Last spring, my partner suffered heart failure in a central American country whose hospitals lacked a heart surgeon capable of providing the endoscropic heart surgery he required. While the local hospital stabilized my partner's heartbeat and drained his lungs so that he was fit to be flown back to the USA, Rusty, at the office of Air Ambulance 1, helped me to organize to meet both the financial requirements and the logistical requirements for the flight (advance admission to the hospital in the USA providing the needed surgery) in order to book the flight. The day before the flight, one of Air Ambulance's flight medics flew to where we were, came to the hospital, obtained my partner's medical records and medications, and, the next morning, accompanied us from the hospital to the plane (a commercial flight). He sat with my partner in the comfortable first class seat/beds, remained calm and positive throughout the flight, monitored my partner's condition carefully, helped him any time he needed to stand up and walk, provided oxygen and medications as needed, and accompanied him/us via the ground translporation he had booked for us to the hospital where my partner received a successful endoscopic heart surgery. In all, it was a very positive experience for us, and we would highly recommend the services of Air Ambulance 1 to anyone. read more

We had to have my dad flown from Kansas to Houston a little over a year ago. It was an emergency situation, so we didn't have a lot of time to research companies but chose Air Ambulance 1. The ONLY reason they are getting 2 stars is because the actual flight was good. Everything went smooth and my dad was well taken care of. Now, the bad. First, we had to pay every penny UP Front. Even though dad was covered by Medicare plus supplemental insurance. It was a fiasco for them to get the payment method correct plus they charged us over $300.00 for paying with a debit card. My dad passed not long after and we discovered that Air Ambulance 1 also filed with Medicare to get paid for the flight that we Already paid 100% for. Between dealing with Medicare and AA1 we've finally been told by AA1 that we will be refunded what Medicare paid them. Now is the really screwed part. They are charging us $750.00 to refund us the overpayment! Apparently, it's in the contract we originally signed to have dad flown here. Of course, as I said, it was an emergency situation, so we didn't read every line of the contract. So AA1 gets to basically screw us out of $750.00. Their customer service isn't great either. My wife has spoken to several reps there and while some have been nice, others have been flat out rude. I called today and the rep I spoke with was nice and while he agreed that being charged $750 wasn't right, he couldn't do anything about it. The email about the fee came from Albert Ohayon VP Business Director / Coordinator Of course, there's no way to contact him, he hides behind the customer service reps instead. Just be warned, if you use AA1 you may get screwed out of $$$ read more

My wife and I went on vacation to Houston. She was 7 months pregnant at the time. She ended up in he hospital and the doctor didn't want her to fly back to San Francisco commercial airline in danger of placental abruption. Driving was not an option because there's a long span of areas between hospitals going back to San Francisco. We didn't know what options were out there, but Air Ambulance 1 went out of their way to give us all our options and help us through this difficult time getting back home. Both teams in the office and the team that traveled with us, were very kind, patient and very professional. We just want to express our appreciation and say thank you so much for supporting us through this difficult time. read more

I am the lady referred to in the review written by David Venable concerning Air Ambulance 1. I am totally upset by their actions. We paid them in full for the flight from Topeka, KS to Houston, TX At the time we were in a very upset turmoil because my husband could not walk, sit up or stand but needed to get to MD Anderson hospital because he needed immediate surgery for the second time due to brain cancer. We did what we were told and got the flight down there as contracted. AA1 claimed them charged us for medical treatment on the way down there but that is a LIE. I was in the plane with them and they didn't do anything at all for him because there was nothing to do. He had a catheter which needed no attention. That's the only thing he had on. No IIv's no oxygen that had to be checked. They never even checked his vitals. All we did was sit in our seats the whole time. AA1 told us they were NOT going to file a claim with Medicare or our gap insurance. So if course we filed with Medicare and our gap insurance and they paid their share to AA1 which we were not told about until 2022. This flight took place in 2021. It took us a very long time to get the information from Medicare telling us that they had paid AA1 for the same thing we had paid them in advance of the flight. So therefore AA1 got paid TWICE for the same service. That is Medicare FRAUD. We paid them $13,364.00 for the flight there and AA1 only wants to pay us $4, 000.00 and some change! Now the two kickers are 1. They want to charge us $ 750.00 for them to send us a check! 2. They are going to make the check out to my husband who passed away over a year ago because he was the patient AND they want to mail it to my Daughter-in- law who paid for the flight with a charge card. They live in Houston and I live in Kansas. It makes no sense what so ever. My advice to everyone is if you ever need a medical flight STAY AWAY FROM AIR AMBULANCE 1. read more

About two weeks ago it was medically necessary to get my wife back from Boca Raton Florida to NYC memorial Sloan Kettering for chemo treatments ASAP. Flying commercial was impossible due to the pain my wife was suffering from and our only option was finding an air ambulance back to NY. That is where our one phone call to Air Ambulance 1 was a life saver! We had a quote (which was very reasonable), pick up at our house by ambulance, to the airport, on the plane, and an ambulance waiting to take us to the hospital in NY. The process was and implementation was seamless. The crew included a Pilot, co-pilot and two experienced medics to watch and make sure my wife was comfortable AND medically safe the entire time. Every one of these people were professional, respectful and extremely competent. My wife is now under treatment and is at the hospital being treated by the doctors that are the best in the world! Without Air Ambulance1 this would not have been possible. I hope I never have to use them again but if necessary, I would use NO ONE else. Before leaving Florida, their medics had all my wife's medical information to make sure the medics were prepared for any special needs of my wife. I want to thank Air Ambulance 1 from the bottom of my heart... two thumbs up! I would give three but I only have 2 read more
