The history of the shop and its role in Savannah is amazing. There is nothing fancy here, just good conversation and a great haircut by the staff. Melody is also a barber (she learned from her grandfather and father) and she is present at the shop all day. There are plenty of magazines available, as well as numerous Polaroid pictures to look at of you have to wait for a haircut. Located a block off Victory Boulevard, its location is very convenient. Highly recommended if you want to look your best.

That's just one of the things we love. Unfortunately, it took many bad haircuts at other places, that left both my son and I upset, before we found Jeff at The Barber Shop. I'm just glad we finally did and hope this review can help someone else from paying for another bad haircut for their son (or self). We love Jeff and while he is the only one that cuts my son's hair, I honestly I don't think you could go wrong no matter who you choose. I have never seen anyone leave here without a smile on their face, a sure sign of a great barber shop. It is important to know it's a cash only business. It can be less than convenient some times but I promise you, it's worth the little extra effort to make sure you have cash. Luckily, you don't need much cash with their great prices. Updating 2/10/2017 after finding out Yelp's computer system randomly "froze for review" my review and ten others for this same excellent business. Hoping my review will remain visible now as it is honest and The Barber Shop deserves to have potential customers have access to it.

I was told that her lunch hour started at 11:30 so she didn't have time to take me (in the 25 minutes remaining). My hair is very simple to cut (classic business cut) and usually takes about 10 minutes. I left and will not be going back. So, essentially, the posted 11:30 to 12:30 lunch hour is actually at LEAST 11:00 to 12:30. I'm sympathetic to the need for a decent lunch hour, but there was really no excuse for this. Fortunately, there are other very good barbers on Hilton Head and they will be getting my business going forward.

When we walked in, the master barber was on a facetime call with (what I'm assuming was) his child. No big deal, as a mom- I get it. However, he didn't say a word to us, just motioned towards his chair. I awkwardly started to try and explain what we usually have done at the other shop we go to, while he was still talking to his child, and before I knew it, my son's hair was basically going to have to become a buzz cut. I tried telling him we usually keep it long on top (to which he responded, "oh.") but it was too late at that point. While it could definitely have been a communication error on my end, he did not take the time to listen or discuss anything with me before he started buzzing. My son is so upset and now will have to deal with weeks of growing his hair back out because the barber couldn't be bothered to get off the phone and speak to us. He did finally get off the phone, but he still said nothing throughout the cut. The cut itself isn't even good- completely uneven in the front. He also cut my son's neck in several places and he said it was the most painful haircut he has ever gotten. He took another personal phone call during the appointment as well. The whole experience was just awful and the mom guilt for even taking him here is the cherry on top. I'd post a picture of the cut, but he won't let me take one.
