I went here for Japanese Straightening for many years. Hair always came out good. However in recent visits, my roots didn't come out straight around my head in random spots. They were fried. But what bothered me most was how the owner had the audacity to ask me to tip more at my last visit. I used electronic payment to pay. She told me to include the tip in the electronic payment, not to leave cash. I thought that was very sketchy not to tip workers directly, like I had been doing for years there. Who knows if she gave them their tip?? Then she actually said "can you tip more" after peeking at my phone, the total payment I was sending. I was already leaving two tips to two separate workers on top of the total cost. I've never had that happen before. Needless to say I won't be returning there again. read more

A friend recommended me to this salon.. and I will pay it forward, I'm recommending this salon if you wanna do Keratin straight treatment. Was easy to make an appointment (they're not busy), Good price, and i love the result! Cut is included in the price, I kinda doubt at in the beginning cause the stylist only spent 4 minutes to cut my hair, but the result is not too bad. This salon is good in hair straightening before but not anymore. Last month they charged me so high and my hair is still wavy. The owner complained about tips because i gave more to her assistance who did a better job than her. She speaks her language and obviously talking back behind customers they don't like. She also charged me of extra $22.00 without explanation. I just keep quiet to avoid arguments and i'm already feel annoyed. I was also got very wet when the daughter washed my hair. Never will go back to this salon. Respect and honesty for me are important. read more

This place was recommended by a coworker for the Japanese straightening. Her hair looked amazing after she had it done. My hair is super long, thick, and frizzy. They can handle all hair types though. I've tried getting this treatment done in (my home city) Philadelphia's Chinatown, and even in LA's K town when I was on vacation. Neither looked as good as Aha. I drive from Philadelphia to get this done about once a year and it is definitely worth it. It takes someone with my hair length and texture about 5 hours, so bring a book or bring a charger for your cell! When I wake up in the morning, my hair looks like a Disney princess. To add, it is affordable. The last time I went it was around $160. You can't beat the price. read more

I love the Japanese hair straightening they did to my hair.. I did lots of hair straightening in my life and this is the best so far! My hair became so soft and silky literally! I will definitely go back here when my hair starts to get curly again from roots for retouch. The owner liza is very nice and taking care of my hair very well, and the 2 ladies were very nice too, they all have very light hands that doesn't hurt my head and scalp when they touch it or comb and wash.. I just posted a pic of my daughter's hair on yelp as evidence of a crappy job the so called stylist did. My daughter went for color and highlights. The owner and the stylist ( daughter, I think) quoted a price $125 if I'm not mistaken. The hair color came out too light and proceeded to explained that if she does the highlight it will be close to blond color. Then I noticed the color on top of her hair did not match the rest ( see the pic posted in their website).I pointed this out. Lo, and behold she only colored the roots! I said that granted she did the roots its quite evident that the coloring was not "blended" down to the rest of the hair and she said it looks ok, it matches, then looked annoyed and started to talk to the owner (her mom, I think) in their language like I don't know what I'm talking about. Then she said we should have informed her in the very beginning that my daughter wants a full color. I'm not a beauty expert but common sense will tell you that when you do highlights, you color the entire hair for uniformity then apply the highlights, right? Ended up paying $50 and went home with an uneven hair color. Will buy a $7 Revlon hair color at CVS to redo hair. Wasted money, wasted time!!! read more

This place is a hidden gem, I tried going to other places, but most of them don't accept credit or debit card, this place accept card they cut your hair nice, they also wax my facial hair and everything is affordable. The only thing I could ask for is wifi and a bigger space and this place will be very awesome, and I also wish they hire someone who's expert on doing black peoples hair, I have a black friends and they like to go to the salon and it's hard for me to introduce this place because nobody knows how to do it. never listen to them if they ask you or offer to do straightening and right after hair color . Is not working for black hair . I washed my hair after 3 days it was same even after blow dry an I checked again after week it is more damaged .. so never accepted such . My friends who worked at solon were right she told me don't do both at same day but I did trusting them . It didn't work on my hair . Aha Salon in Woodside is by far one of the best salons in Queens I have been to. I was shopping around places to take my mom to get her hair done for Mother's Day and happen to run into this place on 69th street in the Woodside area of Queens. when I entered the Salon they were very courteous and helpful in assisting me with my inquiry in bringing my mom in for her hair-do. I asked about their Japanese Hair straightening and was satisfied with their price. I brought my mom in and what else can I say but she was happy with her hair do. I almost feel sorry for her original hair stylist lol!. Since she mentioned she will definitely continue going to Aha salon for her next hair-do. read more

I have been going to this salon 3 times for Japanese Hair Straightening. It was recommended by a co-worker. Mind you I traveled from NJ about 45 min without traffic. They do a good job on the hair but their customer service is really bad. The owner is very cheap when it comes to product and keept checking the stylist to make sure they didn't overuse product. I have a lot of hair and very curly. So after I get the pricing quote I expect the best results. After the first time which I had my whole hair done the owner kept charging me the same price for just my root touch-up. Usually since I drove that long I would just stay. But I won't go back. The last time I went there was a new stylist and didn't know what she was doing. She applied product on top of my already straightened hair and it got ruined. I did tip both of my stylist and one thing I dislike is the owner goes up to them after and requests me to tip them more. I always tip stylist but I find it very unprofessional that the owner does that. Just because she doesn't want to pay her own workers her part. Tip is optional on how much you like the service received. I will find another salon with better customer service. read more

When the customer leaves the salon unhappy, there's a problem. This place was recommended by my room mate because she had a pleasant experience. I came to get a trim. I have a very long straight hair and I just needed a few inches trim. I suggested to the stylist if I could style my bangs a little bit and she just weakly responded, 'no just keep them straight, you have little bangs anyway'. Strike one. Just like Elsa, I let it go. Then when she was done cutting my hair she took off the towel or that cover thingy (with lots of hair from previous customers that got stuck on my shirt) and said, 'Just $15 because there was no styling needed' and 'no need to blow dry it's just the same when it dries up!' I was like wtf, 'this is the only salon that blow drying is optional or worst the stylist makes a decision for you! Another kind stylist came to me and offered to blow dry my hair but gawd I already stood up and picked up my things. I was hoping to leave the place happy and feel good about myself even if I only got a freakin trim. Blow drying makes HUGE difference. A little effort and a little care for my hair. I AM NOT COMING BACK. Not recommending either. read more

I was clearly mislead by yelp in this case, which has helped me many times in the past. There are many reasons I have to back up my one star review, even though they deserve 0. I went in for a Japanese straightening treatment. First off, they over charged me, when I have been there before and was charged less for more work. This time, they only needed to apply the treatment to my roots and still they charged me $30 more than the previous time I chose this salon. Second, I asked for layers and they criticized my natural hair. Five people had worked on my hair with 2 main workers. It was clear when I went to pay for the work done to my hair that they had 5 people work on it just so they could receive more tips. When i went to give each of them tips, I gave the 2 main workers $5 and the other 3 $3. I was then told by one of the employees that i have to give them all $5. They decided to exclaim this in front of everyone else in the salon and embarrassed me. I would have gladly given them that extra $2 had they asked me in private. If I'm not mistaken, I'm not obligated at all to give them any tip. She said it to me in a such a rude manner and were acting in such a way the entire time. I'm a paying customer that deserves respect. I will never recommend this salon to any of my friends or family or ever go back. read more
