Let me just say, I was on a trek to find authentic Mexican bread or "Pan Dulce" for my entire trip…read moreto the Yakima and Columbia Valley. Having grown up in California, I remember walking in to the bakery with my parents only to be greeted by the sweet aroma of fresh baked bread. I would always choose my favorite piece and watch it closely in the bag all the way home. In an attempt to find some authentic bread, we were headed to a chain store that would surely sell less than suitable bread to spark memories. By chance we found La Petunia. We were greeted by Don Rosas and quickly and eagerly I went on a rampage picking out my own bread. As a side note, it is quite common for there to be a butcher shop within a small bodega store, as was the case here. We din't buy meat so I will ignore it. Regardless. With the ovens that cook the bread in the background still whirring and having chosen and tasted some churros and a small piece of bread here and there we were off. The bread is the freshest and closest thing to my childhood market bread that I have ever tasted in Washington State and in California. 10/10 would highly recommend and will even consider driving all the way to Yakima just for this bread. As a side note, the taco truck outside is equally delicious!

It's located in an iconic for a building with a giant sign that simply reads "Fruit" - Washington nostalgia at its best! Apparently they are renting the place from the previous owners had lucky for all of us, it gives us a chance to buy more delicious produce and local products a little bit further down on the trail! Located on the way out to Naches, this place has tons of great stuff be at for a bike ride, a barbecue or just grabbing some delicious tree grown treats for at home. The produce that is available here largely mirrors what is down the road a few miles at the main stand near Suntides golf course. When we came in, they had tons of fresh bing and rainier cherries, apricots, peppers, Blueberries and plenty of potatoes and onions. The array of colors on any of the tables is always impressive and make sure thankful to live in a place like this! In addition to fruit, they roast their own peanuts, sell Tillamook ice cream, So local honey, rustic wooden furniture as well as meats from a butcher in Selah and smoked salmon from a small town on the Westside. It all added up to more than we were expecting and gave us a lot of reasons to come back here other than just the tree fruit options. The prices are very reasonable and the gal working here was very friendly. It's the sort of place you stop on your way out and on your way back, and is a good reason to carry a bag or basket on your bike! A great stop no matter what the occasion.

My family has been eating these very sausages for as long as I can remember and it's always been a treat. I can honestly say that I have been eating these same sausages my whole entire life. My family doesn't just shop for dinner here, we pack our freezers! My mom will order several pounds the smoked German sausage when she's in town and fly them back home to Texas. Are they the best in the world? Probably not, but being a classic dinner here and there throughout my 40 years on this earth and having grown up in the Yakima Valley makes them the best in my world. We were so glad after getting some of their wonderful pepperoni and other fine meats . This is a great little mom and paw type of store. We actually met the grandson. Who was there late on a Saturday and let us in to get our selections. The pepperoni is exceptionally moist compared to some of the others I have had and I'm a bit of a pepperoni connoisseur so I highly recommend this great little store.

The prices are a touch higher than Walmart, but supporting IGA is boss in our opinion! The produce here is always excellent, the meat counter is a delight and they have an amazing wine and beer selection that runs the gamut from low end, I just need alcohol for a housewarming gift type stuff, to much higher end, I need a housewarming gift for someone I like type action! The cheese selection is solid and it looks as if they're continuing to expand the specialty cheeses and meats. Key knowledge - They have Amish Butter! If you've not tried it....it's so good! I figured it wasn't any different either, but know that it is! Everyone here is always exceptionally friendly and goes out of their way to help customers. It's not uncommon for them to taking bags out to the car of a pregnant woman or elderly couple. Keep up the great work!
