Extremely rude. We worked with an agent who worked for her company over ten years ago and rented the apartment that an agent that worked for her showed us. We recently contacted her through her website and said that we worked with her company before, and asked if she can work with us on listings now and provided the details of what we were looking for. She responded with "you didn't work with my company before tho" First of all, RUDE. Second of all, just because you don't remember, doesn't mean it didn't happen. Third, if you don't want the business then don't bother responding. I 101% regret that I wasted my time reaching out only to be treated like I was some scammer pretending to have worked with her. For what? Why in the world will a person reach out to her under false pretenses of having worked with her before? Writing this review is not only cathartic but consider yourself warned of the rudeness and unprofessional behavior of this person. When she saw me she said "you never mentioned it was two people"...after our viewing she texted me saying "I see your right, you did mention your boyfriend" so unprofessional. I contacted her thru StreetEasy to look at a two bedroom. Her first questions wanted to know who would live in the apartment and what my job is. No greeting, no offer to set up a viewing...rude but whatever, we're in NYC. I responded that it would be three of us, and that I'm a design profesional. She almost immediately responds back verbatim, "I sincerely doubt this will be big enough for 3 people. If you look at the floorplan, you will see its smaller than the average 1br. " Still no offer to set up a viewing. Nor an offer to show us some of her larger listings that would easily accommodate 3 people by her large city living standards. Nasty spirited woman. It's not worth giving her the time of day or any of your money. I truly feel sorry for her. How miserable and hateful towards yourself and your life do you have to be to act so rudely to complete strangers? And strangers that are trying to do business with you nonetheless? read more

I recently met Maria Aidonis because I was looking to rent in Astoria. She has a distinct personality that initially seemed very "matter of fact" and I wasn't sure what to make of her. Cut to ten minutes later and I felt like I was speaking with someone I'd known all along. She went above and beyond to make my experience with her and the apartment I was looking at work for me. Ultimately I wasn't able to take that apartment (nothing to do with her or the landlord) and I genuinely felt bad that she'd put so much effort forth. In the end she was just as cool and understanding as she'd been throughout the entire search. I would highly recommend her to anyone who's looking for a knowledgeable and helpful realtor who will think outside the box and work hard for clients. Maria has a terrible attitude. She talks down to you as if she believes you don't have any money when she's not even showing expensive apartments. She wouldn't wear a mask outdoors when walking with us. I told her I lived down the street and she was telling me my place wasn't as large and nice as the places we were seeing when she hadn't even been to my building (which is 5x as nice as the shitty places she showed). She hyped up shit hole apartments that were not nice and dirty. She was trying to lecture us about being responsible, etc. which was completely irrelevant. When she finished showing us two places, she didn't follow up and let us know to contact her if we had any questions. She literally just walked away. Maria is a condescending, rude person and should consider changing careers. During both of our apartment viewings she took off her mask like it was just for show, which was alarming and not up to nyc realtor code. While showing the apt, she would argue facts about the size or kitchen appliances with a hard selling attitude. At the end of showing she literally said "bye" and stormed off. I mean really, how do you expect to rent any apartments with an attitude like that? Other realtors have been very helpful and personable, taken into account what I'm looking for and contacted me later with more listings. I saw another listing she put up recently that was worth looking at, but obviously I won't be giving her one more second of my time. Seemed like a step up from the other company I had been dealing with. Sadly though, Maria was snotty from the beginning. I reached out to her about a small 2 bedroom apartment listed on Zillow. After answering all the usual questions about income, etc., I asked if I could take a look at the apartment, to see if it was even worth my roommate traveling here to view it/sign. Maria straight up said "No, that is why I post pictures and floorpans." I didn't think I was being unreasonable at all. I answered again, trying to explain, but she just never replied back. We love Maria. We met her back in 2013 when we were trying to find our first apartment in Queens. She was the seller's agent at one of the apartments we were interested in - we had not yet had a realtor and searched on our own for a while but she always stuck in our memory as someone we wanted to work with. We liked her straightforward approach, no BS, just the facts so we called her a few weeks later and asked if we can work exclusively with her on our search. She's highly intelligent, knows the market inside and out, and is practical. She doesn't sugar-coat anything and when you're buying something as expensive as an apartment in NYC, trust me, you don't want someone who is going to be phony and frilly - that doesn't help anyone. You want someone who is prompt, exact, and transparent. We bought a fantastic apartment in Jackson Heights through her. Because of my husband's job relocation, only 2.5 years later, we had to put that same apartment back on the market. Maria sold that apartment for double what we bought it for. That's the kind of return everyone wants in their investment and Maria makes those deals happen. Both the purchase & sale of our Jackson Heights apartment were very difficult to achieve as is the nature with most NYC co-ops and Maria was able to balance out all of the moving parts between co-op boards, lawyers, inspectors, realtors, and seller/buyer relationships. A few months ago, I needed to put my dad's house in Westchester County on the market and there was no one else we wanted on the task but Maria. The market is absolutely dead up there right now and I had no hope but somehow Maria found us a buyer and we now have a contract in the works. She worked so diligently doing open houses almost every other weekend to get that place shown and sold. So it'll be 3 transactions we've worked on with Maria and she's our official go-to. On top of it all, she's also incredibly funny & quick-witted which helps a lot when you're in the midst of stressful real estate back and forths where you feel like giving up. She always makes light of crappy situations. Nothing is ever too challenging or impossible - she always finds a way. Irena is a great broker - incredibly responsive, detailed, and tremendous amount of energy. I had seen a few apartments with Irena a few years ago, and ended up going with a referral from a friend in Brooklyn, but remembered Irena's professionalism and honesty when I looked for apartments in Queens this spring. True to my memory, she responded within maybe one minute of contacting her and we looked at several places one evening, finding the right one within an hour or so. Even after we had signed our lease and completed the formal broker process with her, we had problems contacting our management company and building super to arrange our move-in time and Irena stopped by the building to personally speak with the super and make sure we had his correct contact information. In short, Irena is great and if we need to look for another place in the area in the future, we'll definitely go back to her. read more

I'm a bit delayed in writing this review, but better late than never. My boyfriend and I contacted Maria back in March for about an apartment we found on Street Easy it was one of the first times I felt just fine paying a broker's fee. She was honest and upfront about the apartment and the vetting process. She also helped us every step of the way even after we moved in. We had a few special requests (wanted the fridge moved, asked about keeping some furniture) and she really went above and beyond to accommodate us. You might find she's a bit abrupt over email, but in person she was incredibly helpful and made sure both us a tenants and the landlord were well serviced. Highly recommend! read more

Even her apartment listing was far more professional than other brokers (seriously, who puts up an accurate floor plan for rental apartments nowadays? That was awesome!). I had tried to find no fee apartments on my own and after a bunch of wasted hours i ended up calling one of the brokers i found on craigslist. Our agent was Irena Crainiciuc. She was able to show us six apartments all around the Sunnyside area that day and one that was not even listed yet. There was no possible way we could have gotten the same quality apartment at the price we did without her, so to me it was quite worth the fee. She also handled most of the paperwork and dealings with the property owner, and responds quickly anytime we text her questions. (which was often) The only problem i have is that we recommended her to my girlfriends mom, and now we might be getting a new neighbor ... bummer. But if you are going the broker fee route for the Sunnyside or Astoria area, Irena will find you a place. read more

I created a Yelp account just so I could rave about Aidonis Realty! After my husband accepted a job in NYC, we flew out and had 3 days to find an apartment before we flew home to the midwest. Not only did we have a major time constraint, but we also had to find something that was pet friendly, kid friendly, and close to the subway. She immediately put us at ease, and worked very closely with us to pair us with a great place. She really bent over backwards for us, and we were very impressed by her no pressure approach, her constant communication (she even answered emails very late at night to answer questions), and her great sense of humor. It was nerve-wracking trying to coordinate a big move like this, and she really helped everything go smoothly. Trying to find a pet friendly apartment in Astoria is difficult. Trying to find one for a lovely older mid size Doberman? It's like pulling teeth. We found a "too good to be true" ad on Craigslist with a link to the Aidonis site. After viewing too many websites that were either very unhelpful or with no information, it was great to see one that fulfilled everything I could ask for. The photos were well taken (you saw the room, and not just the sink in the bathroom) and the godsend was the groundplans included with every listing. If you've ever thought that an apartment was too big or too small for what you're paying, here's your immediate answer. Of course we called Maria to set up a time to see this "amazing" apartment - fully expecting to get something other. We met with Maria and even though I was running late, and she had other places to be, she let us look in and have a thorough look. The apartment was exactly as represented, and to say we were shocked was a understatement! I found her very forthright and direct. I think we always expect brokers to wheedle their way into our wallets, and she was not interested in that. I found it really refreshing and honest. Applying for the apartment was relatively painless, and considering we both had super hectic schedules we conducted the whole thing over email. It was great to be able to submit stuff (including our application fee) online. That way when I got home at 2am I could send it out without waking anyone up, or waiting until I had a business day available. All in all, the experience was a good one - I would have liked more personal interaction (subtlety is in the face and voice after all) - but considering the crazy schedule I keep, it was an amazingly easy and quick. read more
