Had an ice latte and a chocolate cake from this place, the prices were high and the food was not great. The cake was around 8 dollars, with it being small and a bit dry. Though it had a nice dark chocolate undertones that should have been overtly present. The chai latte was gross and my wife let me have it after getting for herself. The place isn't bad, it is just a run of the mill cafe that is overpriced and relies on its Americanized style. No service, but two hour WiFi with purchase and AC read more

I really wanted to love it but to be honest, both my drink and the brownie were "just okay." It's a good place to hang in there's of cafe culture, if you need WiFi for work, or just really love chocolate though. read more

Creative, interesting and tasty - this sweet spot has something for everyone. The tasting chocolate was very tasty! The Mayan chocolate was so unique- the flavor was one of a kind. We had some cake but the chocolate was the winner. read more

We stopped here for something sweet after dinner and walking. The kid had hot chocolate and loved it. The wife had latte and a corn cake and loved it. I had a brownie and it was ok but nothing special. The cafe is small but clean and functional. Service was friendly and helpful. Overall, a good experience. read more

Probably the best mocha frappe I have had. Maybe it was the great air conditioned escape from the afternoon heat combined with the tasty and not so sweet mocha frappe. Definitely try on your after walk through 5th avenue. read more

This place is right across the street from the top of Avenida 5, so it's a great place to watch both locals and tourists. Sat down to try some of the sipping chocolate. Sis ordered the Mayan chocolate which has a smidge of spice and a hint of orange and it was delicious. I got the regular one with vanilla. Unfortunately because of the language barrier, the server handed us regular hot chocolates instead of the sipping ones so that was a bummer, but we have an excuse to try it next time. They have a lot of cool seating and booths in the back, but the front patio is a vibe. Will definitely be back to enjoy the scene. read more

We were wandering the walking street when we found this adorable coffee shop and went on in and I got a chocolate croissant and my friend got a ham and cheese croissant with lattes. I then shopped around and they have a bunch of wonderful chocolate and cacao products on the walls and refrigerators. We sat in the back and a comfy spot for a good hour and just enjoyed ourselves. What a lovely spot. read more

Amazing service. Every last employee acting as if this were a reflection of themselves. Not to mention the Java is fantastic

Spent the day in Playa Del Carmen recently. We had to catch an early shuttle from the resort where we stayed, so we had no time for our morning latte at the resort. Upon arriving in PDC, our first mission was to find coffee. Ah Cacao was a welcome sight. Crowded with mostly tourist, it was a loud and lively place. We ordered our lattes, received them quickly, and they were delicious. If you need a coffee fix in PDC, find an Ah Cacao location, there are several in town! read more

Delicious! The chocolate flavours are rich and authentic here. Their ice cream is a must try and also their iced chocolate maya. Be sure to grab a piece of their brownie to take with you. One of the best I've ever tasted. read more

Every time I visit the playa, I always stop by, this place has a reassuring feel to it - something familiar in the sea of unfamiliar. Why you ask? I actually don't know! I think it's because my first experience here a few years ago was good, and every subsequent one has been as well. This is place is priced like a US cafe, so don't expect cheap souvenirs. I always get the Mexican hot choc bar, which tastes delicious melted in warm milk back home. I like their choc body products too, make for great gifts to take back home. I'm likely going to continue to come back every time we visit the area :) read more

Latte was delicious! Get a pastry or cheesecake to go along with your coffee, you won't regret it!

Came here almost every other day. While our resort had coffee, I wanted something that tasted a bit better. I definitely also did not want to get Starbucks since we have this everywhere in the states... lol. Decided to try this place because it was just across the street from our hotel. I ordered the iced mocha and iced coffee late, and they were both terrific! They use actual cocoa and not the syrup. I haven't yet been able to find something like it in the states since my return. The prices were very affordable, $3.50 USD. NO TAXES!! The staff was very friendly, they spoke English (in case you were wondering)! Don't sleep on this place, you definitely need to try this place atleast once!! read more

What an awesome little cafe. I don't do coffee but I do like chocolate cake and they have the best. We normally stop every night on the way back to our hotel to grab a piece. They keep it refrigerated so it's cold and firm. The perfect chocolate cake. Is is located right in the heart of town and there is a few more spread out around. This time I also tried the carrot cake, chocolate covered coffee beans and a couple fruit smoothies. All were delicious. The people working there are always so polite and helpful. I am sure their coffee must be good because the place is always busy. I took the chocolate covered coffee beans back to the room and ate them with a banana. Amazing. Give them a try. read more

I am a regular customer of this exceptional cafeteria; Ah Cacao. I have been acquiring desserts, such as cookies, mousse and chocolate from this place since 2017. The quality of the chocolate of this cafeteria is great and authentic. I personally like the creamy but a little bit hard texture of the mousse of Ah Cacao. This place is ideal for people who want a relaxing and a healing moment to disconnect from stressful situations from the work, family, friendships, and more. Most of the drinks available in this cafeteria is coffee, and the variations of the type of coffee, the way it is prepared and the toppings is abundant. You can choose the way that it is prepared, such as expresso, american, cappuccino, cafe latte, and more. Also, you can choose the type of milk between animal (cow) milk, or vegetable milk. Additionally, you can choose the size of the cup from three different types of sizes. Finally, you can choose, if you want, to mix up some bitter chocolate chips, and to squeeze out some whip cream on the top of your cream. There are also some juices or hot chocolate, so kids that don't drink coffee can enjoy de cafe too. read more

The absolute best. The cuernito was perfect for breakfast. The mocha was amazing. Can't wait to go get some more!! Love this place!

Ok, so this place is technically a chain, but their products are SO good, and their locations are specifically in Playa del Carmen! I came here multiple times during my vacation, and was able to sample a variety of items from the menu. Iced Mocha w/ Almond Milk: Simple and satisfying. I was surprised they offered a variety of milk substitutes, which made me branch out from my typical black coffee to try something different. But, I also tried their black coffee one morning, which was also delicious! Mayan Chocolate Ice Cream: Yum! You definitely need to love chocolate to enjoy this, but I was really pleased with the mild spicy undertone to the chocolate ice cream. Sipping Chocolate: A crowd-pleaser for my family this vacation. It's super tiny (about the size of a shot), and tastes like pure, rich chocolate. read more

This little coffee shop far exceeded our expectations! I had the traditional chocolate, which was super rich and absolutely delicious. My partner had the maya chocolate coffee, which definitely had some spice to it which just enhanced the chocolate flavor. Would definitely recommend stopping here! read more

I know this is a chain but I don't care. We've visited every day but one of our stay here in Playa, and each visit was amazing. It's even worth dodging the drug dealers and prostitutes that line 5th ave lol. read more

Adorable corner shop right near a cute street that's closed off for free walking and shopping. I enjoyed a delicious soy latte with an extra shoot of espresso and a sprinkle of chocolate on top. The espresso was full of flavor and smooth, and the latte topped with a quintessential foam heart. The honey offered to top off the drink is delightful and worth a try! My friends tried the spinach tamale, croissants, and croissant sandwich- all of which received high reviews for full flavor (tamale), great light flakiness (croissants), and delicious ham and cheese (sandwich). This will likely become a most welcomed staple in our trip. Of particularly note are the energy bars that they have at the front- they are delicious and not full of sugar but rather full of flavor and quite nutritious! The texture at first reminded me of an old school power bar but the quality far surpasses. read more

This was our favourite coffee spot in Playa. The lattes were decent, staff was friendly, and there was free wifi. (The ice cream looked delicious- Im sorry we never got to try it.) This place is awesome! I came here post diving and it was just great. They were very nice and helped recommend me and let me try the different types of chocolates. I went for their most famous drink the Mayan hot chocolate made with water (not milk). It was very rich a little spicy and very good. They also recommended the cheesecake which was delicious and complimented the hot chocolate very well. It was nice and thick and had a sour type glaze thing on top which helped balance everything out. If I stayed here longer I would come back again definitely! read more

Walking through the sweltering heat that is a typical summer day in Quintana Roo, my arms dangled lifelessly as sweat beaded along my entire face. Shade and shelter from my strife, there was little, until what did I see? Ah Cacao! It was not a mirage, it was true salvation! I ordered the blended iced chocolate, and within one sip, I was filled with elation. A regular chain like Starbucks, Dunkin Dounuts, or Tim Hortons, it indeed was not. The iced drinks here are perfect for the hot summer days walking around in the humid weather. Tastier than any place I've found in the U.S. for a comparable price to a typical frappuccino. Furthermore, every one of these places has free WiFi. For anyone who has had to deal with a lack of internet while roaming the area, this is a perfect place to stop by, rejuvenate, and look up your next destination. Would highly recommend coming here if you happen to pass by one of these stores. read more
