We were lucky to get a same-day appointment that needed to come back later before dinner time. It worked perfectly with our schedule. The front desk lady was super nice and funny. After coming back for our appointment at 4:15 pm, we were treated by a guy who took us to the back and let us soak into this amazing hot water tub. We ordered two: Serenity: $75 per person: 45 min. foot reflexology 15 min. hand reflexology 15 min. foot soak After our feet were soaked, we were taken to a room and it was just us two. Very peaceful. The chairs were comfy. The pressure was also not hard, but not soft either. It did relax our legs and feet muscles a lot, we were less sore than ever. I think the price is a bit high. Parking was easy to find. It's street parking so just need to pay thru the kitty parking app.

Luxury and pampering are waiting for you at this upscale spa…read more The Ritz-Carlton Spa is located on the 19th floor, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the city skyline. Emily , the receptionist, enthusiastically pointed out that you can see Mt. Hood, Mt Adams and Mt. Saint Helens on a clear day. My first impression was one of neutral tones, dangling pendant lights and wood that accentuated the skyline. It felt like stepping into an elevated, serene sanctuary showcasing the Pacific Northwest. The spa facilities include five treatment rooms 1) A eucalyptus steam with piped in babbling brook sounds. 2) A dry sauna 3), A relaxation lounge with floor to ceiling windows 4) A snow shower 5) Private rain showers There's a Pool/Wellness Area that is only available for guests. One of the spa patrons asked if she could soak in the hot tub but the staff declined. Because I couldn't access it I have not included it in my review. The relaxation lounge had trail mix, coconut macaroons and fresh fruit to snack on. There was tea and infused water. The water was delicious. It was flavored with lemon, cucumber and mint. I received the rose water manicure. I recommend requesting Patrick. He had excellent hand massage skills. The salt scrub was divine. He produced a tray of five scented hand masks that I could pick from. I chose Mandarin. I was tempted by the "fresh" and the oolong scented mask. Those will have to wait for my next trip. Patrick and Emily were wonderful people. They made me feel welcome and at ease. This is a smaller spa without soaking features unless you are staying at the hotel. That didn't detract from my experience. I liked that it was divided between female and male locker rooms. It allowed me to have a more private space. It was so serene and calming that all my stress melted away. The icing on the cake was the incredible amenities. They had eucalyptus iced towels for your sauna. You were given a luxurious robe and shoes along with multiple towels. The lotion, soap, shampoo, hair, conditioner, were top quality. The hairbrushes, combs, razors, toothbrushes, etc. were ESPA certified. Even their shower caps were made out of starch. I would recommend the Ritz Carlton spa to anyone seeking a luxurious experience.

I had read up about the place so I knew the locker rooms were coed, but I was still confused as to whether there were changing rooms or what was the proper etiquette. Place is small and I understand the price is more moderate compared to other spas, but you feel nickel and dimed. Everything is extra, you don't even get complimentary tea. The masseuses were amazing, no complaints there, but when we tried to tip and asked if 100% goes to the masseuse, they said 25% goes to the spa and 75% to the masseuse. I'm sorry, what? Very unethical considering that structure is not transparent at all. The massages were amazing so it's a shame they're not getting their fair share.

Laurelhurst Massage Therapy was massage #2 for me in my quest to burn up my medical flex spending…read moreaccount for the year. Since I'm new to the whole world of professional massages, I wanted to try a variety of places so I could get a feel for what constitutes a great massage - at least from my perspective. Feel free to read my previous review of Abundant Healing Massage for the full scoop on what my personal requirements were for finding a massage therapist. I found Laurelhurst Massage Therapy in the classified ads from Just Out as well, and set an appointment with Rick Sullivan, LMT for this past Sunday. My 90-minute massage (for $90, cash or checks only) at Laurelhurst Massage was a very different type from the first one I had a week ago at Abundant Healing. Rick's focus is primarily in relaxation, and the massage was a much milder, softer experience without the emphasis on deep tissue that I'd previously experienced. I found the massage really enjoyable... I even almost drifted off to sleep at one point. However, I didn't really feel like my body had been "worked" when I left the session. I was mellow and happy, and I can imagine that I might want to have this lighter type of massage at certain times... but it wasn't the mind-blowing experience I'd had last week. That's probably a good thing, because I can see how too many mind-blowing, deep massages could actually kind of mess your body up if they were too close together. Some interesting choices available from this studio that I did not pursue this time included the option of a 4-hand tandem massage, where two masseurs work on your body simultaneously, or a couples massage, where you and your partner/spouse/friend can have a massage together. I think what I liked the most about Laurelhurst Massage was the studio itself. It's in a small building behind the house on Stark Street... it looks like it might have once been a detached garage but was renovated into the current studio. There is a dry sauna and an exotic shower facility available for use both before and after your appointment. The shower is one of those multi-spray types and was really quite enjoyable... it makes my own shower back at home seem pitiful by comparison. The option of a shower after the massage is one of those seemingly-obvious bonuses that makes you wonder why that isn't always available. It feels good to wash off the massage oils afterward, and the warm water of the shower helps to extend the feeling of relaxation from the massage itself. Overall, a decent place to try. I would consider them again for a possible couples massage in the future, or when I just want a mellow massage. But I think I'm more sold on the approach at Abundant Healing.
