Our time was only spent in the indoor soft play area, so if you're looking for a review of the lazer tag, bowling, or game arcade, you'll have to wait for some other Yelper to get to the Big Apple. In general, the play area was fun, for him, but there were a number of items that I found less than ideal. 1. Heat! It was so damned hot in the play area, we were all sweating. Now this was a party with 18 families, so it appeared it was nowhere near it's capacity, but still, everyone, without exception, complained about the lack of ventilation. 2. Disrepair. Mostly, things were in pretty good shape, but a number of things were kind of jerry-rigged with zip ties and duct tape. No single thing caused me great concern, but the sheer quantity of places where I saw these things made me wonder if a little more rigorous maintenance wasn't in order. I'm sure the wear and tear on such play things is massive, but for the amount they charge, I expected more quality to be honest. 3. Non-slidey slides. The biggest coolest-looking slide was, in fact, a dud! There's a slide that goes from the upper level of the play area down to the bottom where the parents were generally hanging out. This makes a total descent of some 4-5 meters. How cool is that??? Not much, it turns out. Kids were constantly having to scoot themselves down. One lucky parent was wearing the right fabric to make her slide down well, but everyone else was forced to self-propel. 4. I don't mark down for this, but the food served to the kiddies was the usual breaded-fried-potato-waste-on-a-stick. De regueur for such party places, they won no stars in our book because none of it met our child's dietary requirements (gluten-free). We never expect this, though, and always bring our own. My wife and I found ourselves the inevitable schadenfreude when we realized that our child's meal was way healthier than any of the other children! Looking at the heat, and the disrepair, I can't imagine a full-capacity weekend, where there are wall-to-wall kids.

Everything is downstairs, is lit solely by LED and smaller than your regular bowling alley (only 4 lanes too) also it doubles up as a restaurant/bar. The décor is pretty cool too - giant lava lamps around and bowling related stuff. Reservation is essential as it gets booked up very quickly ...only 4 lanes you'd expect it. There is waiter service to the lane so you get food/drinks brought to you rather than waiting at the bar - quick service too. There's always deals going on here too so check the website before going and you could possible save a few squids. The cuisine is a blend of Italian and Indian (apparently the chef is very good) and they have a happy hour; classic cocktails for £4. Definitely worth checking out. Good for a night out after work with a few friends.

Never very many staff about but you don't really need them you can control everything from the computerised board at your station. Ideal for kids of all ages they have rails for the lane that you can choose to have up for younger bowlers and they have a ramp thing to help the really young send the ball down. Amazing how good getting a strike feels even if playing against 8 year olds (especially as they usually win) its hard not to have fun. They have a bar and food probably best avoided. Clean and tidy it all works rather well. Always offers on so check their website. You will often find us here on teacher training days when the place is empty.

You can have alcoholic drinks at your lane, but all alcohol must be drunk by 11pm- they'll take your drink away otherwise, I learned the hard way! I hired the venue for a work event so we had sole use for the evening but on most nights it is open to the public (you will need to book ahead). The bowling lanes are great fun and the karaoke room is sound proof meaning that it does not disturb the live music in the main room. The karaoke system is also of a high quality and has the largest collection of songs I have ever seen! There is also a hot tub which seems like a bit of an unusual addition - I didn't try that one out! The bar staff are friendly and at around £3.50 for a glass of wine the prices are reasonable. The venue is actually very difficult to find however as is also located in the same building as the Bloomsbury Lanes so it can get quite confusing when trying to locate the place. Kelly dealt with my booking and was fantastic - she made the day run as smoothly as possible and everyone had a great time. This would make a great venue for a Christmas Party.

This centre used to host Laserquest too, but I dont know what is upstairs these days. It is very easy to get a lane here. There is often sunday and later night unlimted bowl session for the crazy who love to bowl. Although you may want to make sure there is not a party, league match of something higher priority then your fun already booked for this piece of American Pie in Sw20 before turning up and using its car park. All public transport is at least 5 minutes walk away.

Upon arrival we were greeted by the friendly staff and paid for our two game sessions, which come to £12.50 per person, pretty cheap for London standards. Unlike other bowling alleys we were offered the choice of using bowling shoes or we could use our normal shoes - we decided to stick with our current footwear. We were allocated our alley, however, we asked to be moved down to a quieter spot and the member of staff happily moved us over without any question. We were visiting the alley on a Sunday at 13:00 and there were already a few families bowling. It seemed to have picked up at around 15:00 with more people turning up to play, so it would be a good idea to try arrive earlier to avoid the rush. As far as London bowling alleys go Tenpin certainly has the space and number of lanes for all size groups, it has a fully licensed bar and a pretty standard fast food style menu with burgers, chips and nachos (be sure to order with cheese as this doesn't come as standard). Attached to the bowling alley is an arcade with all the usual games including; Time Crisis, Dance Dance Revolution, Air Hockey and my personal favourite PacMan Smash air hockey (see photo). The venue also has several pool tables and table tennis available. If the fried fast food menu doesn't tickle your fancy there are several restaurants in the local area including Nandos, Pizzahut or Burger King. All in all this is a fun day out with a fair amount of activities available at a decent price. We will no doubt be back next year to continue our bowling challenge come reunion.

The venue is cute and clean, and they were pretty good about making sure everyone adheres to the booking times. The hour we booked flew by - with six people on our team, we only managed to squeeze in one game. But that's a pro and a con: it's a busy venue, so we were always checking the clock to see how much time we had left. It was actually a bit of a killjoy. It's a nice experience, but I felt that everything -- including the food and the cocktails -- were overpriced. I know that's the trade-off you make for having a central location, but I would have preferred to have a more old-school bowling alley experience, even at the cost of having to travel farther out... you know, the kind where you goof around with a few close friends while putting away onion rings and beer into the wee hours of the night while "Roxanne" plays for the fifth time over the speakers.
