after the the event, he reached out calling us and saying "yo where's my tux at". Then followed up the next day texting us "I need my tux asap". We let him know we were returning it a day later. Once I arrived he proceeded to comment to me "I should give you a 5 star rating for returning it late and not changing any late fee". If only the manager would have given us a due date on the paper work it had attached when we picked up the tux. but there was NOTHING. so get it together, and have better customer service and communication with customers. read more

Literally messed up everything they possibly could. Not one suit was the right size, none of the bags had socks in them even though they were paid for, the shoes we picked out weren't the ones we got and they even sucked so bad they messed up the color scheme on one of the suits, the groom and one of the groomsman had the same color suit and everyone else had a different color, had I not caught it before we left the store we would have had a checkered wedding party, complete idiots. The only thing they did right was refund some of the money, but even after they messed up as much as they did, they didn't even give a full refund. Worst advise I've ever taken going to them. My son had a wedding with 5 groomsmen and not one of the tuxedos were right. My son which is a shirt size XL was given a 5X. I believe the tuxedos needed to be inspected before leaving the shop. The owner did refund a substantial amount and did apologize for the inconvenience. read more

We were told to come back Friday. We come back Friday pick up. My little brothers white shirt was 2 sizes too small. My dads jacket was literally falling off of him and he didn't have buttons on his jacket. My fiancés top button to his vest came off and his little square for the pocket was a little piece of frayed fabic. WOW!! Thank you thank you thank you for making my life easier. Needed emergency tux for my husband and son for a last minute event and didn't know what I was going to do. I really didn't want to go back to this business after the experience I had earlier this year, but I'm always willing to give people another chance! THANK GOD I DID because the new owner was literally an Angel compared to the devil I was dealing with before. They greeted me with a smile, (unlike last time), they got them measured within 15 minutes (unlike the 49 minutes last time), they were friendly and courteous (unlike the previous owner who snarled every time my husband asked him a question). I highly recommend that you come meet the new owner named Dax (sounds like Dox)!! If I could give a 6 star rating for best improved business I would. This was a horrible experience and I would never recommend this place to anyone. The lady that first helped my wife up was wonderful, then when I came in the Manager (JAZZ) helped me and she was completely rude and could care less if we did business there or not. At one point when i couldn't figure out a suit to fit my budget she told me "If you don't like what you see go somewhere else" I should have! All my groomsmen later complained of her saying she was unhelpful and mean to all of them as they came in to pick out there Tux's. After all was said and done and we paid over $900.00 to them My three sons tux's were all wrong. Wrong colored napkins, shirts way top big, one of the boys pants were the wrong type and didn't match any of the others. Ties wrong size, stained dirty shirts..Just a nasty mess! We tried to explain to the Manager today how screwed up our order was and she got up and walked away and went in the back room. My wife was actually standing in the showroom saying "umm..helloooo...im still here" she never came out so she left. Trust me guys don't do business here. Unless this Manager lady (JAZZ)is FIRED! For the owner: Do your business a favor and remove the cancer for your F street location. Its so sad that a women could care so less about great things like tux shopping for your own wedding. Bad customer service! I would not recommend this tux shop to any wedding party. Prom, formal, date night... Sure. Weddings? No. We ordered 12 tuxedos from this shop so you would think with such a large order, with each tux costing $185, they would treat us well at least. This was not the case. Ordering: This part was easy. The owner measured the guys very quickly. Probably about 10 minutes per guy. They each had to put $20 down and that's pretty cheap. The owner was also very gracious for last minute fittings from out of town people. This part was great. Getting the tuxedos: This was a nightmare. We were told the tuxedos would be ready for pickup the week of the wedding (Monday or Tuesday) so that if anyone needed alterations they could be done. We called on Tuesday and were told they were not there and would be ready the day before the wedding at 3:30pm, extremely stressful for a bride and groom! My dad and I arrived the day before the wedding at 3:30pm like they said and they were still not ready. The tux's were there in the shop, he just needed to put them together which takes about 5 minutes per tux. He tried to brush us off but I asked if he could just get my dad's tux ready, he did. It took persuading to do this. He changed the pickup time for the groomsmen 3 times and tried to have them pick the tux's up on the day of the wedding. I was not happy so he finally agreed on 5:30 but tried to change it again when the groom called. I told the owner they would be coming in the night before at 5:30 because that's what the groom told all the groomsmen, even the out of town people, and to please be ready. When the groomsmen arrived he proceeded to tell them, including the groom, "you guys really F'ed up my day." Really?! This should never be said to a customer even if he said he was just kidding. To top it off, the groom and one other groomsmen wanted their tux pants taken in a little.. The owner told them "no you don't need to do that, they look fine." The groom told him he really wanted it so he finally did. A customer should never have to convince an owner to do services that were paid for! The owner is lazy, period. Day of the wedding: On the day of the wedding my brother had the wrong color tuxedo when I specifically told the owner how many of each tuxedo we had, how many groomsmen there were, and how many others we had. He also wrote out cards before hand and had the name written on each with the correct tuxedo. Okay simple mistake, I didn't get too upset about that. My brother also didn't get buttons and cufflinks like we ordered and his pocket square was the wrong color. Sigh. I also found out that the owner overcharged my groomsmen by $20 on each tuxedo. That really pissed me off but we had one late tuxedo by 3 days and it's $20 per day so I forgave it if he forgave that cost. It was still really frustrating. You can get better service and prices elsewhere. Save yourself the trip and go to Friar tux like I wish I had done. I did not feel welcomed what so ever at this place. read more

Horrible service! I saw that they had got the tuxedos wrong two weeks before the wedding and I tried to talk to the salesmen (I think its the owner) and he spoke over me. Didn't let me finish my sentence. So the day morning before the wedding the groom and groomsmen went to pick up their tuxedos and they were all wrong! Wrong color wrong sizes. The same man told them to come later on and he would fix the issue. So they came later picked it up tried it on, wrong sizes again! Had to return them and finally got the right sizes. So night of the wedding two groomsmens shoes and my dads shoes fell apart. The owner gave the groomsmen 50 dollars back and told my dad there was nothing they could do about what happened to him. Great place! We gave our measurements from a MW store out of town as we live in the Bay area. Our son was going to his first formal and we picked up day of. The place was slammed but we managed to get out of there in under 30 min, with everything fitting (minor alteration with the pants). On top of that, we went to turn in and my teenage son forgot the shoes...so we drove all the way home with the shoes. Needless to say, embarrassed I had to call and ask them what they preferred; overnight or ground. He said, "No problem. Just ship them back to us". Totally could have gone a different way but didn't. I was married May 20, 2017. I loved all of my vendors...except AJ's Tuxedo. We went in and ordered the tuxes in February. Thank God the groomsmen went to pick them up early Wednesday before the wedding! The Best Man's vest was too small and AJ's only had open-backed vests remaining. I decided to make the groomsmen wear jackets with their vests. My groom's tux was also too big and AJ's didn't do anything to alter it. AJ's also made the groomsmen make several trips from Tehachapi, pulling them out of their jobs, to fix his mistakes, mistakes he kept making excuses for. The only thing I regret about my wedding is this vendor. I will never do business with them again. read more

My husband went in for a fitting and was told to come back a couple days before the event. When he went back, the pants were way too big and too short. The shirt was a 3x instead of an XL. The next pants fit in the waist, but were very short. The jacket was way too big. The next jacket was too tight. The vest was missing a button so they gave us a different vest. They finally got the jacket right and the shirt, but I asked if he'd steam it. He asked if it needed it. It was just out of the bag and full of creases! We tried another pair of pants...too short. Finally, they found a pair to fit him. When he got them home, they were less than crisp so he went to steam the pants and discovered a good part of the crotch was ripped, so he had to sew them!
