I have been a loyal Mercury Insurance customer through Aim First Insurance Services for eight years, since purchasing my first car. Unfortunately, this experience has left me deeply disappointed in the agency's transparency and accountability. In April, my premium increased by $100 without a clear explanation. Now, my latest renewal has nearly DOUBLED! When I questioned why, I was initially told it was because I commute to work, despite the fact that I WORK REMOTELY. Then I was told I had driven 28,000 miles in SIX MONTHS, which is completely inaccurate. I spent two days gathering mechanical records and odometer documentation showing I had driven approximately 13,000 miles in TEN MONTHS. Despite providing this evidence, I was told they would not reexamine my policy for another THREE MONTHS. How is it acceptable to charge customers based on inaccurate information and then refuse to promptly address the discrepancy? The owner's response only added to my frustration. She suggested that my T-shirt business takes me "out in the field" and may have contributed to the higher mileage. All of my business affairs are conducted from home. Instead of addressing the documentation I provided, her response offered an assumption about my business that does not explain the disputed odometer reading. My concern is that an inaccurate odometer reading was entered or reported, and nobody has explained where it came from. I provided proof disputing that reading, yet the owner's response did not acknowledge the discrepancy or explain how it would be investigated and corrected. Whether this resulted from an error or intentional falsification remains unanswered. After eight years of loyalty, I expected a thorough review and a clear explanation. Instead, I was left with unresolved questions and a response wishing me well with my new carrier. I WILL NEVER RETURN. I strongly encourage others to carefully review their premiums and mileage records. Customers deserve honesty, transparency, and accountability, along with prompt attention when documentation shows that the information used to rate their policy is inaccurate. Just say we messed up. My personal car does not operate as a business vehicle. Considering my side business is also a work from home businesses there was no rational behind bringing it up. In addition since the simple google search was conducted to find out I own sed business you would also see the business is operated from my home. The number of lies listed in chronological order through the past 48 hours that have contributed to mileage increase.... It's like the game of find 3 lies and one semi truth: 1. I commute to work (false) 2. My odometer was reported at 100k in April ... on my birthday (false) 3. My small tshirt in home business has created an increase in mileage (false) but glad they found me on Google. But please someone hit an award winning buzzer for the biggest lie ever .... A tshirt business putting 28k miles in 6 months on a car? I'd have to drive to US/ Mexico 229.60 times to achieve that and back ... there have been 183 days since April 29 which means some days I'd need to drive this twice to achieve that ... 4. Insurance premiums in California have increased in California. (True) but not doubled .... I can do basic math but it seems like for them to realize the car has not been driven 28k miles based on the odometers readings needs to be broken down in a "If Johnny had had 5 apples" math equation ...... how many apples would Johnny have left ? So originally yes they got me a less expensive rate then others. However as the years progressed my rates were rising and rising. I never have had a ticket, I am a good driver, no accidents and why wasn't I getting a discount for those things? Well I had to change my policy for those reasons. I remember once I told her I was changing policies she wasn't happy and that was the first time I felt her get snarky and short but I understood why. Just completely avoid this place at all costs. Reasons why I say so below: Reason 1: I called to change my policy to full coverage and the agent I spoke with was hasty to change it over, but decided to not let me know that if I changed my premium midway through I would be responsible for paying the rest of my premium that I want to change from. Long story short I noticed my bill shot up more than what I was told over the phone and I called them to see why and that's when I was told the above. That would have been an important detail to have mentioned when I wanted to switch over my coverage and to make things worse they had me hand write a letter to cancel the full coverage and restore my insurance back to its original monthly cost. Reason 2: They like to sneak in extra things you don't need on your insurance to charge you more per month. I noticed that my rates changed from a year ago by $10 more a month! After some research I found that they had added Uninsured motorists property damage liability when I had never even accepted that type of coverage onto my premium! California doesn't even require you to have that coverage! Just be careful because this broker is money hungry and will lie, or withhold information to get every penny out of you. Reason 3: I called to let them know I want to cancel my auto renewal for the upcoming month of September. The lady on the phone just stayed quite for about 30 seconds like I had offended her and proceeded to let out a sigh like she was annoyed. She rudely asked for my address and didn't even verify my name! Piss poor service if you ask me. I will be calling back to make sure she did her part to remove the auto renewal. I want to give names, but I am not in the business of getting people in trouble, or having them lose their job. Whatever you do, avoid this broker at all costs. Mercury insurance itself is not a bad company and offers excellent services and coverages, but the broker in question here should really be dropped by them. I will be filing a complaint with mercury insurance to let them know how AIM operates and that because of their actions I have chosen a different insurance company.
