I was in the neighborhood and thought I'd give this place a try. Didn't have high expectations due to the limited amount of reviews posted, but here is my experience: -------------------------------------------------- Phone call: No hold time, person was responsive, eager, and patient answering my questions. Atmosphere: There is one flight of steep stairs leading up to the entrance, with approximately 10-15 steps. The place is well-maintained, with clean floors/chairs, and comfortable/clear lighting. There are more than 5 seats available and an ottoman for waiters. Wait time: I went Sunday evening at 6PM and there was no one else there. I was seated right away. COVID: No temperature checks or plexiglass set up, but all 3 workers there were wearing masks. Service: The owner was polite and greeted me as I walked in. I requested a haircut, she told me the price, then directed me to sit and assigned a hairdresser my way. The hairdresser that took care of me was nice and friendly. She did not try to make small talk with me, but that's completely fine. It was a relaxing experience. When I showed her pictures, the owner was attentive and came over to make sure she understood exactly what I wanted before the cut. I don't believe the staff besides the owner speaks much English. Cut: The handwork was professional, she knew what she was doing. She used multiple scissors/clippers and wasn't aggressive. It did not take very long, maybe about 30 minutes. She took her time to make sure the layering and shaping up was perfect. She asked me if I wanted a wash and/or hair gel after. It came out looking like the pictures I showed her. Surprisingly, she cut my hair exactly how I want it (I usually have to mention to barbers to cut it shorter or round off the edges). It seems like she knew what "look" would fit me best the first time she saw me and I was impressed. When I went home and checked in the mirror, there were a few stray long hairs left near my ears (probably because of the mask). This didn't bother me much since it's not that uncommon with other barbers. Not saying it was the best haircut I've ever had but I would come back here. read more

Decided to try out a new place for my son and I told the guy with glasses, please cut it short but leave his front side bangs. But what did he do? He started SHAVING my son's hair!!! He looks like he's bald now. When he was almost done, I had to tell him to stop. Not only is he not sorry, he felt he was doing it right. My son was teary when we left cos he saw how bad his haircut was. The lady there kept saying, it's fine, his hair will grow back. Listen, it's not okay for YOU to tell my kids, it's fine. It will grow back. You guys messed up and not even sorry about it and kept saying it's okay, hair will grow back. I didn't ask for my son to be bald. What the hell?! You know you messed up when you're telling us nonstop the hair will grow. Horrible. I was livid. I didn't care who was there but I let them know we definitely won't be back. I came in with no appointment. I was greeted by the owner, Nina. She asked what haircut I want and relayed it to her colleague. The colleague, who I didn't get a chance to get her name, did an ok job giving me a trim and side bangs. When I approached Nina to pay, she checked my haircut and asked me to sit down again to give me some retouches. She made my haircut better by making it look like there is more volume to my hair! The haircut is not bad for $20. Definitely recommend and will come back! read more

Please read this review so you can save yourself from making the mistake of coming here. This is the most disgusting hair salon I've ever been to in my entire life. It is filthy all around. There is hair everywhere!!! On the floor, on the seats, on the counters, on the electrical outlets (such a safety hazard). The "stylists" do not clean their station after each client. It actually looks like they haven't cleaned the salon ever. I literally felt like throwing up. Let's talk about the service. My "stylist" was so rough with my hair. She was tripping over me to grab her tools and also constantly tangling the wires of the blowdryer & hair straightener. She did a rough cut of my hair and started blow drying my hair without rewetting or adding any product (I have thin curly hair so it got extremely dry and frizzy after sitting in a towel for 30mins). She didn't even ask me if I wanted it blow dried or straightened, but continued to do so anyways. In the beginning of very short consultation I showed her a picture of the haircut I wanted, plus I emphasized on trimming my curtain bangs. She didn't even cut my bangs at all but was finishing up the session and trying to show me the final look. I pointed at my flat "bangs" that she straightened and blended into the rest of my hair. She pretended to cut them but she slightly ran the scissors thru them. She honestly had no idea wtf she was doing. How the hell is she a hair stylist? Not to forget that they didn't hand me a new cape, but used one the client before me took off just 2 minutes before I sat in the seat. EWW. Don't even get me started on their tools. Hair all over them and they don't even clean it thoroughly before using on diff clients. Not a barbicide container in sight. I don't understand how this place is allowed to run by DOS guidelines? I closed my eyes and just prayed for this to be over asap. At the end, even though I was not satisfied at all with my look, I was ready to get the hell out of there. The owner Nina checked me out, and did her classic small talk that I observed her doing with every person paying. I was just trying to leave. I paid then walked over to tip the lady that cut my hair even though she did a horrible job. I did and as I was walking away, Nina told me to tip the girl that washed me hair. Excuse me? I hate businesses that demand a tip when they don't even provide standard service. BTW this girl also ruined a client's shirt with green hair dye and made a mess in the salon. But anyways, I resentfully gave the tip and left the place. I would never come back here. Yes it's probably the cheapest haircut ever. But you get what you pay for = shitty service. I left wanting to puke and throw all my clothes in a pool of bleach. I wish I wasn't short on time and had more time to go to another salon because this experience ruined my day and also ruined my hair. So I came here because I needed a haircut and that I wanted to go for someplace a little cheaper to cut my hair. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much, but I wanted a cut that could fly for a couple of months before summer. Something short and that worked for my face. It was alright. But I don't think I'll ever be returning. I showed them a picture. It took two tries to get the cut right. And there was pretty much zero regard as to how it would work for my face, how the hair would fall, how it would look like after I washed it, etc. $17 for a lousy cut. It'll take a couple more months to grow out before I visit my usual stylist. Depending on how I feel, I'll go back to my usual stylist just to get it fixed. The old saying, "You get what you pay for" applies here. Cheap price, cheap cut. Decent, but oh gosh, I don't think I'll be visiting ever again. read more

I get my haircut here every 2 weeks and they remember how I want it. The owner is friendly and the staff are very polite. What makes this place exceptional is the shampoo. The lady who does it is very thorough and it feels like a full body massage. For an extra 5 bucks, you can have a short facial which is so worth it. Like any haircut place it get's the job done. It is cheap but good. No matter where you go to get a hair cut you have to show not say what length to cut off. You have to be proactive to make sure it is the cut you want. Think about it short could mean 3 inches or 1/2 and inch. I've been here about 7 time and every time it's been fine. Great friendly staff! And they're great with my younger son who is incapable of sitting still. read more

I randomly stopped in to get a hair cut for my daughter today. I went on yelp and checked out the two reviews(which now seems to me the owner or her friends wrote it) and I decided to give it a try. First thing I noticed was a tremendous amount of hair on the floor! I know it's a hair salon but after a few cuts you would think they would find 2 minutes to sweep up the hair also considering they were not busy. Plus the hair salon is very small so the amount of hair on the floor is pretty ridiculous. The owner/hair Stylist wasn't the friendliest person. This is my first time there and honestly I probably wouldn't ever go back. Her approach towards me as a new customer was very cold and uninviting. Now on to the hair cut, the hair cut was $10 and it turned out very mediocre. I could have saved myself $10 and cut it myself if I know how the outcome would be. I told her the length I wanted and the fact that I wanted layers done to my daughter. However the definition of layers to her was using the scissors with teeth. I was disappointed with my daughters cut. I personally would NEVER go there for my cut or my daughters cut after this experience. I've been coming to Nina for many years. Since I first got my haircut from her at Unisex Salon to after she went out and open her own store. I rely on her to give me a haircut to last me a half year. I'm a busy girl so I only have less than 30 minutes to get ready everyday. With the hair style Nina gives me I don't have to spend much time getting my hair ready. After a little combing, my hair is able to return to the shape I left the store in, even after a nights sleep. Nina's Beauty Salon offers a cheap price for a solid haircut. Today, I had a friends wedding to attend so I went to Nina to get a quick perm. It was $18, a great price for a special occasion.
