This came as a shock to us because we returned the truck with the same amount of fuel in it. We had driven less than 30 miles total. We reached out to customer service thinking that it must be a mistake. They were not helpful. They told us we should have taken pictures of the fuel gauge. We feel like we were taken advantage of and charged for something we did not use. Based on our encounter I am sure this is not the first time that this location has wrongfully stolen from its customers. We will not be using Uhaul any longer in the future and have warned our friends and family to steer clear of this location.

I reserved a 10' moving van for a few hours on a Sunday because I was getting a new bed. I needed the van to transport my old bed to a family member and my new-to-me sleep number bed from another family member to my place. A little while after I made my reservation online someone called and said my pick-up location needed to be changed but it was a short distance from the original one, so no biggie. Thanks for being so attentive. I arrived right on time and was able to park my car for the afternoon on the street for free. The gentleman that set me up with everything was nice and thorough, explaining all the ins and outs. They sell everything you would need to move inside their small retail shop. I grabbed two mattress sleeves for the beds, forgot them on the counter, and they were nice enough to refund me for them since I was already on the highway. I had absolutely no problem with the truck and checking it back in and getting a receipt was a breeze. For four hours, it was around $65, which I considered to be fair. Overall, I wouldn't have any hesitation to rent from here again.

I called the uhaul office and after putting me on hold for ten minutes they told me that they had known about the broken door and rented me the van anyways (because fuck me, I guess). The couch I was purchasing on craigslist wouldn't rotate through the side door and wouldn't fit through the back with only one door functional, so I couldn't buy it, basically rented the van for nothing. Was this a typical experience? Probably not. Should I have been more careful checking everything before I left? Probably yes. Online payment is difficult to navigate with many steps. They did recently update the website so it doesn't look so 1998. You are locked out if you do not pay on time, and then 3 days before you start incurring late fees. I forget the timeframe but If you don't pay they auction off your belongings so don't play around here. It almost seems like maybe that is another reason it is difficult to pay (fees, auction revenue) but just my speculation. They get you in with a low rate and raise it every year. I would look for another option but the annual cost savings versus the cost of the move is still not justified so will just stay out for now. It is what it is and is secure option. I will say that as renters that live in an apartment, it is a great option as we have combined spaces. We needed storage for our extra furniture, decorations, dishes, and general stuff and it has worked out ok.
