Oh, heavens! What a horrible experience! I booked international flights for two on Friday for $3,600+. I receive all of the confirmation emails that my payment is processing, yadda yadda. Everything seems like a go. No prob. Come Monday. I work all day (as many folks do) and come home to check my personal email. I find 13 emails (that looked super spammy btw) saying I need to verify my identity as the cardholder (ok, sure) and that I had until 5 p.m. to do so. 5 p.m.! They expected me, with no warning (and 3 days after I purchase tickets) to reply to them between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.? What? So, at 5, they emailed saying my flight was cancelled entirely. "Because your credit card was not verified within the 8 hour time limit, your reservation has been cancelled and a refund has been processed back to your account." Seriously? I did have multiple unknown calls (to their credit) but no voicemails, so how would I know it was them? (Also, I'm at work, ya know... working and busy.) So, I call customer support. After waiting for 10 min and getting cut off, I call again. Another 10 min later, they answer and tell me my flights are canceled, there's nothing I can do, and that my money will be refunded in up to 7 business days. Also, I would fire the people I spoke with if I managed them. But honestly, I feel bad for them because they work for such a shady company. Their lives must be miserable. So now, I'm less than a month out from an international flight. I won't have my $3,600+ in my bank account for up to 9 days (including the weekend), and the costs of flights are already skyrocketing. In summary, this experience was horrific. I'm frustrated that my purchase through Kayak.com didn't even (at least clearly) indicate that I would be going through this third party (airfare.com), and I'm obviously infuriated that they would cancel such a huge time-sensitive purchase on a work day during daytime hours. Annnd then give me such inappropriate sass when I tried to rebook. Wow. Save yourself. Don't use this company. read more

When i booked my ticket on kayak (the issued it with airfare) i never thought i would get such great customer service over the phone. I was super nervous of booking with airfare.com after reading a tons of negative reviews. But they offered some last minute tickets to Europe for $1400 (while they were over $3000 everywhere else) so I had to give it a shot. I also bought the insurance they offered, in case things go wrong. I got their email instantly with my booking number, then within an hour I got the ticket numbers as well. I logged in on the site of Lufthansa, and everything is there, everything is fine. This was a major life saver for me. If not for airfare.com, I would not have been able to afford this ticket. I booked a flight with airfare.com because I am moving to Beijing to live with my wife. A few weeks prior to my flight the Army told me they needed me to stay stateside a little longer and so I called to reschedule my flight. They told me to fill out their change request form online, which I did. Over the next week I called them three times to find out about the progress. They never once contacted me. On day seven I spent an hour on the phone with customer service only to find out they cannot change my flight, they didn't offer any other assistance, trying any other days or anything. If they had contacted me right off to let me know that my flight can't be rescheduled, that would have been okay so that I could book a new flight and just lose out on the money I paid for the original flight, now the prices of flights have increased because the day I need to fly out is getting closer, it really would have been nice if AirFare.com had contacted me instead of me having to call them multiple times only to finally find out they can't change my flight. I will never use AirFare.com again. As a caveat, I just got off the phone with the airline, Air Canada, and they were able to change my ticket no problem. So that makes me wonder how hard Airfare.com tried to help me. They didn't even tell me I should contact the airline directly, I figured I'd try it as a last ditch effort, and it worked. DO NOT USE THIS TRAVEL AGENT. We purchased 4 flights from the US to the UK in December 2019 (before COVID-19). After several months of the corona virus, the airline (Virgin Atlantic) cancelled the transatlantic flights, and when we asked airfare.com to help process a refund or change of flights, they demanded an additional $1700 in fees ($425.00 per person!) They refused to provide any help whatsoever unless we paid this amount. Virgin would not help either with the refund saying we had to go back through the agent. Unbelievably RUDE. I requested my Aeroflot booking number, which wasn't in the Airfare.com email. After repeatedly telling the customer service rep (CSR) that I don't have the proper info and email, he tells me that i'm just not looking hard enough. Ego aside, i looked at all emails, junk folder, word searched and confirmed the number is definitely not there. I assured him that the booking number was not in any of the emails and before being belittled any more, I mentioned that i'm just as smart as he is and wouldn't have missed this detail. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. I booked on kayak.com and received voice mail and email to confirm my identity. I've never booked on any website that requires such process so I called back the customer service. The agent is completely unprofessional:I literally could not understand any English the guy spoke. It's not because of accent. He asked me the confirmation number and then said blah blah blah(the part where I totally did not understand) and transferred my call to another person. I explained to him that my credit card is issued by an oversea bank. Without even letting me finished my sentence, he said"Call them". I explained it's outside the business hour now and I will call them later and he said"You have until Monday" and just hung up. At this point I already made up my mind to cancel the reservation because his rude attitude. I went on line and googled airfare.com reviews. Although it is statistically true that online voluntary reviews tend to be more negative in general, this site has a reputation that there is no positive review. After reading some of the reviews, I decided to cancel my reservation. I went on their out dated website to see if I can cancel the reservation without calling customer service. The answer is Yes, but you have to type in your credit card information once again. So I called them and it's the same experience again: A guy who spoke some English that seems no one understand(according to yelp review ) transferred my call to the second man. I said,"I want to cancel my reservation". The second man said,"So you can not confirm your identity". Me"No, I just don't want to book it on your website" Him"OK. In 2020 my family booked a flight to Athens for $4K+ that we received a voucher for from SkyBooker/Airfare Experts, the only stipulation being that we must use the ticket prior to December 31, 2020 (which was later extended to December 31, 2021). However, after contacting Airfare Experts twice to confirm there were no stipulations, I was unable to book a ticket without incurring heavy fare penalties due to "destination change" and "class change" (these reasons being inconsistent after each call). Airfare Experts claims that British Airways charges extra for the above reasons, but British Airways confirmed with me that no such charges exist on their end. Airfare Experts provided my family with a voucher with inconsistent requirements subject to heavy fare penalties when those requirements are not met. I tried working with the agency on 3 different flight plans to use the credit but every time there was some new reason why the credit could not be used or that the fares would cost double as listed on their website. I no longer wish in any capacity to book with Airfare Experts. I whole heartedly do not recommend this agency. read more

This is the worst experience I have EVER had with a business. EVER. They cancelled my flights. They didn't call or email, or anything to even notify me. I had to find out through kayak. Then they sent me this email saying that I missed some 7- day period and I needed to pay $350 to change my tickets. I didn't even know the flight had been cancelled in the first place; why should I have to pay for THEIR error? Called hotline. They hung up on me twice. Then left me on hold for almost an hour, and finally said "we will reply you." and their agents were rude and kept sighing at me like I was being annoying for needing customer service. It took two weeks to hear back, and my trip was DAYS away, so I had to book different tickets through a different provider. I had to go to the airline, my credit card company, and kayak to try and get the money situation dealt with (I wasn't going to pay extra for something they messed up on AND for this "rule" that wasn't listed in the terms & conditions I agreed to on kayak in the first place), and they finally emailed me, not to talk about the dispute, but to say they found a different flight (that would cost $330 more PLUS the $350 change fee). They didn't even care about me as a customer. Their agents were rude and unprofessional, they don't have some of their "rules" listed in their terms and conditions (be prepared for hidden fees!!!), and they appear have absolutely no regard for their customers from my situation. I had a very, VERY poor experience, and I would never recommend them to my friends or family! But, seeing that they have a one- star yelp review makes it kind of worth it, since they probably won't be able to stay in business much longer. read more

My experience with Airfare.com was also horrible. I was using KAYAK.COM to find airfares for my family to travel to a funeral and back on short notice. I found the fares and times that worked for us and then clicked through to "Airfare.com" to book the tickets: BIG MISTAKE!. I should have taken down the flights and times and then gone straight through to the airline website instead. Airfare.com agents would not introduce themselves, put me on hold without picking-up, could not get seat assignments, and could not authorize my payments, and would not offer supervisorial support when problems arose. The names of the agents I did get were clearly made-up: Fred, Jeff, Daniel, and Harry from guys who sounded for all the world like a completely different nationality. My wife's plans changed so we were either looking to change her itinerary or cancel her ticket. I first requested for a quote to cancel - the fee is an outrageous $550! Then I requested for a quote to change just the return flight (understanding that the cancellation fee is $350) - I never got a response. I repeatedly e-mailed them. It is now day 10 since my first quote to cancel. Yesterday I contacted them again to say that I just want to cancel the ticket. I am currently on the phone to confirm that the ticket is canceled and on hold. What irks me the most isn't the exorbitant cancellation fees (that's a close second), but their customer service (or lack thereof)! Particularly on the phone. The people you talk to sound annoyed that you are talking to them. They put you on hold for forever. And when they don't know what to do, they just keep directing you back to their website. I'm a reasonable person and understand that, hey, sometimes people are just having a bad day. But their bad customer service is consistently bad! I had an awful time dealing with airfare.com I booked an international trip through Kayak.com (first mistake). My friend and I had to change our final destination due to completely unexpected circumstances. We submitted a request to airfare.com (after calling them with small questions and receiving ONLY the response "You must fill out a request form") to see what the price of the destination change would be. We received an email with the quote ($2000 to change the destination) and denied the change because it was insanely expensive. Upon arriving at the airport in LAX, we checked in at the front desk. My friend was able to check in without an issue. The man at the desk told me that I had two tickets under my name to the same place on the same date. Of course I didn't book two tickets for myself. He made a phone call and discovered that upon requesting a quote for the change of destination, airfare.com had attempted to pull out the $2000 from my checking account and pay for the change request that I had explicitly NOT authorized. I never thought I'd write this sentence, but: Luckily, I didn't have $2000 in my checking account, so they were unable to pull the funds. But had the money been in my account, they would have robbed me of $2000 for an unauthorized change of ticket. They cancelled the booking without informing us and I found out about this when I called the airline after receiving a confirmation email with a confirmation number and a ticket number. I called the customer service number and was told there are no details to why they cancelled the ticket then was put through to the payments department who told me they could do nothing and I should just buy a new ticket. This company is a complete joke. These people are using an easy scam: they cancel your flight just after they book it for you, then they try to book a trip with the same destination and departure cities, but with totally different conditions: low cost airlines, stops and long connections whereas you booked a direct flight, etc. I checked with American Airlines who was supposed to operate a roundtrip NYC-Paris flight I booked using Airfare. I went to one of their centers in NYC to be sure. They showed me the voided flights, then they called Airfare.com on my behalf, and it's needless to say they don't have a proper customer service. Talking about their customer service, I received lots of emails from them. They were first threatening me of voiding my flights if I didn't confirm my identity (although I knew after with AA that my flights had already been cancelled) with a fraudulent method. I didn't check my identity with them but I guess they try to get your card information to steal you more money. Then they say they'll refund you after finally telling you they have voided your flights. Of course they won't refund you. The only thing you can do if you have already booked with them (sorry for you) is ask them to cancel your flight, and dispute the payment with your bank. If you're quick you can try to cancel the flights with the operating airline company, but it's a bit hopeless I think. If you just booked a flight with them, here are some of the emails you'll soon receive from them: "Due to security reasons, there is one more step required in completing your reservation. Airfare.com needs to verify the credit card. In doing so, there is a security step that you need to complete. Airfare.com has placed a temporary charge of under $5 on your credit card that will be refunded immediately. To verify your card, please call your bank to find that amount. You need to complete this process otherwise your booking will be cancelled." "Due to security reasons, a credit card verification was requested at the time of booking. Because your credit card was not verified within the 8 hour time limit, your reservation has been cancelled and a refunded has been processed. Although fares are not guaranteed, we can check if the fare and seats are still available and give you the option to rebook. I needed to change my itinerary because of a mishap in my family, and they were very unhelpful. Not only were they UNHELPFUL, they are a big time LIERS! They kept on telling me some nonsense stories that they are waiting for my ticket update from the airline etc. Finally I called the airline itself 2 days before my scheduled return date, and those people told me that Airfare.com never contacted them for my ticket change. 90 Yelp Reviews with a 1 star average - to my horror, I saw this AFTER my wife had already booked a trip on SCAMFARE.COM. through KAYAK. I have never seen a worst average Yelp review in 5 years of using Yelp. There is a good reason for this company's average rating here. We had a problem with our booking, and what has been said on here by Yelp users is true -- once you purchase YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE ANY SUPPORT FROM THIS COMPANY, the will deliberately avoid having to do anything more after they receive your money... there is no Customer Support. They will deny there is any problem, they will refuse to rectify any issue even if your airline is already saying go back to your agent, it is standard procedure for them to rectify the issue. Basically, if there is a problem/issue/concern with your booking, YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN. From my contact with them this does not appear to be an American Company, you are dealing with people who are very far away and the last thing they will want to do support your transaction - they are really quick to take your money though. I can't even begin to tell the story of how many wasted hours i've spent on the phone dealing with airfare.com and kayak They could turn any calm and rational person into a lunatic and did!!! I was threatened and lied to about the rules of the tix and the tix wasn't even processed til the day after and we never received an e-ticket or confirmation email the site wasn't cheaper after the debocle, that was evident too. We booked it and didn't think much about it at 2am on Monday night/tuesday am and tuesday afternoon, the computer still said processing It went through sometime that next afternoon but they considered the day before the beginning of the 24hours Still never sending the confirmation or e-ticket the next night we called and called, two of us from two locations about the same thing. They threatened to cancel the tix,they accused me of "causing problems" because i asked for the details of the tix to be emailed as proof and validation. They couldn't find the reservation Then they did and referred me to British Airways for more info It said i bought the tix on British Airways. British Airways also couldn't find the reservation Called back and they gave me another confirmation number The reservation was in the payors' name not the traveler. They then send an email that was not a tix and told me to call Iberia because it was not their flight I called them about purchasing a seat as the email from British promised i Could and they said i couldn't By the way they had given me a different confirmation number than the other airline 2 different confirmation number for the same trip!! Finally after yelling and crying and losing my mind, i went to bed at 3am having gotten no where. The next day i filed a complaint with the credit card company and filed a dispute and told them I cancelled this the night before Since then, they have contacted both the payer and the traveller urging us not to cancel and when they finally realized we did already, they told us to accept the cancellation penalty (WHAT IS THAT???? I will keep this short: STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE. Their business model is simple: prey on people's lack of fine print. Read here for the whole ordeal: I had booked a flight through Kayak which directed me here. First of all, the quoted prices on Kayak's page never follow through on AirFare. It is almost always several hundred dollars more. I still managed to find a reasonable fare and booked it. Next week I get an email from AMADEUS notifying that one of my connecting flights was changed. I called these people right away and told that I should contact the airline. I called the airlines who said that my agent had changed the booking, wtf. I called the AirFare again and after rotating through 2 absolutely incomprehensible agents (mind you im a non native english speaker so accent wasn't the issue here), I was able to yell my way through to a manager who fixed my ticket back. Fine print allows agents to change a flight without a voluntary action from the passenger. Busy flyers will simply miss their short emails and discover their shit practices once at the airport.
