I've been going to AJ Physical Therapy since late August after having surgery on my hip. I've been pretty happy with my results, as has my surgeon. My surgeon even said at one point that we were 'ahead of the curve' recovery-wise, although he wasn't super happy that I was doing unsupported standing/weight-bearing on the operated side within the first few days after surgery (which he said was listed in the referral's recovery plan outline. I had my initial evaluation with Barak, who was very friendly and knowledgeable. After that first session, however, I was assigned to work with Mike. Mike is also very good at what he does, although I had one frustrating incident in which I was being asked to balance on my affected side which I was finding almost impossible as I had hurt my large toe on that foot (bruised the bone or hairline fracture that took a couple of months to recover), even though I had expressed this. After that session we worked on different exercises. The layout is essentially one big open room with some massage-esque tables in the back and all the equipment spread throughout the main room. Some of the equipment/gear is a little old, as an example the ankle-weights I work with frequently have velcro that seems to be hanging on by a thread, though the things have never fallen off of me. There are some offices in the back for other kinds of work (I've not been back there except for the restroom). The staff always greets me with a smile and within a minute of my walking in I'm offered a heating pad to warm up the affected area. They have music on the speakers that's usually pretty good (sometimes 'skips' despite not being a CD player) and a weekly poll on the white board that they invite clients to participate in ("hot cocoa or egg nog" as an example). I enjoy coming here for my workouts, although sometimes the therapists are balancing two people at a time so once they confirm you're doing the correct form, they can pop off to work with another person for a moment. I haven't felt neglected, tho, as the others who are working at the time check in on how I'm doing as I go. They also speak a couple of languages, too, which is great. I think Hebrew (?) and Spanish, but I'm not 100% sure on the latter. The atmosphere is nice, as well, and both staff and clients chat about whatever, generally. One thing I would improve is being more diligent about the 'no phone calls inside' policy, as a lot of the clientele skew older and they tend to chat loudly on their phones or put it onto speaker to hear it better (?). And on occasion just watching videos with the volume on, which can be distracting in the open-floor plan of the place. I will say, they can be heard from their office space which opens to the main floor, and I heard a woman (sally?) commenting the news with statements of how 'of course those people don't speak English' and 'all that misappropriated money Elon found' which worries me regarding media-literacy there, since I heard someone agree with that easily disproven statement (when looking up 'doge actual findings') but I acknowledge that that has nothing to do with physical therapy. I've had an excellent experience at AJ Physical Therapy. I came in after knee surgery feeling uncertain about my recovery, and the entire team made a huge difference from day one. They are incredibly knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely invested in your progress. My PT (Barak) created a thoughtful, personalized plan and consistently adjusted it based on how I was doing. I have also worked with Salley several times, and she is super knowledgeable and experienced. They know exactly when to push you and when to hold back, which gave me a lot of confidence throughout the process. The clinic is also very well equipped, which makes each session effective and efficient. Beyond that, everyone there is friendly, professional, and supportive--you really feel taken care of. I'm stronger, more mobile, and much more confident than I expected to be at this stage (on the path to going back to running and regular strength training). Great place for PT. Mike is my PT. I had a knee replacement 2 months ago. For me it has been a very painful recovery. Mike has spent a lot of time with me , getting my range of motion back and building back lost muscle. It's not easy but I'm getting significantly better and I give Mike all the credit. He spends a lot of time with all of his patients and is very compassionate. Everyone who works there is extremely nice and helpful. I was referred to AJ Physical Therapy because "they specialized in orthopedic physical therapy". After 3 previous rehabs over two years, (which helped me tremendously), I was finally diagnosed and was looking forward to getting specific help to finally heal my injury. I wish the therapist would have just told me they were unsure how to proceed with my treatment. Instead, they just started me on certain exercises. I was surprised when part of their patient agreement was that they charge an (opt in/out) $25 per visit, (in addition to co-pays and insurance payments), in case you needed supplies or accepted the ice/heat automatically offered upon arrival and at the end of each session. In my previous rehabs, any needed heat, ice, tens machine, pressure boots or any other possible rehab equipment/tool was part of rehab. I "opted out" of the additional $225 per month for ice and heat. Unfortunately, soon after "opting out", the personal attention disappeared and I re-injured myself during one of the exercises they had me doing. The most disappointing part in my opinion was that the therapists seemed unsure of themselves.... maybe even insecure. I had an injury that they were not sure how to handle and when I re-injured myself, my therapist suggested that perhaps I wasn't improving well enough. It was suggested that she print the exercises out and I should just do the exercises at home. (I never received the promised printouts) nor was there any follow up. I am now starting with another facility. Please do your research before you try this location. read more

I was referred to AJ Physical Therapy by my orthopedist after I had experienced a miserable four months with an injured knee. In hindsight , I was very lucky because, by chance , I was assigned Reese. I have quite a bit to to say about Reese. First of all, I was struck by his professionalism. He greeted me with such kindness. This whole experience has been very embarrassing. I know I'm not alone in feeling this way. Injuries are terrible and physical therapy is not always pleasant. Reese meets patients at their most vulnerable time, after surgeries or injuries. Throughout my treatment he treated me with the utmost respect, I have a feeling he picked up on my unease. It is for this reason that I am taking the time to write this review. I know there are many out there who feel the same and would benefit greatly in their recovery by having someone like Reese as their PT. Most physical therapists are skilled in their craft, but it is a very special individual who has mastered the interpersonal side. Reese is that person, he is just the right mix of professionalism skill and humor, yep he is funny too! For most, all of the above would be more than enough, but there is more. Reese is exceptionally dedicated. I notice a lot as I go through life, I pay attention. And what I noticed about Reese is that he doesn't just go through the motions. He really cares. I am admittedly ridiculously uncoordinated and therefore a bit of a challenge. Most physical therapists would be content to finish their part and then let the assistants conduct the exercise portion. Not Reese, often he would keep a close eye and he would stop his paperwork or whatever he was doing to make sure that I was doing the exercises properly. These days it is so difficult to find anyone in any capacity who goes above and beyond, but Reese is THAT guy. I really could go on and on, like his willingness to try to help me with a paperwork issue, or squeezing me in even though I wasn't on the schedule but by now I think it is clear that if by some misfortune you wind up finding the need to have physical therapy don't consider going anywhere else, and, by all means ask for Reese. I don't want to leave out the rest of the staff, because they are all great. In particular, Leah seems to handle everything with simple, quiet efficiency. I highly recommend AJ PT Solely based on my experience with Reese, he is the best! On the Covid front, I inquired and was told that all staff has been vaccinated. In addition, all equipment is wiped and sanitize after every patient. read more

My girlfriend was in a bad motorcycle accident and for over a year we wasted a lot of time and money seeking help from more than half a dozen different physical therapy clinics to no avail. They were all either incompetent to treat her trauma from leg/knee surgery, or did very basic therapy that did not help her progress. It was a massive opportunity cost and we regret not visiting AJ Physical Therapy sooner. My experience with the staff has been very professional and welcoming, but my main reason for writing this review is out of appreciation for Barak. He is the ONLY physical therapist who examined her x-rays, asked pertinent questions, and confidently performed actual physical therapy in addition to providing useful recommendations (stretches, devices, etc.) all without sugar-coating the time/work required for her to properly heal. For six months, I had persistent, debilitating back pain and back spasms that radiated from my mid back all the way to my abs. Everything hurt--picking up my daughter, getting down on one knee, sitting, standing, shifting, driving, walking...pretty much any word that ends with "ing." In order to fix it, I tried everything. I saw my internist twice. I got an MRI. Xrays. I was prescribed muscle relaxers and pain killers. No improvement. I did 4 months of physical therapy at a different place. No improvement. I saw two orthopedic surgeons. One gave me steroids. A little improvement. Finally, one sent me to Barak. Barak is a goddamn wizard, and I will tolerate no argument on this. I don't mean that as a metaphor. I truly believe he is a full-fledged, spell-casting wizard. In my initial appointment, he accurately determined the source of the pain when none of the other doctors or therapists could. In two weeks it was dramatically improved. In one month, I was pain free. The difference between a good PT and a bad one is months of pain and potentially hundreds of wasted dollars and pointless appointments. Don't risk it.
