Got picked up at 6am at our hotel to beat the traffic and immediately began to learn about local life, culture, history, and the do's and don'ts of the island. Aina Kane driver and owner of this business took us to a couple of beautiful look out points and then to Kalapawai Cafe & Deli - Waimanalo for some Kalua pork burritos for breakfast. Next visited valley of the temples where a beautiful crimson replica of a 950-year-old Japanese Buddhist temple sits. Had lunch at Tanaka Kahuku Shrimp. The stopped at the beach 10 minutes away for a quick dip. Visited North Shore Macadamia Nut Company & ended the tour at the Dole plantation. Everything was timed perfectly to ensure you cross "driving around the island in a day" off your list. We also crossed off "turtle sightings","taste of local cuisine", and most importantly meeting new people which funny enough, out of 13 people eight of us strangers were from the San Gabriel Valley. As we got dropped off at our hotel Aina provided a list of recommended eateries and is hooking it up with a contact to a couple of local surf instructors. Thank you Aina for the memories. Better to be driven than be driving around yourself where as a driver you don't get to enjoy the scenery. Give him a shout. Highly recommended. read more
